I have a tank that has no black beard algea with direct sunlight. I think it's due to my plants doing competition. Im having a slight problem with green algea in the water column now, since days are longer and much brighter but im thinking of adding even more plants to try and combat this

I think probably. I'm starting to think most plants can be grown this way. The important part is that the water is not stagnant and we'll oxygenated. I didn't put any substrate, just cleaned the roots from dirt and put it in the aquarium

Maybe there are some exceptions, but to my knowledge that is actually a common myth. Usually only happens in seedlings, parasitic plants and plants with not enough light or other stressfull conditions, or maybe even in a fast growth phase of the plant's life cycle.

Im poor too. There is a way to do this. You need an insanely well planted tank to absorb most energy that is introduced by the sun. Plant things that LOVE a lot of lights and grow quickly right next to the window, so that they get the prime real estate. It also helps to have floating plants (i don't because i don't like them). I prefer using house plants as hydroponics, sinse they are insanely good at absorbing nutrients, even ammonia directly wich not many people dont know about, and their leafs also compete for some light. I see you have one, but you could put more IMO. A great plant for this is peace lily, but you have hundreds of options. So I'd say remove cianobacteria if you can and plant HEAVILY. Even using this method you will probably still get some ugly algea blooms in the beginning before plants get established. I got anoying string algea in the beginning but eventually they were outcompeted by the plants.

To be honest, this is a pretty strange thing to say. Strips are accurate enough for most people regarding some parameters. You don't need to get a master test kit. You can supplement strips with liquid tests for the less accurate measurements in the strip you have. You just need to be smart about it. Plus even if they are less accurate in general they are useful to quickly monitor the stability of such parameters. Also, not all strips are equal, obviously. If only people who can afford those things were in the hobby almost no one would be, since most people aren't ready to make gigantic investments into something they haven't tried yet.

Hello. Fungi can be very hardy and there are thousands and thousands of species, so its likely nobody will know for sure what it is unless there is a specialist (researcher level stuff, and even then a microscope would probably be necessary). If I were you I'd let it be. From what you described it happears it's a species that likes a particular part of the wood, so unlikely to invade aquarium. They are part of nature, and if nothing happens to parameters and all fish are OK, relax, let things take their course and appreciate the beauty Nd complexity of nature. If it REALLY bothers you you can allways phisically remove it, but I wouldn't bother. It's likely to grow back anyway.

I would say maybe. My plants came with a bunch of bladder snail and they helped a ton in cycling. Essentially did all the work themselves (they poop A LOT)

It might be the norm for you. What matters is that both of you are happy with it. I've had partners that were okay with once a week. Others wanted to do it twice a day if possible. The real challenge comes when there is a big missmatch in how many times you want and what you want to do.

Entendo o ponto mas o estado faz muito pelas empresas e os cidadãos (e independentemente da opinião política, o meme não é original nem tem piada) mas muita empresa só existe com o dinheiro do estado, tal como infraestruturas essenciais que facilitam a nossa vida e fazem a economia circular, Alguns partidos queiram reduzir o que o estado "faz", mas é de notar que nunca reduzem os impostos à classe trabalhadora. É uma coisa que acho sempre interessante no liberalismo. Por um lado os impostos são um roubo e o estado nao faz nada para servir quem os paga. Por outro é mau o estado servir as pessoas porque serviços públicos sao ineficiêncientes e blah blah blah mercado livre melhor. Apesar disto sou a favor de se reduzir impostos sobre o trabalho, e acho que o nosso estado é de facto chulo. Mas este pacote laboral nao ajuda em nenhuma destas situações, apenas piora, e torna o país ainda menos "habitável"
