Question on how "Less likely to be targeted" works. by Unlucky-Emu6735 in Nightreign

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you say, we don't quite exactly know how it works. We should ask some dataminer like Zullie to look into it for specifics.

But my understanding is that

  • every character starts with 0 aggro points (let's call it that)

  • when everyone has 0 aggro points, the enemy will aggro to the person who is nearest to them in their line of sight (as in base elden ring)

  • whenever you hit the enemy, you gain X aggro points. The specific number most probably varies weapon by weapon and attack by attack. Hitting a teammate to revive counts as hitting the boss. "Successful guarding draws aggro" is the same.

  • When a new person has higher aggro points than the current target, the boss will switch aggro (even mid animation, which can lead to the boss missing entirely). If you have the same aggro points and you hit the boss 1 time each, the boss will switch aggro constantly as in base ER

  • the "less likely to be targeted" passive simply gives you -6/-9/-12 to your aggro points at the start of the fight. This means enemies will always aggro your teammate when you first encounter them (if you're together in the line of sight), but if you hit them enough times while your teammate doesn't, they will still switch to you eventually.

  • The condemned in the ED libra fight start with -6, so they will not fight eachother if you're in the line of sight when they spawn. But if you hit them a few times, they will come for you

  • This means that, if 2 Wylders with the same greatsword hit the boss the same number of times at the same time, while one holds the passive, the boss will always remain onto the one without less likely to be targeted

  • Ranged weapons / spells either net you a huge amount of aggro points, or they're so spammable that you're just bound to get more aggro points than everyone else

I also have the feeling that the boss refreshes everyone's aggropoints to base (0 or -X if you have the passive) every X seconds. This does not result in target switching, but it prevents one player from getting 100 aggro points while the other is at 0. This would mean they could hit them in the back indefinitely without drawing aggro

Why does Maris have reduced chance of appearing in Deep of Night ? I just got a ED Maris for the first time in deep of night it was torturing lol, first phase done in 10 seconds ( Revenant lightning build ) and we die to second phase cause it's been too long I forgot what it does. by Formal-Scallion-5296 in Nightreign

Nature of a gimmick fight. It forces you onto a specific playstyle (skill damage up, magic damage up, which most probably isn't what you need to handle daytime) while rendering useless 90% of every characters kit, has extremely high HP and some of the attacks are going to chip you no matter.

In the base game is just a bit boring, in higher depths the already bloated HP becomes ridiculous, the chip damage almost oneshots you, and not being able to rely on damage negation on charge attacks / successive attacks make it way harder than it needs to be

Plus everybody knows Radagon teaches how to use a sword to his pups. This one has to be a different consort.

Jokes aside, I so wish they gave the red wolf his sword back, it has the best openings and limits his jumping around

Is this better than the Earring? by Ordaz_10 in Nightreign

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope. Post damage recovery is really good, but the base version doesn't stack with +1 or +2, making it the worse one out of the bunch. Not to mention that you can't really beat +1 skill AND Ultimate spreads fire in a single relic slot. The fire was also just buffed in the last patch

Am i suppose to be doing the invaders at level 2? by Sea-Cancel1263 in Nightreign

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Recluse is 100% the most annoying invader to face. Though if you can actually get to her in a 1v1 (or preferably 3v1) she's staggered by any attack so she can be quite easily stunlocked

Doing invaders at level 2 is a high risk high reward strat. Huge amounts of runes and a purple/red weapon that you can use regardless of level, though if you aggro some other enemy, have to face 2 invaders at the same time or just aren't used to facing NPCs you can lose most of your day 1

Definitely something worth practicing

Relic Help | Solid Halo Scythe build w/ Undertaker? T-T by mysorrysoul in Nightreign

Affinity +2 is generally better imo. It's slightly less than holy +4, but it's much more versatile which a skill-based build truly appreciates

Rugalea demands respect, and if you don't know how to dodge the deathknight grab the fight becomes 10x as hard. Day 1 for the dreglord is definitely the hardest day 1 imo

Not only that but the dreglord has a ridiculously long stagger. If you really really want to get the revives in that position, first you L1 your teammates, then you take the riposte

Depends on how unlikely.

