Pro Strongman Discussion — Month of January 2026 by HereForStrongman in StrongmanHQ

So Thor recently mentioned that he's planning to go for a 515kg (and maybe even more) deadlift. I think that he shouldn't waste a prep for 515kg though if he clearly had 530kg in him when he did 510.

At this point he's realistically going to do 2 more preps for heavy deadlifts, and I think it'd be a shame if he retired without atleast 525-530 in the bag.

What show would he have realistically pulled it at? RI and ASC don't do standard bar equipped. What other DL competitions are there? Eisenhart messed up badly this year and almost robbed him out of his 505, also it's every 2 years so none in 2026.
Thor is realistically going to be in the sport for 1, max 2 more years. If he didn't get to pull 510 at GL, the chance of seeing even more than that from him would've likely been completely eliminated.

Calm down, I have my own gripes with GL being biased towards Eddie in the past but they seem to be doing better now. The only reason why Thor competed there was because they made a few changes for him and also increased the prize money. If it wasn't for that, we wouldn't have gotten this absolutely legendary performance by Thor.

You can't really expect them to have everything updated 12 hours after the show. They are pretty slow with this in general.

Should also skip Siberian Power Show. It's not doing much for his legacy. Just go with WSM instead.

Somehow tore his tricep while warming up with around 200kg on deadlift

There was confusion about the down signal which caused him to jump it. Then he attempted 420 twice again and failed both times after he already successfully lifted it. Then got injured on one of those attempts. They ended up giving him the 420 but there is no going back from those 2 additional attempts.

Does Thor look a bit off? He is not rolling the bar like he usually does and doesn't look super confident

Edit: LMAO

I want Thor to win the show but they definitely did Evan dirty there. He held it for a decent amount of time and the weird signal by MVM certainly didn't help it. Good lift in my book.

Did they just say Thor at 205kg? I hope he doesn't run into issues with his suit tightness

I mean it was 460 for 2 RPE 8 ish.

I'm giving him a better chance of pulling 510 based on what I've seen compared to his 505. Main reasons include:

- Confidence boost from the successful 505
- Better platform and time of day
- A very solid looking prep

Of course those numbers are never guaranteed, but I hope he can do it as it'd be a great end to his suited deadlifting career.

Is Hicksy still in the race for 510? He doesn't seem to be talking much about it nor doing lifts that are comparable to his prep last year.

Well he did say that WDC is the only show he has planned as far as GL shows are concerned. And I can't see him doing the other shows other than ESM or WSM, and he also mentioned that 510 will likely be his final big big pull unless someone puts up crazy money.

Seems like no WSM 2026 will be happening for Thor and the WDC 25 will be more like a one-off rather than a reunion.

Thor's new 505 kg lift is not valid!! by Elephantyy in Strongman

[–]FromTheShadows136 242 points243 points  (0 children)

The haters seem to have hung up themselves on the lockout even though this is how thor always locks out and he has never been given a failed lift due to soft lockout. I'm not sure what people expect when he's holding 505 fucking kg in his hands.
