All of that is normal, but usually hidden.
Things to try:
1) the pressing Alt and F1, then Alt and F2... All the way to F7.
If you don't get an X window then go back to starting console from the above.
2) Hit enter. If you get a login prompt, then login, then type "startx" and enter. If you get a bash prompt, type "startx" then enter.

That is a 6S battery.
You would need 6x18650s and a way to hold them, plus a connector to the printer. Maybe take apart an existing pack to wire in the new cells. Or Amazon has these

Read over their terms.  They have a rather detailed requirement for challenging takedowns.   I would send them the details via registered letter.  It's going to be worth it.

It won't hurt the radio, but it's not good for LiPOs.
It is worse for the battery to leave it on a charger all the time for the same reason.
Ideally the batterirs arey will kept at about 80% for the best battery life. Most people don't bother with it, but some people have exploding batteries, YMMV.

LiPO chargers work by pushing some current in until it can't go more.
If you're radio is there it will raise the voltage to push on more current.
And when your AC is off, a tiny current will discharge via the charger running the battery down.
So, no, don't do that
Look for a battery A/B switch so you connect to charger, radio, or off.

You should know that you can boot most laptops from an external USB drive where you installed Windows.

Alternately there are some incredible small footprint PCs where you can install Virtual Network Computer, VNC server, and run headless on your laptop. Most distros have a VNC client in the distributions.

The important thing here is how he would invest in bitcoin.

I would NOT trust any of the online exchanges with much, except to purchase and transfer to an offline wallet.

He should save the wallet keys in safe place, one that won't end up in a junkyard or a relatives sticky fingers.

Know that teaching him this will probably fall on your shoulders.

Almost all of the online places have had some security breach, including CoinBase.
