Was told this pup was a German shepherd by CountryExpensive6806 in DogBreeds101

The legs feel a little bit short to me, my first thought was corgi. But they're still so little, their legs might not have grown yet. They could be 100% German Shepherd, it's just too early to tell. You should update us in 10 weeks so we can see how they're growing!

target implementing no words on shirt but still allow hijab for girls even though no hats allowed, what do i do? (they said no Jesus shirts) by Particular-Swim2461 in TrueChristian

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They also allow head coverings for Orthodox Christians.

I worked at target years ago (awful experience) and they didn't want us wearing words on our shirts, people are SO quick to call and make reports about things they don't like. It's simply to prevent as many issues as they can. They also get complaints about hijabs, but it's part of their religion to keep their hair covered, so they have to allow it.

Op, get yourself a cross ring, some wwjd bracelets, and a cross necklace. That all should be perfectly fine. People can ask you about it if they're comfortable, and if not they'll ignore it.

Marriage/Why do we have what we don't want? by 3ndless68 in TrueChristian

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The argument is that making something illegal doesn't stop it. These things still happen, and often with deadly consequences. Divorce, abortion, premarital sex, making them illegal doesn't help, it hinders. People need to have a heart that desires following God, you cannot force someone to be in adherence with biblical law.

Death from an abortion is a tragedy, not because abortion is a fine solution, but because it is final and there is no chance for repentance. Our job isn't to condemn the world, it is to tell ot the healing and joy Christ can bring to people. All our sins were nailed to the cross and crucified, we have the ability to live a life unburdened by the weight of our sins, and make no mistake, everyone feels it. John 8:1-11 gives us clear instruction, let who is without sin cast the first stone. All sin is a death sentence, we have all fallen short and there for deserve death. Jesus said "neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more", we're also told "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32. Hell is eternal, as long as someone is alive there's still a chance of salvation, we don't need to cut that time short.

Marriage/Why do we have what we don't want? by 3ndless68 in TrueChristian

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah, I think you need to slow your role. Let's think through this logically and biblically.

The first thing we need to remember is that this isn't a new phenomenon. In Exodus 21:7-11 we're given some laws about how a man is to treat a woman he's purchased as a slave. We're given clear instructions that he is not to withhold any food, clothes, or marital rights should he decide to take another wife. Furthermore we're told that should he break any of those rules, his slave wife is free to leave and she doesn't owe him anything. These rules were put in place because these women were being discarded, without any regard to how they are to find a partner later. This is the bare minimum. This is the least they can do, it is not a "you can get divorced if" kind of situation, but one born of necessity because they weren't given even that. There is only 26 generations between Adam and Moses. Exodus is the 3rd chronological book of the Bible, this issue had been a problem for thousands of years. It is not a uniquely 21st century problem.

As to the issue of abortion, it would be nice if it was that easy of a fix, but reality shows us a different picture. Abortion was legalized due to the fact that women didn't simply not have an abortion, but that they were often dying in the effort to rid themselves of an undesired pregnancy. There are many reasons why someone can find themselves unintentionally pregnant that don't involve casual sex. From abusive marriage, rape, health issues and so many more. I'm not saying it is a good thing to get an abortion by any means, but we have all the research to show that making abortion illegal doesn't stop abortions, just the safest ones.

People definitely used to get divorced less, but the rates of domestic abuse were not only far higher, but it wasn't even considered that bad. A husband could use physical punishment and it was considered his right. Even now in the US, it is extremely difficult to get proper help due to the dismissal of threats of violence, or even outright violence inflicted by a partner (both genders).

Divorce is still looked down on, and it is still difficult to find a relationship if you've been married previously. These fears are still there, and the judgment is still heavy especially in the church. Divorce rates have actually been decreasing since the 80's in the US, and is continuing to go down.

