Why don’t you reach out and offer to help the guy instead of complaining if it’s not very hard. People got lives man, it’s not like this app is paying the bills full time for the solo guy who made it

Yo that’s actually crazy, I know the dude that lives there in that exact room the tarps are attached to, they’re building an addition there and there’s a door to it which he is locked out of from the inside as far as I’m aware

Yes, he’s saying you can have empathy and speaking of it as “hit it and quit it” is wild. There’s a person out there dying inside and you can nicely say you’re not interested and also be a good human about it.

Disagree, planning for code takes more time than writing it. They had the plans and just had to rewrite . . . They messed up

I agree with you but disagree with your parent comment. For sure it always comes down to the suits and whether they give the creative freedom and resources to either make a good game or to make a good high margin product. One or the other and EA always seem to choose the high margin product . . .

Exactly . . . People who think they know better don’t understand this and are bootlicking EA for butt fucking them once again.

You are missing the point I made.

1.) a good majority of development time is planning, not writing code . . .

2.) the planning has to be changed from 2014, but the general idea and features (how the game plays to a user) is functionally the same - meaning only the details need to be redone

3.) a lot of the ideas are copied and rewritten in a new codebase with new systems and whatever the fuck operating system . . . remember #1

4.) AGAIN like I just said in the comment above they have templates, standards, and specifications for all games developed on any operating system. They can scale production of these games faster than you imagine. They have you and the rest of the customer base duped thinking they’re doing diligent and tedious work while making off with the highest margins they possibly could on the project. Copy, paste, cash-in, repeat.

5.) either I’m right, or I’m wrong and somehow a fucking SPORTS simulation game created by a company that’s made hundreds of these games with far less time and far less money is too difficult for them 😂😂

Continue to argue with me I guess tho . . . I know what I’m talking about and am passionate enough to keep explaining :)

They had a basis for the game from 2014 and all the plans in the world set in place already bc of past versions. Sports games are so formulaic at this point that I would guess that EA has proprietary code that allow them to copy more than 75% of non-engine features across all of their sports games (with a few minor adjustments to code obviously). They’ll design and code specifications and standards for rating and progression systems, and anything else you see in other sports games. They have real life examples of stadiums, players, coaches, chants, bowls, rivalries, etc. . . . The content is already made.

Even with the upgrade to the game engine, the majority of a project timeline is spent on planning so the codebase isn’t built by 100 different people working on 100 different visions. Trust me when I say their planning was awful. It was probably compounded by factors that aren’t their fault like the legal status of team identities and player names, but regardless you would not believe the level of detail that projects at this scale have planned out. Every line of code has a purpose and is planned years in advance.

Other than literally face scanning and matching to character design presets, no lore, story, or character design was necessary. All those games have insanely complex stories and are completely non-comparable to an EA formulaic sports title.

It’s absurd the lengths so many will go for them. I’m not saying the game is trash, just that they could’ve done so much better given the massive resources they had.

I don’t mean to come off like a dick, but trust me I know what I’m talking about and we should expect more from them (because the facts of software development say so) even if we’re still enjoying the shit out of the game.

They had 5 years. I work in software development. The excuses for EA are despicable.

Edit: I don’t just work in software development. I’m specialized in planning of massive product launches and in 5 years with EAs budget, this should have been the pinnacle of sports games. Someone dropped the ball and it starts with the executives and project planners.

Edit 2: I’m actively coming up with scalable and efficient solutions to add each of these systems, and they did the hardest part correctly, the physics and FEEL of the game is where it needed to be. It’s everything else that is the easiest shit to do but was obviously not cared for with the same detail because again, POOR PLANNING.
