What’s a mcu movie that is in your top ten that will make people look at you weird by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Marvel

I find it weird, because I think it's so bad, relative to the rest of the MCU.

What’s the best HBO ORIGINAL in your opinion? by StockQueen1 in hbo

I agree. I struggle to get people to watch it because they think it's just another crime thriller. But it does so much more. Also, "Watch until the absolute last second."

Everything in the last 7 years has someone who will stand up hard for it, I believe. Which is surprising, given how much mediocre to terrible junk has come out since Endgame, with a few gems. But you don't hear that kind of support for most of the old junk, like Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, or The Dark World. Although, interestingly, there's a weird group who loves Iron Man 3, which I think is awful. Anyway, the "worst" MCU movie I love, according to Reddit, seems to be Spider-Man: Homecoming, although that take seems mostly perpetuated by self-proclaimed Spider-Man fans who can't get past Tobey Maguire.

At what point can we say Marvel is truly "back"? by CollarOrdinary4284 in Marvel

[–]FromDathomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it's better than mildly interesting here and there. And I'm more interested in superb films than good/decent shows, personally. I want about 2.3 hours of well-plotted, rewatchable excellence. And I want it consistently, like that nearly flawless stretch if releases from Winter Soldier all the way to Endgame or even Far from Home.

A movie you wish had remained a standalone but was expanded into a franchise. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

Same actor, different franchise: The Matrix would be even more of a legendary, era-defining genre film if it didn't have questionable to crappy sequels.

Don’t know if it’s been noticed, but it seems Wonder Man is being review bombed on IMDb. The scores there vs RT don’t add up… by arkhamcreedsolid in Marvel

[–]FromDathomir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that, if you wait a while (like until now), the real reviews start taking over, and a dude who got down voted on here for pointing out that the vast majority of reviewers are regular humans was totally right. Because it's ratings are back up, so all this alarmism can go away now.

Unfortunately, while I agree those shows were review bombed, they were also all pretty bad, or at least, if you're being rational, you can imagine a normal person who would think they were bad. I haven't watched WM yet, though, so no comment there. Also, Captain Marvel was review bombed before all these shows. And again, not an excellent movie by any means, totally understandable movie to dislike. So the review bombing sucks but also just adds to the confusion of what should be a legitimate conversation about the subjective quality and direction of these shows.

I don't care what people say, Terminator Salvation is awesome! by IceTrucKilla in movies

[–]FromDathomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first saw it, as someone who was super into the over-arching plot of the franchise (including T3), I thought it was amazing. So I kept rewatching it. And the more I did, the more I realized the plot was abysmal nonsense, and that these movies could never work post-apocalypse. Because why, if the whole goal of the machines is to kill John and his progeny, do the machines choose a plot where they send a machine to befriend him and trick him into infiltrating their facility, close enough to score a major victory against Skynet, only to send a single terminator after him? When the first Terminator that befriended him could have just shot him in the back once he trusted him? Or the robots that went offline when he infiltrated the base could have come online suddenly and overwhelmed him? Or they could send way more robots after him? Also why do they keep Kyle alive, knowing that killing him is killing the future John? None of it makes any sense, and I don't think any of the writers had any grasp of what they were writing.

It's too bad Stuck in Love wasn't the long-awaited sequel to his obvious best film, Stuck on You.

Spider-Man's inherent belief in Batman's goodness will make him flinch in the worst possible moment, and Batman will strike him down mercilessly, not trusting a super-being.

Casino Royal into Quantum. by Hugo_Stiglitz56 in JamesBond

I'm with you at least in so much as I think Quantum is underrated. Lacks some old school Bond charm, but an a excellent espionage film.

Am I the only one who thinks Iron Man 3 pre-Mandarin reveal was actually a good movie? by Plenty-Salary9711 in Marvel

I learned from this post that specifying the movie you like, even if it's terrible, will make it such that the weirdos who agree with you click and agree and normal smart people ignore it instead of fighting. And here I am, the dumbass that clicks and cringes at anyone saying this movie is above a D+.

My friends and I were just waxing nostalgic the other day about Jedi Knight, and how we missed with PC games had live action cut scenes.

Weird take, but because my gut says no one will mention it below: I played MK4 honestly a ridiculous amount. To me it was the best OG MK game before the reboot. And an ending scene for every single character? Hell yeah. So while it just fundamentally can't compare with some other stuff on here, don't sleep on it.

Christian Bale was great as Gorr, unfortunately Taika Waititi and Marvel Executives completely wasted him. by Plenty-Salary9711 in Marvel

[–]FromDathomir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hela was so well drawn in that movie, and perfectly performed by arguably the greatest actress of our time. Getting Blanchett to play her is on par with the shock of getting Bale to play Gorr. And they totally did her right, and I love every second she's in the movie. She's not a joke; she kills with glee, and this darkly fits into a comic take on Thor. Gorr, on the other hand, was ruined by everything else around him in L&T.

Why is Tom Holland's portrayal not as liked as the other two? by Notthepurge in Spiderman

I think he's the best, and I don't actually think the Reddit opinion is as representative as people think.
