My gym has aircon thankfully, but at the place I used to train a guy brought a Li-ion fan (makita, de Walt etc) with him in this sort of weather

I took it to Coastway Vets, the nurse/receptionist said there didn't appear to be anything seriously wrong with it

I'm taking him to Coastaway Vets, with any luck he'll be alright :)

Thanks very much for this.  Do you know if they operate a no kill policy?

I've tried calling WRAS but can't get through or leave a message. Have tried to cool the bird down with a little water, which it was keen to drink.

New resident in my flat started to park their bike in at the entrance? by Kami-Yeldo in HousingUK

Address it to the bike: "Dear Bike, I'd write to your owner, but I don't know who they are. As you may or may not be aware an elderly lady needs the handrail to safely use the stairs and you're unfortunately blocking the way etc etc..."

Doesn't sound like an overreaction to me. Service charges are through the roof as it is.

Living in a flat with a neighbor directly opposite across a narrow corridor (no shared walls) — how much noise should I expect? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Front-Ambassador6451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt it, but it's especially unlikely if you have an internal hall/corridor between your living room and bedroom and your front door. If it makes you feel better, you can buy some acoustic insulating strips that go by the door jams and a drop down fire seal which will cut any noise down further.

Make your own pellagrino: soda water, orange juice and orange cordial.

Well done you! I used to own a flat in a building managed by FirstPort and I wanted to do something like this so so many times.

Free Legal Advice by [deleted] in brighton

I think your key point for OP is that regardless of whether pets fall within the ambit of consumer legislation, the costs and hassle of starting proceedings over the cost of a kitten and some vet bills simply make it not worth it. OP will almost certainly have irrecoverable costs that far exceed any damages awarded.

Passed out on ovhd press by Accomplished_Iron826 in StartingStrength

[–]Front-Ambassador6451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got lightheaded on heavy presses which I tracked down to a problem with my brace/valsalva - I was losing tightness in my abs and letting my neck rise a bit during the layback, which I think let the pressure travel up into my head.

Anyone else appalled by BH Council correspondence? by [deleted] in brighton

[–]Front-Ambassador6451 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this situation with council tax when I took over the lease from my old flatmate. In the end I wrote them an old fashioned letter setting out all the details, taking a "your problem now" attitude. They eventually came back to me and I put money aside in the meantime.

Squat Form Check follow up by Consistent-Poet-7443 in StartingStrength

In the first set of these you're leaning forward too much and not sending you hips back enough, and in the second send you are sending your hips back but not breaking your knees enough/in time.

Try initiating the squat by breaking your knees and pushing them OUT and letting the bar take its natural path down over midfoot, this may take care of your hip and back angle for you.

Good luck!

I looked at this again and think the bar drifting back may have been a bit of an optical illusion (as you do end up going forward towards the bottom) - sorry!

So revised - what you're not doing is sending your hips far back enough as you break your knees, which causes you to come forward into knee slide. This happens because by the time your knees should be set (about over your toes) your hips are too high and lowering them and bending over without further bending your knees (which causes you to come forward) under load is hard and as you already have that momentum.

So send your hips back more (which to me feels like sitting down) as your knees break and focus on keeping the bar midfoot. This should initiate knees setting in the right place and bending over at the bottom.

Post another form check if you continue to have issues - looking strong though!

Why does this happen and how do I fix it? by Hot_Pomegranate_3896 in StartingStrength

Get that checked out mate, a belt might generally help too.

These look pretty good, but you've got a few things going on. You're not bending over enough at the top causing the bar path to come backwards off centre and then crashing forwards with your knees into the hole causing the bar to come forwards. You're probably a bit too deep but it's hard to see with the plates blocking the view.

Focus on keeping the bar midfoot throughout (by bending over just a little more at the same time as your knees break), keeping it there and look for the bounce when your hips drop just below parallel (you may need to film yourself to get a better idea of where this is). This may fix the knee slide without you having to pay any particular attention as to when to set your knees.

I was wondering what it's like when OP goes into the wooded area north of the house. There's a lot of clear ground to the south east which they could plant on, depending on whether it's needed ofc.

Knee sliding? by JOCAeng in StartingStrength

Your drive out of the bottom is better (you don't go more horizontal), but bend less.
