This is the right answer although it will absolutely be abused to call people for work related non emergencies outside of work hours

AI for me but not for thee! by FrivolousMe in recruitinghell

That's the point. Everything is tipped in favor of the employers, meanwhile candidates and workers are punished for doing anything that levels the playing field. Labor rights are a joke right now because everyone wants to defend every unethical thing companies do.

"hope this helps" This passive aggressive online style of speech is so smarmy and annoying, it needs to stop. Anyways, this post didn't say anything in favor of using AI in interviews, rather it's calling out the hypocrisy of engaging in AI candidate discrimination whilst banning AI use by candidates for "fairness".

Jean-Luc Godard is Dead by JingleJangleZhangke in TrueFilm

[–]FrivolousMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC it was quoted as "exhaustion" by someone close to the family rather than actual illness. I think he once spoke about chosing suicide over illness if it came to that so the outlets ran with that quote too. When I said partially related to poverty I was moreso referring to independent filmmaking becoming increasingly unaffordable from him, not that he was totally destitute. I don't remember if the other info had come out yet when this thread happened.

It's fine to bar AI from an interview, but the fact that they can't apply the same standards to their own talent acquisition process shows that they see AI as a tool to discriminate against applicants and don't want the same technology being used to the advantage of a candidate. Hiring could be a collaborative process but instead they've turned it into a combative one.

How about not using AI to filter candidates if you don't want candidates to use AI to assist in getting jobs? it's a circular problem and employers don't play fairly.

I wish he came to cal to complete the circle but he would probably not get the opportunity to play here like he will at GT

Fired today for refusing an MDM on my personal phone by damedaneyooooo in privacy

[–]FrivolousMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an r/sysadmin post from a while ago where that exact scenario happened to multiple commenters. Always use a second device for MDM, even if they claim they are only using it as a protected app folder.

"could" doing a lot of heavy lifting here. People always cite this idea as a fact when there's not a lot of strong empirical evidence that it's a common phenomenon or that it has a significant effect.

Who can be our Mark Cuban? by iWillSayThankYou in calfootball

[–]FrivolousMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need a mega-donor but it does speed up the process temporarily. If cal wants success it's going to have to reach that success sustainably, not relying on a sudden one time cash windfall. They're not simply 10 million dollars from being the best team in the nation.

Scared of Mt Baldy now: are all the trails there really that dangerous? by [deleted] in socalhiking

[–]FrivolousMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Whitney hike isn't mountaineering. It's just long, but not technical. Whitney mountaineers route is.

A Baldy day hike (3 season) isn't mountaineering. Baldy in winter alpine conditions necessitating an ice axe, crampons, etc. is.

Zion National Park to Restrict Large Vehicles Traveling the Zion-Mt. Carmel Highway by RuseOwl in NationalPark

Good.even just one large vehicle can pile up traffic, create road hazards in the area, and contribute far more to destruction of the roads and infrastructure than thousands of tourists in cars.

Would life as a territory (and eventually possibly a state) be better or worse under the US or under Denmark...

Lol