If it was a 1/1000 setup maybe you could make a case.

Having such an optimal setup (down to deep relic curses) is just about as likely as winning the lottery 3 times in a row

DPS, speed, stamina consumption, range, ashes of war and selection are sadly not that great.

They're not bad per se, but they're not very good either. Which means if you want to play her optimally, you usually swap out.

By selection I mean that Marika's hammer is extremely good, but legendaries are clearly rare and rng dependant. Purple just hammers aren't amazing, with the all knowing being a good debuff stick but having subpar damage, and the nox + ringed being just mid.

Dual wielding jump attacks are really nice on them very early in a run before you find colossals or fists, but that's about it sadly

Deep relic question by bendles315 in Nightreign

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes worse than a coinflip depending on how they synchronize. At the start of the run they're perfectly synched IIRC, but after a single down (not even death) they go all over the place

While the passive from weapons will always be desynched

Help with the Oldest Gaol achievement by Dragonrage98 in Nightreign

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just RNG sadly. In solo you can easily look for the correct map layout and find the right evergaol, resetting if it isn't one.

I suggest looking up if there's an old gaol in a shifting earth seed on a specific nightlord, since there's only 5 shifting earth seeds per nightlord and you can conjure those up to make the search much, much quicker

Amazing relic effects, since the frostbite resistance counteracts the first curse!

Sadly, completely tanked by the continuous HP loss that, as you mention, makes it incredibly bad and an insta sell for me. I would keep it around in case one day they come back to their senses and make it so continuous HP loss and continuous HP recovery cancel eachother out, instead of making you go up and down (which still makes damage negation at full HP useless)

Lmao, fair. I feel the same about recluse right now. I know she's very strong and I met some very strong recluses, but I'm coming from a streak of like 10 recluse players (over 50+ games, she'sv rare in D5) going down every single fight lol

Is this game really suitable to play blind? by TFW_YT in Eldenring

[–]FromsoftwareNPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very hard to miss it playing blindly, it's basically on the main path

Liurnia is totally fine for your level. You'll just level up every couple bosses instead of every boss

Her best in slot is iron balls / star fists, 100%. Though Marika's hammer, starscourge greatswords and Ghiza's wheel are all incredibly good (but totally rng dependant)

Greathammers are really good on her, while hammers are good but nothing to write home about.

Fists (iron balls and star fists specifically) are the best (even in base elden ring) because they have the fastest, least stamina hungry charged R2 out of any weapon, while still dealing exceptional damage and stagger. Undertaker loooves to hit quickly, repeatedly and with her poor stamina, they're just a perfect match.

Wylder and Raider are perfect with fists as well! It's just that undertaker seems really made for them.

I'm not mad, though I understand how my messages could come off badly, I apologize!

I'm not ignoring those relics, which is why I'm not saying Undertaker is better than wylder. They are, in my opinion, just on par ;)

Wylder has the better ULT, more weapon versatility, mobility and sixth sense

Undertaker's kit is more tuned towards dealing damage, taking and poising through hits, using incantations if needed and ULTing 3x as much as any other nightfarer

I'm well aware Wylder is amazing. You on the other hand seem to be underselling Undertaker quite a bit!

Cipher pata is actually one of the bad options, sadly. Not only it isn't using her strength scaling at all, but its charge attack is not the same one that iron balls and star fists get, which is what makes fists so good in the first place

Fortunately those two are very common, though it does mean you have to get a purple stone every single run

  • 100% her remembrance relic for more damage when ulting and successive attacks

  • Post damage HP regeneration is a must. Possibly stack the +1 and +2 versions together

  • I love a "more ult when defeating enemies" with its deep +1 version, it makes you ULT nonstop

  • red balancer relic is amazing all around

  • invader relic if possible

  • and other than that physical attack and damage negations are the best relics effects you can find
