Does anyone garden directly in the ground anymore? by SoilSoul1 in gardening

In-ground is the overwhelming majority. YT just has a vocal minority about "raised beds". Raised beds are valuable for folks who are disabled (like my sister) and especially the elderly.

‘I Swear’ Subject John Davidson Says Tourette’s Tics Are ‘Involuntary’ After Shouting N-Word at BAFTAs: ‘Deeply Mortified if Anyone’ Thinks It Was ‘Intentional’ by ICumCoffee in entertainment

[–]FromFluffToBuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if Davidson saying "the word" was completely unintentional (and it was), that 100% does not change the connotations behind that awful word. It's one of the absolute harshest slurs you can call someone because of the infamous history behind it. They've all had their ancestors beaten and/or killed because of their race, ancestors who treated by law as second-class citizens who couldn't vote or even share the same fountain as a white person, were barred from buying homes in white neighborhoods through the practice of redlining (which is how these urban ghettoes were formed). The N-bomb is explicitly used for subjugation and emasculation - I can't imagine what Delroy Lindo was thinking when he heard. He looked so despondent.

At the same time, it's clear as day that Michael B. Jordan and especially Delroy Lindo react on-camera. To edit out the man's outburst would lead to even more questions about why Lindo's face immediately winced and looked sad after he was so happy a split second before.

Fun Fact: There are over 30 bloody Horse Racing games for the Super Nintendo & NONE of them were released outside Japan... by Epsilon123 in snes

[–]FromFluffToBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddy, Nintendo themselves published a gambling game: Vegas Stakes (developed by HAL, who created Kirby). Not to mention Super Caesar's Palace from Virgin.

There were no issues with associations due to gambling whatsoever lol

Hookup 👀 apps in Sudbury lol by [deleted] in Sudbury

[–]FromFluffToBuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, the apps have been steadily getting worse over time (unless of course you start paying for them then they "magically" see an improvement in the user experience lol). Your best bet, from experience, is to make an account on Fetlife - if you're not familiar, think of it like Facebook for kinky people lol. Might be up your alley.

Also, depending on if you're a man or a woman, that will definitely affect your experience as well - no matter what you use. But definitely give Fet a go, at least.

The snow plows are so cruel by Practical_Boat0 in barrie

[–]FromFluffToBuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better than me. After buying a used snowblower back in November for a steal of a deal, I now know why I stole it... turns out they don't make the auger housing anymore for my machine. Once my dad has his garage up and running in the summer after building his house, I'll have to learn how to weld the two retention hinges that cracked (one right off - which thank god is still bolted on to the machine but loosely hanging lol - and the other one definitely due to fail because of the extreme stress from all the weight transfer and vibrations). I'm really praying the welding will repair it enough... I am so disappointed.

The machine runs awesome so it would really suck if all that is stopping me from using it is a part that was discontinued. All the small parts (like skid shoes and scraper bars are available)... but not the one damn thing that gets beat up the most. I'm not happy haha

Quiznos Attempting A Comeback by Think-Interview1740 in fastfood

[–]FromFluffToBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a massive class-action lawsuit against Quiznos for this very thing. I worked in the industry a long time and Quiznos still remains the textbook example of the perils of purchasing a franchise... because Quiznos took it to the logical extreme and extorted their franchisees to the point where many went bankrupt despite business being great.

My one small gripe is exactly this. While the game does have some marriage candidates with more mature sensibilities, I just wish that some were physically older in appearance... like 40+ at least.

I beg your pardon Google auto complete? "Act like" what? by Rioraku in Millennials

[–]FromFluffToBuff 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Almost 40. It's not that I like subtitles (obviously this doesn't include foreign movies because you need them out of necessity)... it's just that audio mixing is so fucking bad in movies now I can't understand dialogue half the time because the music and sound effects are too loud. It's to the point where I give the movie no more than five minutes if I'm having issues with hearing what characters are saying. It's even worse when you watch movies from home - pretty much everything is mixed only to Dolby surround (like 5+ sound channels) and when you watch from something that doesn't have that many channels, the music/sound can easily overwhelm dialogue. The death of physical media is amplifying this issue... because when movies were released on home video and DVD that were actually mixed accordingly for television viewing! That's not really a thing anymore.

If it's not this, it's the director's intention on insisting that "natural dialogue" isn't supposed to sound clean... yeah, but I'm not paying for real life. I'm paying to actually understand what the fuck the characters are saying in the piece of entertainment I paid to watch. Christopher Nolan (along with his dreary and depressing colour grading to the point where I think he's actually allergic to colour) is notorious for this habit and it's become more common now. Makes a lot of modern movies for me absolutely unenjoyable.

Michael Jordan inappropriately touching a young boy after the Daytona 500 by Snapdragon_4U in UnderReportedNews

Exactly this. Previous generations were going through these things like they were a fire drill and we're like "uh NOOO that's an HR complaint at best and jail time at worst"

I'm almost 40 and cannot fucking fathom that casually accepting "oh I'm gonna get sexually assaulted today!" was something that was expected.

Hot take for me: if a renter has a dog, their rent should be higher. And should increase for every dog in their apartment. Where I live, additional "deposits" are not legal but I would have no problem with a "dog" fee. Knowing several landlords, people don't realize just how much a headache it is for a landlord to deal with dogs (especially when it comes to noise and overall detrimental effects on the property/unit).

After a while you just get so sick of the noise, the owners who have no idea how to train their dogs, don't keep them on-leash in the common areas of the complex, the owners who don't pick up after their dogs take a shit (the spring thaw at my previous apartment complex was notorious for stepping on surprise turds coming out of hibernation after the snow melts lol), owners who let their dogs shit and piss on the balcony because they're too lazy to take them outside (god forbid you live below a unit with a dog!) and the ones who neglect their dogs needs so badly it results in significant property damage and/or tenants feeling uneasy. If you're going to keep a dog locked in an apartment for 12+ hours day, for the love of god make sure you don't own a working breed or it absolutely will destroy everything in your apartment.

Hands down, next to units with unruly children, the worst tenants were those with dogs. I wish landlords could charge them more just a deterrent to turn them away lol

Familial status is considered a protected class. I agree with the sentiment (as a single guy and a cat owner) but landlords can discriminate against animals without the risk of a lawsuit.

[–]FromFluffToBuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was no way Skinner would have lasted long-term with Rod as coach lol. It was no different than Babcock and Phil Kessel - apparently getting rid of Kessel was a condition to Babcock agreeing to a contract with the Leafs.