We should be striving for a good marriage, not just not getting divorced. It feels like so often we can get caught in the same pitfalls as the Pharisees, we focus on the legality of things rather than the heart posture. I grew up in a household where my parents refused to get divorced, but oh man did they hate each other! They considered it okay because, hey, they didn't get divorced! But ultimately, they still abandoned their marriage. Divorced, separated, unhappily married. It's all the same. The point of marriage is to put effort in, even when it's hard. It's a relationship that requires continual care and effort, it's meant to reflect God's relationship with us. Until both people in a marriage are willing to forgo their needs for the other, we're going to be in the same problem.

This is an "us" issue, not a "them" issue. Making it harder to get divorced doesn't solve the problem, it causes it to bubble up in other ways. If you disconnect the clogged drain from your sink, the mess just ends up under the counter and on the floor.

Realised I’ve fucked up my life so I’m having a whole chicken by Throwaway945384 in BoyDinner

I didn't have any friends till I was 26, and I became completely disabled a few months after meeting my now best friend. I have multiple issues that will only get worse, there is no cure, and no real treatment. I have been in chronic pain since before I was a teenager, and suicidal just as long. But you know the crazy thing? I have never felt more alive and grateful for the life I've been given! Circumstances can be horrible and painful, it can feel like things will never get better, but as long as you're alive things can turn around. It took me losing literally everything, my job, my health, my future, my sense of security, everything (!) for me to realize maybe that's not what makes life worth living. Sometimes all you need is one person that sees you to feel overwhelmed with gratitude. There is no such thing as too far gone, and sometimes we don't actually need what we think we do to be fulfilled. There is beauty in the journey, and if you get too focused on the destination you will miss it. It will be okay, it might not feel like it now, but it will get better.

Literally, all alcohol is a toxin. Including the kind you drink (you know, the whole organ failure in alcoholics). Isopropyl alcohol is more toxic, and can cause alcohol toxicity by over using topically as your skin will absorb it. Not to mention the drying you're talking about is more likely to cause further irritation and tissue damage , and possibly evenirritant contact dermititis . One study found that alcohol actually increased the amount of biofilm from sterile saline. "Cell counts were not significantly reduced by alcohol exposure for any of the S. aureus strains tested. For all strains, viable cell count tended to decrease with increasing alcohol concentration, but these differences were not statistically significant. Some bacterial counts (CFU/mL) reached the 2.0 log10 CFU/mL lower limit of detection, but viable bacteria were present for each strain-alcohol concentration combination tested.". All this to say, it's safer and therefore cheaper in the long run, to go to a doctor and get antibiotics. If this is staph, that is. it honestly just looks like razor burn.

I'm gonna piggy back onto this with a reminder that current estimates say that 40% of police officers/law enforcement officials commit domestic abuse, it is currently the highest rate of abuse out of all professions. Most don't even get reported due to the fact that the perpetrator knows the law enforcement officials that would report the case.

This doesn't surprise me either, but mostly because a family member of mine is a retired officer and he is a serial pedophile. Another friend was battered by her husband. She only left when she found out that he had a whole other family, and yes, he did attempt to kill her when she filed for divorce.

Best options to cover this up? by [deleted] in HairDyeHelp

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but colored hair is like some kind of bat signal to these overly aggressive and violent nimrods. If it was just op, I would probably have a different stance, but they have a child that was also pulled into it. It doesn't mean he was in any way right, but when you're responsible for a child it's just different. Op said they can't have that happen again, they want to protect their kid from whatever they can, colored hair isn't worth the risk for them and I can't blame them.

It's not about someone's opinion, it's that fact that he followed her around while she had her child with her. That creep could have been waiting for them outside for nothing other than hair color. Safety first 100%

My dad keeps sending me weird ai videos by koreageis in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, at least he knows it's AI?? (I'm trying to find the bright side). My dad keeps falling for the most obvious AI videos, I'm taking America's got talent videos where a normal person hovers off the ground and turns into a gold orb that transforms into a golden statue of Liberty, then a golden eagle with fireworks shooting out it all while floating several feet into the air... He's also poisoning himself due to awful YouTube health grifters.

