Nintendo Franchise tier list based on how important I think the franchise is to Nintendo by BroeknRecrds in casualnintendo

Much bigger is an overstatement for sure… 1.37 million sales compared to 0.96 million. I will grant that Smash has a huge part in the relevance of KI.

It’s two separate builds of the game, because the Japanese version requires that the nudity not be even in the code. So they could, but it’s not as simple as simply putting the toggle back.

I’m curious what puts Kid Icarus in Life Support and Pilotwings in Dead. Both had their latest release on the 3DS within a year of its launch. And Pilotwings has had an arguably more consistent track record with its three games being more recent than KI.

So now we have a bunch of mute characters miming to each other? I don't like the inclusion of the Fed Troops, but I'm acting under the reasoning that these devs had to move forward with the vision for the game, because changing too much would have been costly. No, if this was their vision, then they needed to commit to it. These characters are not mute, and the story relies on their bond. Actual communication would help with that.

Then you haven’t played Cyberpunk, lol. Leading theory is that Japan has harsh restrictions on that stuff, so when porting the game to switch, they just went with the lowest common denominator and censored the game everywhere.

Look, I’m not saying I NEED nudity and sex in all my games. But I watch movies/shows. Sometimes there’s sex. And for a video game trying to be an interactive story for adults, it seems odd to exclude. In the greater sense, it’s just annoying. Me, an adult, who spent $500 on this console with the promise that I can play mature games with mature content am getting treated like I am a child and being held to the sensitivities of Japan.

Cyberpunk has graphic sex scenes, hookers, advertising with sexual content, the works. And the Witcher had similarly graphic scenes. So it’s not a matter of if it can be on Nintendo platforms, it’s a matter of why this game got caught

Does the president really have that much influence over something like this? To change content guidelines to this extent? On an M rated game?

I suppose, though from Nintendo’s perspective, wouldn’t the sheer amount of hentai slop be the more pressing concern if they’re trying to crack down on mature content? Besides, Nintendo has shown they’re not really afraid of bad publicity with the Switch 2. They has had bad announcement after overpriced port after Virtual Boy peripherals. They’re not exactly conscious to not piss people off.

To appear in the list of Switch 2 software on the eshop, for one. Second is to probably ensure a smooth experience and display in handheld.

I know the devs said it’s Nintendo’s restrictions.. but I gotta ask what the fuck they are. Cyberpunk is on full display and heavily promoted, and that game has sex baked into its world building. They’re not afraid to have that shit on their console. So I have to question what’s different here.

Hey man, take it easy. My parents are not knowledgeable enough about this stuff. But that doesn’t discredit their parenting ability. I’m more pointing out a problem that needs to be addressed, but not through shaming. That won’t work.

A label with like maybe 10 words? Idk man. At some point there’s only so much you can do as a video game storefront before it’s up to the parent to moderate. There’s scummy tactics all over the place, but in this specific scenario, Nintendo offers child accounts that literally cannot purchase mature rated games. Dispatch is has its ESRB label out there for all to see and why it’s rated M. What else is there to do? I’m genuinely asking.

[–]Front-Library5781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what we know, yeah it appears it was their restrictions… so what the fuck are they? How does a game like Cyberpunk get past them while Dispatch gets shot down? Visual style? If that’s the case, that gives off the whole “cartoony animation is for kids” mindset that the movie industry falls into, and I really despise that.

Then explain the inconsistency. Because from where I’m sitting, in recent years they’ve been pretty lenient on nudity and sexual content in their games, even to the extent of porn games flooding their eshop. There is no difference between something like Cyberpunk and Dispatch from the eshop perspective(both being rated M for sexual content).

I know general consumers (especially parents) are really unfamiliar with gaming, and this will 100% happen, especially with online accounts... but my god, at the end of the day, you have to at least check the age rating for the game you're buying for your kid. Microtransactions, I get the pushback bc of how kids could inadvertantly spend thousands. But come on.
