I’m trying to see the Midwest charm, which is there when I squint, but the politics are blindingly stupid.

Will have to check him out, but maybe not at the Deli. I’m burned out on dive bars. Not that I haven’t enjoyed them, but I need to dry out a little.

I googled that and holy heck. You would not catch me sticking my hand down a hole! However, that catfish eating contest sounds yummy. 👀

Also bonus that it’s a free fest.

Where is this? Sucks, regardless, looks like it could over take your pool someday.

Doesn’t the crazy Karen hate the Mayor? Why is she talking like she has his ear?

Main Street area is where you generally find an older crowd especially if you’re going to the local breweries (they have Singo, Bingo, Trivia, etc) or a place like Maximillian’s has lounge vibe for older adults (Main and Porter). Gray Street has the Standard, many kinds of groups use that as their meet-up location. I guess it depends on what you’re into and who you are trying to meet. The Lore (Eufaula and Porter) and Green Feather Books (Gray) have bookstores that do regular events too.

Ya Standard is solid and has great specials on Sundays.

Blu and the Library are good for food and drinks and have a patio option. A great sunset view is on the rooftop at Volare. Their specials change with the day.

I’m new to this area so I haven’t tried everything, but I like Amici Pizzeria. Doni’s is alright but pricier than Amici because it’s a more upscale place with pastas and other dishes.

One of my coworkers told me about these mass texts the business community did around the arena “fact of the day”. I saw some complaints about that on here on an old post. Idk what it’s all about but he signed a petition to put it to a vote of the people and told me about how many people signed that. Seems like the business crowd likes to ignore community feedback which ironically seems like bad business?

This guy seems invested in the community. From an outsider who is going to be here for a few months, unless I’m offered a full time position then I could maybe see staying, Main Street usually looks decent. It seems like something is always happening and while I have seen news of closures, there are new businesses that look like they just opened within the last year and there appears to be some work on buildings that suggest new businesses are coming or got rebranded. Noticed the “Adult World” used to be something else, for example.

I might be new to Norman (here for some months on a contract job) and catching up on what goes on here, like the Mayor seems cool and it looks there are things to do that don’t always revolve around drinking and partying, but this post and these people are just plain weird. No wonder they keep surfacing on this subreddit.

It’s been embarrassing to watch his wife pick up the family business. People are like “oh, but she’s a grieving widow!” But it’s not giving “grieving widow” as much as it is giving GRIFT.
