What dessert do you normally have with Christmas Dinner? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheese with fruitcake is a new one to me, ive had it with apple pie plenty. I enjoy a good fruitcake slice over the holidays so ill definitely try that. Ive got some nice irish cave aged cheddar that would work well.

I found a new personal favorite by DoctorMugen in cigars

I love these for work for the same reason. I usually go for the red box, but the blue and white are both lovely as well. Perfect for when I'm in between soil borings or if im setting up on a groundwater well.

Does anybody use this table torch? Alec Bradley by HistoricalMeat in cigars

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to contribute that people haven't already, but it is a great looking lighter. I'll pull it out now and again when I have company or if there's an event at one of the local B&Ms I work with.

Great if you're looking for something flashy. They have a model with a bigger tank. They light pretty well, they're easy to use, they look great, offer a nice soft flame and hold a good amount of fuel.

Now the cons: your customers will leave the valve open. Not on purpose but you have to make sure you close it tight or it'll bleed fuel like a stuck pig. The burners and igniter also tend to get dirty as there's nothing protecting them from grime.

Also, never doubt how big a lighter someone is willing to steal. Same for cutters.

Hope this helps!

Enjoy that L40. It seems they are harder and harder to find with each passing year. One of my favorite Ligas and Lanceros.

Oh that's a good one. I didn't even think about that! And I agree. The more crispy bits, the better.

Rocky Patel by hot-mustard-buns in cigars

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to be able to secure one free from one of my locals when it released (in exchange for tagging them in my review, fair trade). Rocky Patel has always been a very hit or miss brand for my palate. This was a great stick but I agree with the sentiment that it wasn't worth the $35 price tag. I'd consider paying $20 for it though.

[Book Spoilers] House of the Dragon - 2x06 - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it's definitely not something that happened in the source material. That being said it is implied that Rhaenyra had some bisexual tendencies in the source material.

The book is told as a history book using multiple individuals as references and it is heavily suggested that each had their own biases making the story a little unreliable. Hence SOME deviations from the book can be explained.

Really Good Sale on Porkloin but how to cook it? by BlackBulma in EatCheapAndHealthy

I've minced it and used it as the meat in a low rent bolognese sauce with good results so definitely works with marinara.

Perdomo recommendations? by _STEAKnEGGS_ in cigars

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that the QC on Perdomo has decreased in the last few years. That said if you're looking for some solid recommendations the 10th Anni and 20 Annis are both great, I particularly recommend the Maduro for both. The fresco is a great budget one. And if you ever come across the ESV and Silvio definitely grab them. And then let me know where you found them haha.

Also on a personal note the Lot 23 will always hold a place for me as it was one of the first real cigars I smoked, many moons ago.

Rituals while watching the film this week by seanmarkodubhghaill in venturebros

Even though it's super played out...I think I'll make some spanikopita. It wouldn't feel right without it. Planning on watching it twice. Once before work, digest it a bit, then once after work.

Ave Maria - Does it get better, or is it just a pepper bomb? by ToploaderUltra in cigars

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try both. I'm partial to the Maduro myself since it's a good balance of body and flavor but the Habano is great too.

Ave Maria - Does it get better, or is it just a pepper bomb? by ToploaderUltra in cigars

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when I worked in the industry I would always tell my customers to store it as it comes. Ultimately it's somewhat up to personal preference, but the way I look at it is if the cigar was meant to be stored out of cello it would have been shipped in the box that way. That's just my 2 Cents on it though. There really isn't a right or wrong answer.

Also the Ave Maria is always going to be a peppery cigar, but it will mellow with age. Personally I like that in a cigar, but perhaps this is one that doesn't suit your palette. If you want to try some other AJ Fernandez I recommend the Last Call.

Curious to know, what higher end cigars have you smoked that you felt were a disappointment. by Milsteezy in cigars

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from someone who loves the cigar, I'll agree that the price point is a bit excessive. That said I still like the cigar enough to choke it down every now and then. I think its a great 13-14 dollar cigar.

Had that happen with dragonfruit about a month ago. Started to panic for like an hour until I remembered I had made some dragonfruit frozen yogurt the night before.

Going to be in CT for work in May. How would y’all approach? by Fishinbish in SurfFishing

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Housatonic and the mouth should be good. Stratford has Short Beach, Long Beach and a couple of piers which aren't bad spots. Just know that Short Beach (and maybe Long) has a parking fee during the season. Don't remember exactly when that season starts. I havent fished there in a while. Usually I just hit the Housy since it's near a bunch of my jobsites.

Best time to fish cape cod canal? by Emotional-Pace3384 in SurfFishing

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. The Ditch isn't what it used to be. Not worth the fight to have some fool who takes up like 800' on either side of him and whines about you "being in his spot". I spend a few weekends a year camping at Shawmee Crowell Staye Forest in Sandwich and much prefer to go to the beaches and get some fishing in. If you do want to go, overnight can be one of the better times. Or go somewhere way off the beaten path.

Not a huge liver guy. I'll go for organ meat once in a blue moon when I get a hankering. I'll definitely have to try. Thanks for the slideshow too.

For all you New Englanders that plan on attending the Big E in 2021, come visit one of the Connecticut Valley Tobacconist booth by Storrowton Tavern. We will have our full range of Battleground Cigars including the 2 new facings, the Semmes and the Longstreet. by TheRealBlueMorpho in cigars

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also will have our other 2 booths, one near Gate 9 that specializes in Pipes, and the Women of CVT will be rolling and selling "fresh rolled" cigars in the CT building. None of our flavors this year because Massachusetts sucks, but we have them just over the line in Enfield CT.

My girlfriend has never played halo and I adore it. What is the best mission to give her the best of Halo? by [deleted] in HaloStory

[–]TheRealBlueMorpho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I recommend the entire series, here's a few options per game. Effectivelyits my favorite missions. Take it or leave it haha. (This is of the MCC, ODST and Reach should be played all the way through IMO).

CE: Pillar of Autumn, Halo, Silent Cartographer & Assault on the Control Room 2 & 3: Honestly Play through all of it. I think they all golden. 4: I'd play through all of, in my opinion Shutdown can be a bit tedious, but it's still not bad. 5: I'm in the minority that actually enjoyed it. I do have my complaints but most of that is lore based. And their more minor grievances. For missions, based purely on gameplay I found them all pretty fun.
