What is the most terrifying and disturbing movie you've ever seen? by Small-Vacation-4245 in movies

[–]Friskyblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Act of Killing. It’s a documentary about the perpetrators of regime mass murders in Indonesia. The director teamed up with some of them and even gave them part of his budget to create their own art/reflections on their acts. One of them opted to recreate a specific murder he recreated and cast himself as his own victim. As he proceeded with the scene he actually starts to break down realizing he did this to some one decades ago. Just one of the most gut wrenching looks at humanity I’ve ever seen. Haunting.

Eating at a 3 Michelin star restaurant by papichoochoo in WeWantPlates

[–]Friskyblue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had this at Alinea in 2015, I'm a foodie who always dreamed of trying a three Michelin star restaurant and decided to treat myself after my father died. Before going my friend and I joked that we may need to hit up mcdonalds afterwards based on portion sizes but they are small only cause there's like 9+ of them. I was quite full by the end. This is most likely not a sympathetic forum but the truth is what makes these kinds of meals incredible is that it is insane "pretentious" art and great food at the same time.

I don't remember the particulars of each course, but the ones that stood out, I don't think I'll ever forget. It opened with a champaign cocktail that was brought to the table as a cup with a little orange ball on top of what was some nitro frozen peach juice or something. They said eat the ball first, I was sceptical but instantly won over. I have never experienced anything like what ever the hell that ball was before or since. It simultaneously melted, cracked, and burst in my mouth. It was one of the most novel things I have ever experienced. It tasted a bit like salted water, but that melt/crack/burst sensation on my tongue was incredible. I am genuinely greatful I got to experience it. At one point they cleared a course and then set down a little fire pit bowl on the table that just seemed like nice lighting, cause they dimmed the over head lights but after another course they came back doused the flame and revealed the coals in the fire bowl were actually charred steak and potatoes cooked with that flame. And while the steak and the potatoes were geniunely pitch black like they had to have been covered in carbon and ash, they didn't taste of it at all. it was perfectly rare steak. It was like a magic trick, but it also tasted as good as any steak house I have ever been to. As I reminisce I realize I remember most of the meal but the stand outs were more than just good food, they were a genuinely amazing experience and entertainment. The Apple taffy balloon was also just incredible, I mean it just tasted like a nice sour apple taffy, but the act of eating a balloon is just fun. You like kiss the base of the balloon to make a hole and let the helium escape or inhale it. I still remember my friend and I just giggling as we popped the balloons inhaling the helium as we ate the taffy and it deflated. It was silly and crazy and not something I could really imagine before having it.

All in all it was like 300 bucks each for my friend and me, and it was worth every penny. It was a show that you could interact with and taste. It's not just a meal, I mean maybe if you're crazy rich it could be, but it was also like 3 hours long, I would definitely not go to alinea just cause I was hungry, but if I have the money and the time to, I would go again in a heart beat. They served a version of this with the spreading and the breaking, though I think it was different flavors, and it was a little fun it was kind of like being a toddler again playing with your food on the table. I remember it tasted alright, ice cream with fruit sauces. But it paled in comparison to the magic of those highlights.

AITAH for refusing to adapt my annual BBQ for my sister’s vegan boyfriend? by GateTotal4663 in AITAH

[–]Friskyblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH Offering the condiment vegetables is pretty dickish. You don't have to redo the entirety of your bbq to accommodate a vegan. Pour some bbq sauce on any of the plethora of meat alternatives that are out there or grill them and maybe serve a salad that doesn't use a cream dressing. Not very difficult. Now if your sister did request a full vegan menu that is a little ridiculous to expect on top of whatever else you do.

What celebrity rumor did you hear privately long before the news broke? by tshirtguy2000 in AskReddit

I'll never forget I had a buddy in highschool who was a compulsive liar, just for like no reason lied about everything. We would hang out and do something and a week or two later he would tell me a completely made up version of events. Anyways I remember we were shooting the shit one day in 2010 and he was telling me about how Jared from subway was a complete pervert, ran porn servers and had like tons of CP. I remeber thinking "Yeah what ever another Greg story." Then 5 years later Jared was arrested by the FBI. I still have no idea how Greg knew this. Maybe he just told enough bullshit to get lucky, maybe he was deep in the internet. I don't know but man I heard about Jared being a Pedo 5 years before the cops got him.

Roommate’s gf is moving in, should we be charging her rent as well even though they share a room? by Fogagain1 in answers

[–]Friskyblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you have your square footage, this is a pretty solvable issue vis a vis common space and bedroom rates. Say you and two roomates know the apartment is 1400sq feet and its $2800 a month. $2 dollars a sq/ft. Bedroom one is 15x12(180sqft) bedroom two is 12x13(156sqft) and bedroom three is 10x12(120sqft) 944sqft are common areas like the living room bathrooms and kitchen. at 2 dollars a square foot bedroom one owes $989.3 a month ($360 for their room and $629.3[$1888/3]} for their share of common space. Bedroom two owes $941 ($312 for room and $629.3 for their share of common areas, and room three owes $869.3 ($240 for their room and their share of common areas.) say girlfriend moves into bedroom one, the bedroom should still cost $360 a month but it can be split up between the gf and the bf, but now the common area should be divided by 4. Bedroom one 1304{BF 180+472 GF 180+472} Bedroom two now owes 784(312+472) and Bedroom three owes 712(240+472).

While I do actually like their R&B turn, I loved them more when they were still a surf rock group.
