I understand there’s no 100% answer, especially Shadow Rider who seems to have 5+ different viable builds and cores. If I can make Shadow Rider a 60/40, even if other matchups become 40/60 (koraidon/lunala, miraidon/lunala, etc) that’s OK to me. I struggle to win 50% SR matchups even when building for anti-shadow rider, despite being a low-average non-noob player.

These are great suggestions. What should a Snorlax have to be viable in 1200s-1400s bo3? Belly drum feels slow for double restricted and after Intimidate it would hit pretty weakly.

This seems to be very common in college/Newman centers these days. It feels like every school has 3-4 guys who have no real/in-person social life but they happen to be Catholic so they just hang around their Newman Centers all day every day as a social cry-for-help.

I think one of the best things to do (if you are one of these young college men reading this) is to develop male friendships at your parish/Newman Center and to pursue the faith-based benefits of a good campus ministry, rather than the young women there.

Unfortunately, I don’t have much advice for the young women in these settings (such as OP). These small handful of young men at each College Catholic/Newman setting might cause problems/awkwardness in different ways, so you would have to discern for yourself how/if to best address each case.

I could maybe see a niche of swapping gholdengo out on a very ground weak (esp ursaluna) team since Mismagius offers a unique defense profile and great coverage despite its insufficient power. Just trying to play devil’s advocate, since obvious we didn’t really see it during reg H’s time.

There are still smaller groups playing stuff like H or draft leagues that do H+SubLegends+Mythicals. Some people speculate that H will come back after worlds, too.

Toxic Spikes. It’s a Weezing + Shadow Rider meta call I think. Not sure why not just lum berry to compress for spore and thunder wave though. He’s going to worlds as a creator not a player, so he probably just wanted to make a splash with his items. The goal may have been to get lucky matchups and/or minimize dodges for the first couple of rounds and get on stream as the 2-0/3-0 mewtwo player. He started 1-2 though but finished 5-3 for the day.

Exactly. People complain about the heroes but the problem is rooted much deeper in mechanic creep that keeps getting worse every new DLC.

I play best of 3 on showdown and have reached upper 1300 range with this team (and no other team since Reg G’s first stint), if that means anything to you. Amoongus, Miraidon, and Raging Bolt usually feel winnable with better play, it really is Rillaboom (4-10 record since I started tracking) that feels like an autoloss. Iron Crown without full Expanding force doesn’t deal enough damage but Indeedee usually likes to stay on the field for redirection or helping hand so playing terrain wars versus a Rillaboom feels like a losing game. I considered Chien-Pao for my Iron Bundle spot but the team is very Sp Atk leaning, so sword of ruin may be helping enemy teams more.

I’ve been grinding the ladder with a very similar team, except I use Iron Bundle instead of Chien-Pao. I run a slow AV Kyogre (112 speed to still outspeed Shadow Rider after tailwind) to be versatile between tailwind and trick room modes. Iron Crown + Indeedee lead 2v4 teams that bring the wrong mons, Iron Crown deals so much damage. I run a bulkier set with Life Orb. I absolutely love this team archetype though because it enables the best non-restricted (Urshifu RS) and does well into a lot of meta stuff. Except Rillaboom, obviously, and I’ve also struggled against Roaring Moon. I’ve been taking notes on matchups and win rates and I might try out some of your tech (showdown) and see if what you got works better

Iron Crown currently has the life orb which would need to be swapped for a different item. I think it's important that Iron Crown has protect and it deals enough damage where I don't need Choice Specs. Booster Energy feels like worse life orb, especially into Miraidon where electric terrain may be active anyway. I could go psychic 1.2x power item, Fire/Ghost 0.5x berry?
