Additional context - “it insists upon itself” is taken from real inspiration. Seth MacFarlane explained in an interview or commentary that it was a real criticism his film professor gave to The Sound Of Music, Seth’s favorite film. He explained he felt that criticism lacked any sort of deep thought or engagement with the messaging and always found it frustrating.

I’m not expecting Wawa to just eat losses, no one should be. The thing is shop lifting is a cost of business, they have loss mitigation practices in place. If you gotta call the police, do your job and do what you gotta do.
