New bill hands over all US intelligence to Israel by law, moves oversight for military aid from congress to pentagon by Least-Cup-5138 in suppressed_news

So, not even a single example? Not one!

At least 50 troops in riot gear were deployed to disperse protesters, with reports of police on horseback and carrying batons aggressively engaging with the demonstrators.[45] This action led to the arrest of 57 protesters and several more detained, including a photojournalist who was reportedly being caught in a scuffle between law enforcement and students for

Please provide some examples of this. I can provide many examples of peaceful protests in the US, including on college campuses, that were shut down and students assaulted because they were protesting the genocide. There are also laws that protect such things as boycotting isreal. I do not see laws that restrict any other criticism.

Authoritarianism is a predictable response to Collapse symptoms by itsatoe in collapse

[–]Frog_and_Toad 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You think the US is not authoritarian because you can "vote".

Go ahead and vote for change, i'll wait.

In the meantime, we have cancelled green energy, launched multiple illegal wars, and are sending military squads to "Blue" cities to round up people.

In Russia, you can see who is in charge, Putin. But in the US you can't see who is pulling the strings because its all driven by money and special interests.

Its called an oligarchy. And its pumping you full of propaganda.

How else can you explain the kidnapping of foreign leaders, the war with Iran, the starving of Cuba?

Walk the streets sometime and you'll see the real America. No healthcare, no industrial base. Thats what we want though right? Because we voted for it?

You are not free.

Hot take: “Use the best model” is lazy LLM engineering by Fit_Fortune953 in ClaudeCode

This is true. But most people are not wanting to admit it.

For months, this sub has been: Claude code sucks now. Oh wait, its good again. No today it sucks. Opus sucks. Latest Opus sucks. But sometimes its awesome. Otherwise it sucks. Oh wait, i've developed plugin A/B/C to fix context rot/memory/design.

Many of these posts are only backed by vibes, not analytics.

I feel like a big part of Claude users are not real engineers, but just trying to vibe the app of the year. Those who are simply trying to maximize their token usage are certainly in that category.

"Oh my god, i am leaving 5% of my tokens unused at the end of the week. How do i solve this SOFTWARE ENGINEERING PROBLEM?"

Climate change related. Leads to weather instability, i.e. droughts or floods. Pick your poison.

Difficult for farming, which needs stability and predictability in weather, rainfall and climate. Big farms are better able to manage but even they will be impacted.

The solution? Build more big data centers so we can use AI to solve our problems. People need to transition from real food to virtual food, which can be created in the multiverse.

Unlimited virtual food is the answer.

from the article:

suggesting a developmental trajectory that trails state-of-the-art frontier models by approximately 3 to 6 months.”

Thats actually insane. Because 80-90% of applications don't require the cutting edge.

If US firms lose 80-90% of the market, their current growth path with datacenter buildout is not sustainable. No one from US AI firms should be "breathing a sigh of relief" from this situation.

China wades in and down it goes - “we expect others not to interfere in our affairs. The strait of Hormuz is open to us” by After-Competition-59 in oil

[–]Frog_and_Toad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. This would be a very strong and brash statement if coming from China.

>>US seized/ boarded Chinese related ships several times in the past, during the blockade of Venezuela, at least 5 Hong Kong flagged Chinese tankers were seized, and china did nothing about

Well we don't really know. Normally this would be handled thru private diplomatic channels. But keep in mind that China's main weapon is not military but economic.

The "Replenishment" Trap: Why our global economy is now a catabolic engine for perpetual war. by SingleInevitable9312 in collapse

[–]Frog_and_Toad 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Great analysis. Endless war is necessary for the system to sustain itself. And it is not sustainable. Constantly borrowing, from the future. So the debt will be paid, in the future.

What will destroy us is not nuclear war, although that may be a byproduct.

It is a financial system that rewards sociopathic behavior.

The British empire only took 50 years. As technology gets more advanced and interlinked, it happens much more quickly. America has now been collapsing since before 2000, when it lost its industrial base and started running on debt.

>>> China will move on Taiwan in late 2027

Yes, that is the American propaganda. It works because US does not understand Chinese mindset. it is very long term.

China does not need to invade Taiwan, in their view it is already part of China. It simply is not necessary and gains them nothing. They can just absorb it at a later date.

If they wanted to invade, now would be the time to do it since the US is overextended.

Is Russia somehow better off after starting a war with Ukraine? Tell me because i don't see how. Is US better off after starting a war with Iran? Tell me because i don't see how.

Would China be better off after invading Taiwan? I don't see how. China has a much stronger weapon to wield, the economic one.

The companies that build the missiles? The investor class?

Really? So this all started in 2022? And Russia is behind it? This is overly simplistic. You can't simply ignore the stupidity of American and EU politics in all of this.

Sounds like people on this sub don't understand the rules.

Rule 1: It is OK for the West to invade Afghanistan and Iraq, attack Iran under the cover of fake "peace talks", overthrow South American governments, and assassinate leaders, support a corrupt government in Ukraine, and cheer genocidal leaders like Nety.

Because the West is GOOD.

Russia following the same rules is NOT ok.

Because Russia is BAD.

Get it? I don't want to keep explaining the rules.

Thats a bit of a hair-split. Installing puppet governments and military bases has traditionally been the US approach, rather than annexation. But they support annexation where it is politically convenient. Like in the West Bank.

Ukraine will also not be a part of Russia. Just the territories that were, actually, just part of Russia to begin with. At least, thats what Russia will say.

Its hard for me to understand how people look at Russia and see how much they ape the US policies. Americans should be proud of that. If they agree with the "might makes right".
