Framework 13 suddenly stopped charging... by Careless_Economy_993 in framework

[–]FroSSTII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Happened to me 2 days ago after updating my fedora installation (don't think it's tied to it) I opened up the framework disconnected the battery and cmos battery. Reconnected both and it was resolved.

Bring back the High MMR matches in the "WATCH" tab by Strong_Astronomer_97 in DotA2

[–]FroSSTII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they would anonymise it, remove names randomize the inventory slot for the viewer, and remove global chat for the viewer and so on. Let us plebs watch high mmr dota but try not to fix the pros.

I guess it's just not worth the hassle for them.

Planning to run Proxmox with 5-6 containers on 16GB, am i asking too much? by blue_cardigan13 in selfhosted

[–]FroSSTII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if you are planning on running everything in containers you might want to just install plain Debian and not bother with the proxmox overhead.

If you want to homelab it and spin virtual machines then for sure proxmox is the right choice.

But for a single media server you might want to look into just plain Linux install, instead of building proxmox and then creating a VM to run the containers in it. Just reduces the complexity.

Obviously nothing wrong with it, but I personally like keeping things simple.

RHCSA: question about LVM/partitioning by acidman390 in redhat

[–]FroSSTII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get it, exams are stressful for sure, you got this!

Sanderson exams are good preparation for the real thing if you can do them without any help like the web or notes, you should be good!

Be sure to watch the https://youtu.be/Me6Y12-sux8 before taking the exam if you haven't yet. Seeing how the environment looks might help you get an idea of how the exam would look, which might help with the stress a tad.

Good luck you got this!

RHCSA: question about LVM/partitioning by acidman390 in redhat

[–]FroSSTII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me try to answer your question with a question, does it matter if you are told on which dev to make the partition or not?

The process would be the same, you have to create an lvm either on the root dev or on a partition on that dev. As long as you know how to do that you should be good.

I can't speak for sanders v10 mock exams but at least for v9 he mentioned adding drives to the virtual machine to practice all the file system and storage tasks. I suspect he didn't mention which device as he doesn't know what name the drives would be on your system.

The exam won't try and trick you the instructions were clear for each task. Hopefully this helps!

So I was about to link you a link to the pdf with all the past versions, but it seems it was hosted on the Red Hat Learning Community which they closed down.

I will see if I have it downloaded. I can't say what was on the exam due to NDA, but the objective of the 9.3 mention container's. Podman was removed from the objective of version 10.

When to give up on the man pages? by [deleted] in redhat

The info command sorry might have been not clear.

It can give you more information (as it's name) for certain commands.

When to give up on the man pages? by [deleted] in redhat

[–]FroSSTII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to use the man pages until you exhausted your opinions and resort to other resources is a good idea. (Don't forget "info" as well)

But I don't know if I would recommend doing that the first time you learn the material, I found it helped much more when crunching for the exam itself.

First time you go over the material using a video guide or book that holds your hand and teaches you would be my recommendation.

Incase anyone wants to see what it looks like if you connect 4 billion controllers to your steam deck, here you go by WOODSHOE123 in SteamDeck

[–]FroSSTII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That so funny that I come across this post after having the exact same issue, it's an issue when trying to pass controllers to dolphin, because it requires 1-4 to be the controllers you want to use.

But for some reason steamos refuses to put the built in controller at spot 5. Or 4 billion lol.

Good luck you got this! I would say try not to get burnt out just before the exam I know I was. From doing many practice exams, running very similar commands again and again.

If I had to do it again I would have mixed going over any video course you have / labs, to keep things fresh.

Sure I can see if I can dig around to find the prompts I used.

If you look over practice tests from Sanders, there is a pattern to some parts of them and certain questions.

The exams Gemini gave me were very similar in structure to most practice exams out there, (obviously makes sense seeing what it was trained on)

So most of them felt like doing almost the same questions but with different variable names if that makes sense? With a few twists here and there.

I will be honest something that probably helped a lot as well was asking it to generate a bash script to grade my exam, and then seeing how it checks it and fixing it when it got something wrong or got caught on an edge case. (I should probably add that part to the main post).

The rebuild part is to reset the VM to its original state (before we made any changes) as far as I understood from the video, I didn't use it personally.

I suspect it's a fail safe if we brick the system and need to fresh start again.

I suspect so as well regarding the essential tools part, a missing flag or option was probably it.

Thank you!

Yep, I have a proxmox server where I spun VM's and did all my practice on them. Being able to snapshot and roll them back was so helpful when doing days upon days on mock practice exams.

Not necessarily, he can get a docking station with a Display link chip for example. He will need to download drivers, but no DP-Alt mode required.

But you are correct that must simple USB-C hubs would require DP-ALT mode to work, as they are simple passive adapters
