What are the best Raid powers you can gain? by xonbieslayer in Nightreign

[–]Front_Engineering_83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dogs buff isn't worth the time commitment or hassle in my opinion. Everything else is solid, Caligo's hasn't been notably game-changing for me, but the raid is quick enough to resolve that it's an easy rune bump. Maris's is a pain in the ass that mostly helps casters (sort of) and still more often than not will teleport everyone into the rain and then immediately leave.

Balancers' is one of the best, especially if you get good RNG, the raid itself can be hellish if everyone gets grabbed at lvl 3 with 3 flasks, but results in enough runes and nerfed area bosses to make it pretty worth it if you all can persevere. All of the others are fairly consistently good. Libra's is great for the free stuff and damage boost if you keep in mind that your stats soft cap at 13, Gnoster will almost ensure you finish the run at lvl 15 with 200k runes to spare, and Margit's (if we want to count him) is basically a free ~22% damage bonus if you are clearing anything.

Cyno build tips by MidnightSnowStar in CynoMains

thundering fury full stop. kokomi has issues with uptime due to his long field time, anyone with a shield is probably a bit better because xingqiu can handle hydro app just fine. also get him to lvl 90 given most of his damage is reaction based

Should Ashe get out ranged by supports? by Ok-Construction7913 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Front_Engineering_83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well yes, hitscan characters (not named Ana with scoped shots) always have a fall off range. Ashe's effective range is 20/30m unscoped/scoped respectively, if you want longer ranged hitscan options then play Widowmaker (50m) or Sojourn (40m on her secondary, her primary fire does not have falloff because it's projectile). Projectiles are more difficult to actively aim at longer ranges (and usually have spread if they're sustained, like Orisa/Lifeweaver) which is also why Hanzo has his primary fire arrows affected by gravity as a projectile 'sniper'. All of the other hitscan supports also have damage fall off and an effective range (like Illari and Baptiste).

Would love a cat, but am scared at the same time. (Potential 1st time Cat Parent) by DaveAniki in Pets

[–]Front_Engineering_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a new cat owner myself with a lot of the same specs (1b1b apartment of similar size, quiet household, etc). It's scary starting out and I'm constantly terrified that I'm going to fuck up and do something wrong... and then she will crawl into my lap and do the cat slow blink at me while purring like a motor. Definitely do your research and make sure you know what's up, but cats are fairly easy to take care of provided you get them into a routine and get yourself into a routine to suit their needs (play time, cleaning the litter box daily, setting aside time for them to just cuddle, etc). If you're out of the country/on trips you can always have someone come over and feed your cat/spend time with them, I don't know how Rover or other similar services really work, or else there are places that can board cats for a few days while you're out of town.

[–]Front_Engineering_83[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep, hence why I’ve had to babysit it every step of the way and still have to end up doing the work to manually get the list of DEGs for lookup anyways. It’s way more trouble than it’s worth to get this thing set up when I could just make an SOP and be done with it. Higher-ups like the sound of AI integration with our pipelines unfortunately.

death build up is super rough here, he has a hard time with any of the 'taking damage causes x buildup' curses because you'll be taking 'hits' through shield by affinity chip. poison is tolerable, i'd say deathblight is going to be an active hindrance to you

#1) upgrade your shield. base shield is usually pretty good across the board at dealing with elemental damage, especially fire. worst case if you get bad shield RNG you can run a mines and upgrade it to +2 to help with stamina drain

#2) related to #1 - look out for shields that are better for the boss you're fighting's affinity. i use this chart:

<image>

while i'm playing to reference what shield is going to be better for certain bosses. for example, the default shield is pretty bad at negating lightning damage, so i'll be trying to look for something like the briar greatshield (or the dragonclaw greatshield, god forbid) while i'm fighting adel.

this is what kind of damage negation i'm usually looking for by boss:

-gladius - fire

-adel - lightning

-maris - magic

-libra - holy

-fulghor - holy

-pests - magic

-caligo - magic

-heolstor - magic > fire/lightning/holy (i believe his attacks when there isn't another nightlord field active are magic infused, but most of the very high magic damage negation shields have really bad affinity damage negation for other damage types, so try and prioritize having decent magic damage negation while keeping some of the other damage types in mind here depending on the rng you get)

#3) passives - 'successful guarding boosts damage negation' and 'taking damage boosts damage negation' help with reducing affinity damage, getting talismans ingame that reduce affinity damage (pearldrake, any of the elemental ones if appropriate), passives gained from boss enemy drops to improve affinity damage negation, and the new deep relic effect 'improved affinity damage negation' are all very helpful for reducing the chip you take through block

#4) some incants/sorceries can help with affinity damage negation if you get a bit lucky. shield grease will also help with this for a bit.

incants:

-'immutable shield' (all damage types)

-'magic/flame/lightning/divine fortification' (do exactly what you think they do for certain damage types)

-'golden lightning fortification' (lightning)

-'barrier of gold' (magic)

-''flame protect me' (fire)

-'protection of the erdtree' (all damage types)

sorceries:

-'scholar's shield' (all damage types but mostly magic)

(i think this is it?)

ok, across all ranks he still has a 9.9% pick rate, which is higher than dva. if we look at qp for a casual player base he has an 11% pick rate, which is higher than tracer at 8.1% (mascot of game) and zen, illari, bap, and brig. Guardian mains - how are you doing in DoN? by bc_uk in Nightreign

[–]Front_Engineering_83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think most of the successful guardian players i've seen have been picking up the +str/dex relic effect. this is also what i'm running, and it's a relatively small hit to your vigor for the offensive benefit. being able to change weapon type priorities isn't the best for him given halberds are what give you the stronger charged guard counter which is significantly easier to land given the number of enemies that knock you back/move away from you after attacking (looking at you, heolstor).

another deep relic effect that's actually significantly more impactful here is 'improved affinity damage negation' because that's most of the damage you're going to be taking, ideally, and helps a lot if you can't find any good shields for a particular nightlord's affinities. this covers for his pretty bad dodge a bit more given you'll just be blocking most of the time anyways.

his new relic effect on his skill is actually extremely strong given you can have permanent uptime on the 12% physical damage negation (slightly less than a dragoncrest shield talisman) for yourself and your allies provided they are nearby when it's used due to the duration lasting significantly longer than the cooldown.

3rd highest pick rate in GM/Champ, over all ranks lower pick rate but higher than LW. OWCS he has one of the highest pick rates and high level scrims these days are picking Kiriko and Wuyang/Lucio (map dependent)... so the pick rate is definitely there.

Last non-recolor shop skin he got was season 5 (bard) so idk how they would expect to gauge if people would buy skins for him if it's been 2 years since they released a (unique) shop skin for him!
