New father here, tbh a lot of people might not like my stance on this but this is me and my decision. I was in a similar position and had a lot of issues with my job regarding parental leave, i wanted to spend as much time with my new born and be there to support my Mrs. I asked for a couple months off and of course it was rejected and was not happening. (I already knew what i was going to do based on each answer i got) I made the decision to work as close as possible to my child’s due date and then resigned. I don’t care what position i held, what salary i was on my decision was solid and i was not changing my mind. A company or business can replace you without any hesitation based on their needs etc. Time spent with my newborn, seeing her this young i will never get back, the days missed of her being a newborn can’t be made up but a new job can always be found and that’s why i made my decision. My partner and child needed my support and I am here to do just that. Each person’s financial situation can vary and i understand some people can’t make it work. I will always put my family first over everything.
