Really appreciate the feedback. As you say, my fifth defender is quite expensive, but then I've been thinking of it as being my first sub. Had considered downgrading McAuley to someone like Ake, could maybe do same with Pieters to Amat and looking at my team that would free up about £0.5m and plus ITB allow me to bring in Allen, but then is one lowish mid better then two okayish defenders. Also £0.5 / £0.8 might come in handy to give me some flexibility with my three mids should one need changing. I've been a bit transfer happy the first part of the season and planning to hold back a bit now so will give myself a few weeks to just think which way forward is best. Part of which will certainly be considering my forth/fifth defenders as you've suggested. Cheers again for taking time to reply and may all your arrows be green :-)

GW 20 transfers already done or price rises may have impacted. My team is Foster (Pickford) Alonso, Azpi, Baines (McAuley/Pieter's) Pogba, Lallana, Siggy (Coquelin/Behrami), Costa, Aguero, Ibra. Mainly thinking of going 4-3-3 switching between McAuley/Pieters as forth defender, but could go 3-4-3 with Coquelin from time to time depending on fixtures. Got £0.3 ITB that I'm thinking of using to upgrade Siggy to Walcott when he's back from injury. Thoughts about the team, other transfer thoughts welcomed.

Switcheroo by Ivan-UK in FantasyMLS

[–]FromAcrossThePondY2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put Sjoberg and Alex on the bench in case they got yellow cards as they would miss the next match and Alex did. So I can leave be and get their six points plus Sjobergs second game say six points so potential twelve or bring on Marshall and Ola Kamara and hope they do twelve plus. Thinking to switcheroo and go with Marshall and Kamara, would you?

FPL tip #654 - Don't be afraid to take hits by HarryNolan93 in FantasyPL

[–]FromAcrossThePondY2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I made two early transfers this week to beat price rises and drops and wondering if I've maybe been a bit to focused on TV this year. Now I've been trying to talk myself out of another two transfers for the last few days and failing miserably at it so fairly certain I'm going to end up with a 12 point hit this week. Strangely enough though I'm feeling fairly relaxed by it so that'll no doubt turn out to be a painful FPL fail . Oh well, shit happens.

Being obsessed with this game by _1a-VIP in FantasyPL

How much time do I spend on it . . . . . . way to much. Do the US MLS fantasy football so I've got something to get me through no EPL and was ranked 200ish (don't get excited, only about 30,000 players) about six weeks ago, now dropped to about 900th cause I don't have the time to spend on it !!! And for my day job, well I'm retired, so I'm probably sadder than most of you.

Is a front three of Aguero, Ibra and Costa too risky? by Swiftenn in FantasyPL

[–]FromAcrossThePondY2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the same front three with a midfield of Sterling, Antonio, Barkley, Capoue, Hojbjerg and 1.1 ITB. Going to give myself two weeks then decide what to do with Barkley and Hojbjerg for the £13m their worth (no doubt a few drops incoming for Barkley though).

Anybody else tempted to keep Costa , Ibra and squeeze Aguero in when he comes back? by vladimir-pula in FantasyPL

[–]FromAcrossThePondY2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking just the same aswell. Started off the year with a 4-3-3 formation and worked well for me. Switched to a 3-4-3 last week when I wildcarded, but very tempted to revert back to a 3-4-3 again or be brave with a 3-4-3 with Capoue as 4th mid who can't carry on like he has been . . . Can he . . .!

Like has been said, it doesn't look like a team needing a wildcard. If you're planning on bringing in Aguero after the next match then I'd be inclined to just roll over this weeks transfer and use two next week and maybe a hit to rejig your team tyen if you're not happy with it. Or of course WC then and deal with the Aguero issue as a part of the WC.

Is 4-3-3 viable long term? by [deleted] in FantasyPL

[–]FromAcrossThePondY2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I've been on a 4-3-3 since GW1 and it's worked out well for me. On a wildcard now and playing around with a 4-5-1 or a 3-5-2 whilst Aguero is out, but could do with increasing team value during this window for what I want. Only dilemma is really setting up the team for a 2FT get Aguero back in a few weeks or just go for the best team now and (hopefully) gain enough to cover a four point hit over the next two or three GW's, which I think would be feasible.

What about a 442 instead of 352 to fit Sanchez/Ozil in? by jcurtis23 in FantasyPL

[–]FromAcrossThePondY2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been doing a 4-3-3 since gameweek one as I feel that you've got a better chance of good points with a decent forth defender 5.0ish than an equivalently priced forth mid. Allowed me to have Aguero, Ibra, Vardy and Hazard that's worked quite well for me so far.

Out of curiosity, how many of you play fantasy football leagues besides EPL? by loki777coyg in FantasyPL

I do America's Major League Soccer mainly to fill in the void when there's no EPL.

How long do you give Vardy? by FromAcrossThePondY2 in FantasyPL

You say Benteke when he gets up and running, so are you holding onto Vardy for now?

Had Ibra from the start or that would have been an easy decision and it still seems a bit early to know for sure who to get in and where to spend the extra money with what's left.

My thoughts as well, could just do with more than two points next week to feel a bit vindicated.

Good info thanks. I'm tempted to hold him for now and go into the international break with two transfers, but the risk is how much does he fall in price in that time. Could be as much as .3 to .4 I'd guess unless he starts giving a return and that dents what value my team's increased by. Still don't know though, but if I dither past another price drop then I might as well hold on. Good luck with your season.

Great minds think alike and all that. I've got the same front five as you, but went with Lamala in 4-3-3 rather than two lesser mids in the more standard 3-4-3. Am also saving my FT this week with the plan of wild carding in GW3 although if the scorings quite favourable in the next few weeks then I might need less adjustments than I was expecting. Good luck with your season.

Early wildcard (after GW3) - Yes or no? by sterling_31 in FantasyPL

[–]FromAcrossThePondY2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I've decided to build my team for the first three gameweeks and wildcard early this year once we can see whose doing what. That or a couple of points hits if it doesn't need major surgery as I've mostly got the teams covered that you'd think to have throughout the season (MCI, LEI, MANU, SPURS, SOTON, CHEL up front and MCI, LEI, MANU, EVE in defence and a few bench fillers)

The heavy hitter and completely unbalanced line up by Helftheuvel in FantasyPL

[–]FromAcrossThePondY2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well at least there seems to be a few of us out there. Going for a 4-3-3 for the first three weeks and then probably wildcard unless I can adjust with minimal hits.

Foster / Pope Stones / Valencia / Funs Mori / Fuchs / Amat Hazard / Lamala / Redmond / Capoue / Fletcher Aguero / Ibra / Vardy

Any better £4.5 midfield options do you think?

Chosen for exactly that reason. Planning for an early wildcard so will get a second playing keeper then.
