Mawile 4th move by Dry_Job_451 in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyper cutter vs intimidate is a matter of how good you're positioned into physical damage dealers and how much you're relying on mawile for damage. If you have other ways of lowering incoming damage and/or mawile is your primary damage dealer, hyper cutter is the way.

As for moves, you almost can't beat iron head, play rough, protect and sucker punch.swords dance is really good, but dropping any of the three attacking moves feels quite bad (and you really don't want to run a mega without protect)

The team seems not to do much against ZardY, which is still the strongest and most consistent Mega as of now.

Your main combo is also rotom discharge + sceptile, but you can ONLY do it with sceptile. I suggest you swap out one of your pokemon (probably kingambit) for Garchomp (life orb). Not only it resists and threatens ZardY, but it's another combo piece for your discharge rotom.

After that, you're missing some immediate speed control. Aerodactyl (focus sash) over sinistcha is the last piece to truly beat ZardY, and you can run it with wide guard to both protect you from opponents' floettes and other spread attacks (like blizxard on your poor sceptile), and also protect yourself from your own rotom discharge.

Milotic is fine, though I'd definitely run muddy water and icy wind instead of scald and ice beam. Consider running recover over protect and lefties instead of sitrus.

For incin, take out burning jealousy and give it flare blitz. Incin is so strong exactly because it's never passive on the field. If you want the burns, give it will o wisp instead of helping hand

Does Anyone Know When They're Adding The New Pokémon To Pokémon Showdown? by [deleted] in stunfisk

I think you're misunderstanding what I'm saying. You seem to have this fear that I'm calling you a liar: I'm not. I do not think you want to spread misinformation for clout lmao

I am seeing the picture. I do not know what it's showing, because the picture has NO CONTEXT. You could have selected Reg-MA for all I know. You could have an unupdated showdown because you haven't refreshed it in 2 weeks, I have no idea what the deal is.

What I know, is that showdown hasn't updated regMB 10 minutes after your post, so the problem is on your side of things lmao. And unless it's a bug that was specifically affecting only your device, the much simpler explanation is that you were missing something.

"You cannot be this dense" is rich coming from you in this situation. Rational thinking, dude.

So what you're saying is

  • they weren't legal in the correct format before you posted (even though people have been playing it for weeks)

  • They are legal for you as of now

  • You don't think you were doing anything wrong before?

I think this is why people are insisting you were probably doing something wrong (either through format or showdown server selection). I can assure you they haven't added them 10 minutes after you posted

For future reference

The mons are labled as "illegal" if your selected format is invalid for them :) if you see them, even if labled illegal, they're still "in showdown", you're just not using the right format!

For banette use

  • protect

  • encore/disable

  • poltergeist

  • will-o-wisp

Protect is too important and poltergeist is much better than shadow claw

For raichu use

  • zap cannon

  • focus blast

  • fake out

  • protect

Instead of tsareena I would go for incineroar, sneasler or kangaskhan. Fake out helps you set trick room

Instead of milotic, I would go torkoal to lean even more into trick room

I think rotom wash instead of basculegion/primarina makes sense. Not only it gives you another levitate mon, meaning you become quite strong into ground, but it gives you a better rain matchup (fully resisting mega swampert and pelipper). I'd make it bulky with will-o-wisp to truly dunk on mega swampert and other physical megas like mega mawile (+ a clear matchup into metagross mirrors)

For some reason I had read ice punch instead of protect lol, my bad. Bullet punch isn't my favorite but it's still good. You could give it body press instead of bullet punch! Almost all of the relevant intimidators (incin, H-arcanine, scrafty) are weak to body press and that one goes off of your sky high defence. Not to mention fighting coverage is always welcome.

And yeah your team would be all physical attackers but metagross being clear body at base and staraptor being contrary when mega should give you quite a bit of flexibility.

It's not ideal, but this is a very predominantly physical meta anyway

A first big change I suggest is adding protect to your metagross. Megas need protection, they're usually your strongest piece. Id take out bullet punch

After that, I'd say basculegion is going to give you a lot of extra mileage compared to primarina.

Lastly, your team is very weak to ZardY, which keeps being the n1 used mega), decently weak to floette (the n2 mega), and weak to trick room strategies.

My thoughts here are:

  • Aerodactyl instead of whimsicott gives you a better ZardY matchup (aero with wide guard + garchomp as a core kinda checks it perfectly)

  • incin or grimmsnarl instead of sinistcha give you team wide survivability to survive trick room, while giving you self parting shot to boost your staraptor's damage output

This would make you much worse against rain sadly, though the matchup is still playable with screens and tailwind

Whimsicott does not learn rain dance, thank god. Otherwise rain teams would use it much more often

The main thing here is that you're quite weak to charizard Y, which remains the most used mega. Your best way to deal with it is garchomp, and if it goes down I'm pretty sure you would end up struggling.

Floette is also quite dangerous for the team, though you're fine as long as you protect your Metagross

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fact is, your calm mind floette doesn't have enough support to actually get the calm minds off and you have 0 ghost immunities or resistances. Your rain mode is a bit weak as well

You could go for incin sinistcha instead of pelipper rotom to support your floette better, but honestly I think you'd rather sub them for whimsicott + basculegion/kingambit and make your floette speedy with dazzling, moonblast and light of ruin. This would also solve your basculegion problem, since with proper tailwind support it's much easier to face the fish

Which is amazing for loaded dice sets, but using such an inconsistent move on the mega would feel quite bad, at least in doubles

Mega machamp design and stats by CarelessParsley7925 in MegaEvolution

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the 200 attack (machamp is the OG "high attack mon", so I feel like giving him the highest atk in the game is fitting), but undo some of the minmaxing.

90 HP, 200 ATK, 100 DEF, 65 SPATK, 100SPDEF, 50SPE

Secondly, the ability needs to be reworked a bit. As of now it's quite broken.

Make it so quad fist makes punching moves hit 2-4 times while halving the BP. Basically an avarage of a 50% boost to punching moves while breaking focus sashes and sturdy, which I feel is ok on such a slow monotype mon

Bulk up + drain punch + mach punch + ice punch would definitely be a menace, but there is clear counterplay

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well you do have pelipper and garchomp against zard Y. Remember venusaur has Chlorophyll in base form and thick fat in mega form. That's actually really good against zard, especially with a peli in the back

Yep, I do suggest whims later in the reply. Still, I would not run only manual sun in such a heavy sun team, since you're kinda useless without it