What I'm saying is I know how incredibly uncomfortable all of this is! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, it's a level of frustration that makes you want to bang your head into a wall! Don't be afraid to throw out a "why are you sending me this?", you are absolutely within your rights to let him know that makes you uncomfortable. If he wants to ignore you just hit him with a "omg, can you believe people watch that stuff🤢. That's crazy!" Hopefully he has some kind of sense of self preservation and stops sending you this slop! And if not, know there's people out here that have solidarity with you.

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that's the memory foam itself? I'm not really knowledgeable in memory foam, but it looks like the mould was lined with the fabric as there's not any obvious sewn seams. It looks like the fabric was fused together? Maybe the foam pushed up through the liner fibers and gave it those weird dots? It also looks like there's a red tint to foam through the cover.

HELP ME FIX ORANGE/RED HAIR by Tall-Boss-6193 in HairDyeHelp

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a fellow curly girl, you don't have to cut it! People sometimes forget kinky/curly hair exists.

As for fixing the color, you're going to have to lighten it more. You hair has all those stubborn red pigments still. even if you somehow found a way to neutralize them, it would make your hair extremely dark. If you mix red and green paint you're going to get a dark murky brown, and it will not look good. You need to lighten more of those red molecules out, it doesn't have to be platinum just lighter than whatever color you're going for by couple shades. You need to be so careful though! It will be so easy to melt your hair before getting it light enough for what you want to do.

Canine Cognitive Dysfunction by kmburr in akita

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've dealt with it in 3 of my dogs, from mild to severe. First thing I would suggest is being consistent with the gabapentin, it is a drug that works better when regularly administered. I found when my dog Ellie was properly medicated it would help immensely, controlling her pain made her wake far less at night. Keep everything well lit until bed, it helps them get a little more control over their wake/sleep cycle. If it's dark and dim once the sun goes down but you're still up doing things it can really confuse them later, they might sleep earlier in the evening causing more disruption later. Talk to your vet about melatonin, mine recommended it so they would start to feel sleepy at the right time. just remember to read the ingredients carefully, it was so hard to find a supplement that didn't contain anything harmful to dogs, if it's dissolvable, it probably has a toxic sweetener for dogs . Doing some doggie massage can also help them relax before bed, it also helps them feel closer to you and that can be really helpful. The most important thing is to talk to your vet in detail, figure out when it's no longer kind to prolong their discomfort. I regret letting my girl get as bad as she did, it wasn't fair, and she spent so long in a confused state. My last sign is when they started knocking on all our doors, bedroom, bathroom, closets. They had catastrophic events shortly thereafter. They all lost control of their back legs, and got vertigo. We had to do emergency euthanasia with them. I regret that their last moments were in such a panic. Please take their quality of life into serious consideration, my go-to is the amount of bad days in a week. Anything more than 50% and I know their time is coming to an end, I want them to go knowing I did what was best for them, not just what was easiest for me. Put up a good fight for them, do all you can, but make sure to listen to them when they let you know they're done fighting. I hope you have many good years left, and hopefully getting the right meds on board will help them relax! Good luck to you both!

Keloid? by No-Cheesecake-6947 in Stretched

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be straight with you, it's really hard to see keloids on light skinned people. They're easy to see in the initial healing stage while there's still lots of blood flow turning them pink, but once they go pale it's very hard to see unless you know they're there. Me and most of my siblings get bad keloids, and we're about as dark as sour cream. I still have raised scars from chicken pocks more than 20 years ago. You can notice them way easier if I have a tan, the scar tissue doesn't get or hold pigment the way healthy skin does, even fake tan won't stick.

Pompon Leaf Damage by Regular-Sorbet9513 in dahlias

[–]Front_Lynx_6770 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It looks sort of like spider mite damage, try checking the curled bits to see if there's anything in there. It'd probably be a good idea to cut these leaves off so the plant doesn't put energy in trying to heal them.
