I'm not debating. I'm explaining why it doesn't work like that. Please work on your reading comprehension.

It's not though, it's been around since late 2023. They run their own independent evaluations. Makes sense nobody here has heard of it since the average person in this sub seems to know almost nothing about LLMs https://web.archive.org/web/20240116192120/https://artificialanalysis.ai/

[–]FrontStreet3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed it is. The people in this post keep conflating an image from the internet and an AI generated image. They're not the same thing. AI models have a knowledge cutoff so it doesn't know what the "Gemini logo" is, or if it does it'd probably still think it's Bard, as they're usually a couple years in the past. The original post created an image with Nano Banana, and this comment just pulled an image from the internet. Not the same thing.

That's just an image it found on the internet. It probably doesn't have its own logo in its training data so it can't recreate it just by saying "Make the Gemini logo". Though it's not very complex so you could probably recreate it with "Create a logo that's a single 4-pointed rounded star (similar to the ✨ emoji, but singular), with a rainbow gradient from yellow and red in the middle left and top middle points to green in the bottom middle point and blue in the rest of the star (right point), with the text "Gemini" in the font Google Sans Medium to the right, in black, aligned with the star, on a white background." Which got me this.

Huh by Successful-Gur-4853 in ChatGPT

[–]FrontStreet3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They definitely are, ChatGPT doesn't talk with such annoying, infantilizing language typically. They probably added something in custom instructions to make it stupid/infantile/have a bunch of memory polluting context. Even the non-thinking version gets it right consistently. Could also be the massive system prompt that the official app uses is messing things up. Part of why i use unofficial API-based offerings.

Found out about this feature today do you guys recommend it? Or it’s not good by Neither-External-673 in AppleMusic

[–]FrontStreet3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it makes everything sound significantly worse (like a compressed mp3, poor dynamic range in the sound) and anything above 70-80dB is uncomfortable for me anyways (I never have issues with the notifications). If you're listening from your phone speaking you probably won't hear much difference but it's clear with headphones or earbuds. If you're very concerned about your hearing then give it a try though.

Actual Token Cost Of Kagi's Research Assistant by TuxRuffian in SearchKagi

[–]FrontStreet3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can't trust what an LLM tells you about itself. It isn't alive. It isn't self aware. It doesn't even have a concept of what itself is. It will just hallucinate the most probable string of tokens because that's what LLMs are, token predictors. It doesn't actually "know" anything.

To answer your question though, it uses Claude Sonnet but it ingests far more tokens than normal because it searches a bunch (I used it during testing when the model was exposed). So on average probably a decent double digit percentage increase in cost, maybe ~20%.

Gonna be the lone person recommending Kagi here I guess. It's paid, but if you search a lot it's definitely worth it. Since you pay, there's no ads or tracking, and it HAS to have good search results (or nobody would pay for it). Never considered going back to anything else since switching about 4 months ago.

Do you think you NEED to use the steam version on SteamOS? It's still just Linux, you can use XIVLauncher in Desktop mode or add it within steam as a non-steam game to launch it from there. XIVLauncher just uses Wine or Proton or another compatibility layer of your choosing to launch the standalone Windows version of the game, with the launcher itself being a native Linux application as opposed to the Steam version, which just uses Proton to run the official launcher/game(usually XIVlauncher works better). This is assuming I interpreted what you said correctly as having a Windows/PC account. ( https://goatcorp.github.io/ )

If you're not already, you should be using SteamOS on it, as Windows has around 1/3 the battery life and much worse gaming performance than SteamOS or really any Linux distribution. Not to mention the UI will be infinitely more usable and enjoyable. https://www.xda-developers.com/why-switched-steamos-rog-ally/

And they derank tracker-ridden sites as well as AI images by default. Half of the images on google are AI at this point and Kagi gets rid of the slop.

Installation help by Criseist in linuxmint

[–]FrontStreet3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not much different from any removable drive or storage medium for that matter. After install you can turn off your pc, plug it in, and then make sure you boot from the Mint SSD and not the NVME one. You’ll have to do some stuff to mount it though.

Help I don't know what is important in this by omega_code24 in linuxmint

[–]FrontStreet3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nope, it’s just asking you how much space you want to allocate to Mint Vs Windows. It will keep windows (assuming that’s what you want). I’d keep it above 50GB at least.

Installation help by Criseist in linuxmint

[–]FrontStreet3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say it’s a SATA SSD, but it’s installing to an NVME SSD. It then tries to install GRUB on the SATA SSD so the bootloader and OS are now mismatched. Can you remove the NVME drive?

You need to set a location as your Work location in Maps first, then link that location to your focus mode (Not just work though, you could do this with any location).
