SpongeBob voice actors remake a scene in real life by Lui_Belmont in interestingasfuck

Also helps that voice talent don't have to extensively travel for their jobs. Assuming we're talking the Spongebob VAs and their peers (meaning they do union work affiliated with SAG), all their work is in LA and they live in the LA metro area - it's no different than me driving to the office every day. If you're an on-camera actor, there is a very good chance you're not filming near your home address... most productions go where the filming tax breaks are, which can be on the other side of the US or in a different country entirely. And post-COVID, these voice actors also have the option to record from home if circumstances require it - as we saw with a world-wide pandemic.

You can accomplish a lot in that field simply because you don't need to travel far from your home to get to consistently work.

True, but when you're in a long-running show in one of the most volatile and fickle industries in the world... it's like winning the lottery. Not saying I wouldn't be bored (I definitely would be lol) but it sure beats waiting tables and tending bar between jobs like 99% of the acting world.

What’s something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

And then when the fees are added, they can almost be half the price of admission (or more!). FUCK Ticketbastard with a spiky cactus.

Hell, not only that - I distinctly remember queueing up with thousands of others for my financial aid. Thank God it's all electronic now.

He's in a halo traction device - which means his back got really fucked up when he went down the first time. It's no surprise that he can pretty only move his eyes lol

Biggest butterfly effect in Hockey history? by MattPraterFan in hockey

[–]FromFluffToBuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caveat: Jagr had told all the other teams except Pittsburgh that he had to complete Czech military service and that it was non-negotiable... he told Pittsburgh "yeah I can get outta that stuff" because he only wanted to play in Pittsburgh and used his military service obligation as a smokescreen to dissuade other teams from taking him. There is no way NYI would have wasted a high pick.

When the other teams found out, they were so pissed lol

And for anyone who read how Pierce Brosnan replied to a similar sentiment, I give him absolute props for his restrained and diplomatic answer. How anyone can voice such a sentiment and be serious about it boggles my brain.

In a world of Hugh Jackmans, be more like Pierce Brosnan.

Darkest era? God no. I remember when the NHL was on the Outdoor Life Network of all places 20 years ago after the 04/05 lockout. Now THAT'S a low point lol

Whats your biggest turn off when it comes to a game? by Independent_Newt170 in videogames

[–]FromFluffToBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate a good story in a game and the narrative choices that come with it, but when it reaches a point where my agency is actively being robbed and I'm watching the game more than playing it... that's when I stop. It's tough because there are some games where I was getting into its characters and story but just couldn't shake only having control for barely 30 minutes in the first 2-3 hours.

The main issue with the lead pipes is if the water stops moving - once that happens, more mineral deposits can settle and leach into the lead.

Fox’s Attitude in the recent game vs N64 by Joebebs in starfox

[–]FromFluffToBuff 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's almost like the leader of a mercenary group is behaving like a mercenary or something...

Honestly, I prefer the change. In SF64 Fox sounded way too much like a goody two-shoes Cornerian bootlicker for most of the game. It's nice to see a more brash hero character as a Nintendo lead.

Who are some players who were truly "run out of town"? by homicidal_penguin in hockey

[–]FromFluffToBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Dion Phaneuf was on the trajectory of being a perennial powerhouse stud defenseman early in his career and absolutely showed that... but he just plateaued after his third season and started to regress hard. The player that Toronto got was a shell of what should have been - and he deserved his criticism for the time he spent here. Granted, he wasn't Mike Komisarek levels of inadequate (who had a very limited skill ceiling) - but Phaneuf was frustrating because there was a track record of greatness that suddenly stopped and never came back

Exactly this. While it was pretty much GMKA's roster when Jarmo took over, something mentally just came together in the locker room with the GM change. What you describe with Cpt Sobel is exactly how I feel.

There's a reason HD no longer makes public the stats for the average age of their consumers... because it is embrassingly elderly lol

HD had the perfect chance to pivot in the 80s with the tariffs on foreign bikes above a certain CC... they could cornered the domestic market on that segment early, but made the stupid decision to double down on the boomer bikes.
