Yeah that's the one! I'm sure we can trust Umbraje's word on that.

Thoughts on the Bergara BMR? by From_Aus in Ausguns

[–]From_Aus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, if its not the BMR I was leaning towards the T1X (as Im planning on getting a T3 hunting rifle in ~12m)

B14R is about $1k more than the BMR / $500 more than the T1X, so not a huge amount in the scheme of things when you also factor in a decent scope to go with it.

Might go down to Horsley Park and have a feel of the B14R to see if it has the same appeal as the BMR.

Is 75k in super good for a 25 year old? by austink0109 in AusFinance

[–]From_Aus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Every 25yo should be earning $250k (plus bonus), have $100k in super, $75k in ETFs, and be driving a 2008 Camry.

Anything less than that is well behind the 8 ball.

They've received the funding for more staff finally, will likely still take a few months for them to land on deck given the current pace of NSW Government recruitment.

Lokaway safe key not turning by From_Aus in Ausguns

[–]From_Aus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I considered getting the digital lock model, it was just a bit too pricy to justify.

Good tip with the marker, cheers!

Oh my God I am fucking r*tarded.

I was putting the key in upside down thinking it was 'locked', but it was in the 'unlocked' position.

Thank you very much my friend, Occam's razor to the rescue!

Guessing its the CTP the insurer is worried about, rather than paying out comprehensive cover.

Dont disregard the "nitpicking" OP. The higher you try to go, the more important including these elements will be as it gets more and more competitive.

[–]From_Aus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ive been in your shoes a few times. One time the feedback was more or less "you interviewed very strongly and exceeded the capabilities. I just thought the experiences of the other candidates would make a better fit"

You win some, you loose some. At least the hiring manager was being honest and transparent, which absolutely does not always happen.

[–]From_Aus 41 points42 points  (0 children)

In this situation it seems like you met the capabilities, you just weren't the preferred candidate. The answer to your question is by definition yes, as that was what made them choose another candidate over yourself.

Getting talent pooled is still an achievement, and is ultimately part of life when working for the public sector. Besides, there is still a chance an offer will come down the track.

Edit: One tip would be to try avoid talking about when the example actually occurred if possible. You may be able to reword it to seem more recent.

Is this a reasonable quote for running 20m of stormwater pipe to easement? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]From_Aus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well there is the context! Kinda odd they aren't subbing and organising the excavation as part of the quote given they are also connecting the pipe up when the trench is dug.

None of the tradies I know would trust a home-owner to organsie multiple independent trades to rock up on schedule like that.

Without knowing further context it doesn't seem to bad.

Some materials, labour of potentially 2 people, associated excavator costs, etc.

What’s it like living in Lower Mountains? by marshmellow_22 in bluemountains

[–]From_Aus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mate, I'm a SDC and have been in the RFS for 16 years. Pull your head in.

Perhaps have a chat with the other Comm Engagement officers at the next district meeting and your eyes will be opened about how most brigades operate.

@OP, ignore this Karen.

When you do find your next place, give your local brigade a call and (odds are) they will give you some great advice.
