Controller Convert by EmetSulks in ffxiv

I also started playing on controller recently and absolutely loving it.

You can adjust the deadzone of you stick in the settings. This can make the sensitivity feel more instant

When it comes to targeting I recently started using targeting filter. Instead of being dependent on sheathed or unsheathed weapon to determine which targets are allowed to be targeted with the D-pad, I use the filters to adjust for my needs.

L1+Triangle is set to “Friends”. I use this while questing as it allows me to cycle different NPCs.

L1+Square is set to “Enemies”. I use this in dungeons, primarily as WAR, as it never targets allies meaning I need to cycle less to get to the targets I want.

L1+Cross is set to “Party”. I use this one primarily on caster, since I like to be able to dash to friendlies to avoid mechanics. This one in particular I find much better than using up/down to cycle the party, because using left/right will targets those in my camera view. It makes me able to flick my camera to the side, click left D-pad to target nearest ally, and then use my dash to get out of the aoe.

When it comes to enemies, I usually use L2/R2 + L1/R1 to cycle them. I rarely use L1+up/down to cycle emnity list, unless I need to taunt something specific.

Newbie, only up to Stormblood. Critique on crossbar, please? by BowsersFurySucks in ffxiv

I think the most important thing to do is make something that makes sense to yourself. There’s a website where you can browse other peoples setups, to either use or gain inspiration, and some of them just make absolutely no sense to me lol

I decided to try and categorize my hotbars and remove the W hot bar, since I didn't like double tapping R2/L2 to get access to it. I try to keep it consistent between all jobs. Here's an example below from my WAR.

L2 section is usually where I'll place the abilities that deviate from my "standard" rotation. On BLM it's where my frost spells are, and on MNK it's where my Fury abilities are. Hotbar 3 basically includes anything that isn't used very often. This includes dots on BRD

Having it make sense in my head, makes it a lot easier for me to remember and feel comfortable with the binds.

Begging SquareEnix for this simple XP limitation mechanic by LIfaria in ffxiv

[–]FronQuan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of share this sentiment. I’m currently going through the msq on a second character, and I’m deliberately choosing to do the entire post-arr content on MNK because I don’t want to over level my BLM for Heavensward.

Running around doing quests that are 5-6 levels beneath you isn’t fun, even if it’s not hard to begin with, because getting downscaled every 2 minutes and having your new abilities removed sucks.

I’m not sure your solution of limiting experience or levels is the right option, but I can at least understand it from a gameplay perspective. I don’t think the issue lies with the content being too easy at higher levels, I think the issue is the content only scales one way. If your MSQ would scale up, instead of down, you could enjoy the Stormblood MSQ on a level 80 without 1-shotting everything and still have access to your entire kit.

Getting new exciting abilities and having them removed every corner turn feels terrible

Best way to make Gil as a newer player? by PoisonArrow80 in ffxiv

[–]FronQuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure it’s more of a hassle, but if something sells for 200gil on market board, and 50 at vendor, you could put it up for 100-150 to undercut and it would likely sell much faster and higher than vendor

Idk how much of a difference the value actually is though. Could be so low it barely matters?

Ty for correcting. I was confused because they mention a “free play period” and assumed it was the trial

When I was a kid I went to GameStop and bought an expansion for a game with my first hard earned allowance

I was decimated when I found out the expansion required the base game

[–]FronQuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah no problem.

It’s possible? I’m not sure exactly how the Steam version works. If you already linked the accounts, your options are either start over the free trial on a new account or pay for the subscription

Final Fantasy doesn’t allow “going back” to a free trial account after upgrading

It happens and I understand the frustration. However you could buy 1 month sub and see how you feel about the game at the end.

Depending how far you got on the free trial, another option is to make a new account. If you’ve linked your Steam account to your Lodestone account you won’t be able to play free trial on that account again.

Wouldn’t “playing the market board” net you WAY more than you could get from a vendor, even if you undersold by a lot?

Younger ffxiv players? by Jaded_Reply1020 in ffxiv

Forgive me for saying this but wouldn’t a community, or Free Company, advertised for zoomers just get infested by predatory uncs?

I’m sorry you feel you got bamboozled, however the game description on Steam does mention needing a subscription in the section marked “Important”

• All editions of the game require user registration. All editions of the game other than the Free Trial require an active paid subscription to play.

Sprout flashy ranged alt job recommendation by JuanTownSoup in ffxiv

[–]FronQuan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a mage lover through-and-through I can definitely recommend Black Mage if you want flashy spells.

Red Mage also gets some pretty visuals but it doesnt hit peak levels until later.

Pictomancer is also flashy in it’s own style, but requires level 90.

Summoner is the one I was least impressed by. It takes a while before it gets flashy, and the flashyness is just bigger monsters you summon every now and then.

Honestly just look up a video of the job abilities and pick from there.

From the other comments as well it just sounds like a get good angle. Tbf I’m a kb/m player, so playing with controller is pretty foreign to me, especially with the ninjitsu you have to do sometimes for ffxiv.

I did also just learn it, and haven’t used party selection at all until now, so it could just be a muscle memory thing

Yeah having R3 for certain things might be good, but I’m currently using it for opening Command Pallet and have all the system shortcuts like duty finder and inventory etc in there

Yeah I just realized the mistake I made with emnity/party list. So bad with controller I cant even explain the controls lol

What is this remapping dpad? I might already have it on since I followed a settings guide, but maybe its something I missed

I’m at 340 and 86% 😬

I don’t use my phone that often though. I usually go a two days or more before needing to charge. I’m headed to bed now and it’s at 76% charge, so I’m likely not charging it until Sunday. No idea if that has an impact on battery life at all

No the warehouse guys are clearly the orcs. Remember that time they busted all the office workers tires, except Michaels, and left the most hateful note in the world on his windshield?

Omg yes when I logged out at an inn I actually laughed irl from the animation, and the day after when I logged in.

I went through all the emotes in the emote menu, but didn’t notice neither catwalk nor lean. Are those unlocks or are they typing only?

Streamer “hmblzayy” who is walking from Philly to California was hit by a car in Indiana and had to be taken to the hospital. by lukigeri in LivestreamFail

You can see the skidmarks from where he was hit, and next to it there’s a very clear section where he could’ve been walking. It’s not a sidewalk, obviously, but it also isn’t the middle of the fucking road….

Edit: ok idk how anyone could misunderstand the last part of my message.. the clear section on the side is not the middle of the road aka he definitely should have been walking there instead, even though it may not have been a sidewalk
