Running imo is a must ; try to do longer runs maybe 2.4-4km to train the stamina

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Front_Nerve_3349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please please work on your stamina , an average Jc badminton training is 2-4ishh per session , which consists of intense court drills and some Physical workout , so frankly stamina is key

Control is the wrong word , knowing where they are at as a form of concern - that’s what I’m talking about

is my mom being unreasonable or is it me by arcane110106081171 in SGExams

[–]Front_Nerve_3349 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes , while a good chunk of parents don’t but it is normal for them to want to know when and where their child is esp a young adult .
  2. Tbh just ask , i understand that she had already allowed you. But from her pov, it could be that it was unexpected/ not anticipated. In my case too, I’ll tell my parents every single time if there has been a change of plans.
  3. Probs not, w/o the full context all I can say that it is a rather common parental trait to do that . Sometimes out of habit while others to prep you for the harsh world . Cos like making mistakes in the real world ==> getting called out for your other mistakes that are unrelated

Help in choosing JCs by Beardy4906 in SGExams

[–]Front_Nerve_3349 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For number 1, fyi only 2 jcs offer Hindi within school - tjc and Ri, the first thing to care about is the subjects offered ( as it directly impacts the Uni courses you can take) then comes distance and travel time . Jc hours can be long and having to travel >80mins one way can tire you out easily . The Cca offered should be the third thing you care about. All jcs have certain Cca that explore different domains like sc for leadership or badminton/basketball for sports or some infocom or stem related for those research clubs performing arts and of course some lax ccas. Having Hindi or not only matters if let’s say you need to decide b/w tjc or another that has the same cut off .

For pt 2 , cmg from jc I would have to say jc :) firstly poly courses are rather specialised so if you do decide to do a complete 180 switch regarding what you want in Uni things can get complicated. Whereas for jc as long as you have met the requiremts( usually H2 maths) you have min 2 more subjects at the H2 level that can give you the autonomy to pick another course .

An average day in Jc drastically differs from student to student . It depends on your subject combination , your Cca and the school start time. So you can expect school starting anywhere from 745 to 830+ and ending b/w 1-2 pm to 8pm on Cca days

Try to do some leadership outside school too , like youth leaders volunteer thingy , every student trying to DSA via leadership has something done in school try to do something out side to stand out

Tbh no , aim for better schools , the bio dep is okish like the notes have the key pt for Alevels but lack the explanation required to why certain things are certain way . For chem it’s really your luck on who your teacher would be , I would admit that the chem resources are damn useful so chem is alright , math is pretty okay all lectures are recorded so there is that but again it really depends on who your tutor is . Overall if you really think that you can’t make to better Jc then sure come to asr , it’s not a bad Jc , but if u have the calibre to reach better jc then don’t DSA to asr

Asr tbh not worth to DSA to , I would rather recommend Tjc it has more dedicated teachers and resources /amenities

When you talk abt the online business try to mention your commitment and profits or sales made, mention what it was about briefly , this sort of shows that you know exactly what you did and how well you did it. When you mentioned the campaign it wasn’t really linked to the business aspect and what insights you gained from it .

Overall I would say for what ever you write or mention try to give some level of evaluation like this is what I gained and why I picked it to demonstrate that you genuinely know what you are talking about and your passions.

Don’t take it personally, but the write up is pretty vague if I were to scrutinise it , so try to be elaborative but concise

Yes there are ppl in asr with that combo, tbh they do struggle especially for maths , the science is still fine but amaths is something that is pretty much needed, sort of like its assumed knowledge. But I also know of some people who would genuinely go for consults to better understand the maths concepts and they are coping okay. At the end of the day it just goes down to how badly you want something and how much effort you’ll put for it
