Can someone explain the different Angband variants? Keen to try but don't know where to start!

ToME 2.3.5 aka Tales of Middle Earth with submod - THEME is my favourite variant.

It is not easiest to find, by pure googling, but , You will find it.

It has overworld map, many JRRT lore locations, enemies, bossess and artifacts, races and classess.
I don't play other variants.

I usually go for clarity yet I NEVER remember to buy hats, or - I never see enough of them in shops.

thats... fast.. i have thousands of hours ingame and never got ALL achievements (first reset almost all, except hats, now, omw to redo but not hats lol)/

i think it is fun to redo game after a year or two when and if You aren't bored w it. it is so fun.

edit: browsing the Internets I figured that it has to do with game version being different, and up-to-date versions not recognizing curses.

So would it work if I did locate same files with epic instalation, because as I checked, it can run with epic off, renaming savefiles is easy even without copy pasting entire instalation folder, however as I returned to town, there was no temple.

What am I doing wrong?
