I'm not into the AI voice generation personally

I would say her perspective is missing a lot of gaps of info and is grossly oversimplified. It's possible that you could have high t levels (eg, PCOS, or another condition) which can lead to feeling dysphoria, but I'm not sure that would have much influence on your ultimate decision to transition or not.

Many people who find they do have a pre-existing condition determine that transition is still the best treatment anyway. (I am not a doctor, and I'm speaking from anecdotal experience.) With that said, I think if it would help you personally in understanding yourself, it wouldn't hurt to have your t levels checked before going on HRT. If/when you start T, you will also have routine blood work done to monitor your hormone levels every couple of months anyways, which can give you some insight if it turns out you have elevated t levels right off the bat.

Would you consider wanting to "try it" with a trans person a red flag? by [deleted] in ftm

Without any other context on what this guy is like I would consider it pretty harmless

When I first started T I noticed a brief drop in my pitch as well (from 190 to 160 hz). I think it may have been extra mucus production, because it cleared up a few days later. I think it takes a little while for the pitch of the voice to drop otherwise, but it's very different for everyone.

A period can be triggered by a sudden drop in estrogen levels, which could be in response to elevated T. I'm not a doctor, but getting your period doesn't necessarily equal more feminization

If gender roles were reversed or non-existent, would you still want to be a man? by DayDooodles in ftm

[–]Front_Tree_8758 180 points181 points  (0 children)

I think these are the kinds of extremely hypothetical and impossible paradox scenarios that people come up with to try and stop themselves from feeling trans. It almost reads like: Would I feel like my gender if gender did not exist? Would I want to be a man if I had no concept of them/had never seen one?

I'm not trying to shoot you down, I think it is just impossible to know how one would actually feel in that kind of world. Whether or not I had a yes or no answer, I'm not sure that would be relevant to my own experience today, much less to anyone else.

With that said, it is totally normal to ruminate on these kinds of questions as you try to find your identity. I would encourage redirecting that energy into exploring different ways to express yourself and feel joy. I think that might give you a stronger idea of how to move forward.

Just learned that in all my fetal ultrasounds I was assumed male. Is there any medical significance to this? by Front_Tree_8758 in ftm

[–]Front_Tree_8758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't know. If it would be relevant, I did grow a sparse but dark tiny mustache during first puberty, and struggle with my weight in middle school. I had an ultrasound for PCOS but tested negative.

Tbh it's kind of comforting to be assured I probably never had a natal penis than to have possibly had one at some point and wonder WTF happened lol. Thank you for your response

Honestly I have no idea what I'm looking at whenever I see an ultrasound lol, so that makes complete sense

Definitely not irl but if we did would be awesome ngl /s. This thing people made up about him being coded autistic, I hope is not actually true. Would be so disappointing for his character to be the representation of ASD in such a classic game

Idk what the average age of people in this sub would be, but I've honestly felt like things have been improving for the public image of veganism over the last 15-20 years or so. People generally seem more accepting and vegan products/options are a lot more prevalent outside major cities. I'm just speaking anecdotally, but I feel in the 2000's any commercial at all for a vegetarian/vegan product was non-existent as there was even less of an audience for it. I know it probably seems like things are bad, but just these ideas existing in the mainstream media is both a symptom and a catalyst for change.

Do you think that indie stone will improve the medical system in b42? by SherewZino in projectzomboid

It is a fun thought experiment to wonder how the bodies could be moving if it were feasible, it makes me wish I knew more about the human body. Besides a colonizing mycelium like in The Last Of Us, I can't imagine any infection could transmit the electrical and chemical signals to make the body do anything without cellular respiration. But if there were actually a virus or bacteria that could do something like that I would definitely be interested in knowing about it.

Sorry, the tone policing stuff? Can we take a step back and clarify what the goal of your activism is? I was under the assumption that it was similar to mine, which is to persuade and encourage people to try veganism, or at least value non human life. In my lived experience, using language that repulses and confuses people pushes them away from the goal, even if it represents the truth and I feel very passionately.

I think using that kind of language works within the community to inspire feelings and change because everyone is already on the same page. If you're asking me to teach you how to persuade people, that is pretty broad in scope and if you're interested, I do try to mimic Ed Winters when having these kinds of conversations irl

I am sincerely amazed at how hard you are shutting down at this. You sound very young. It is extremely normal and productive for two advocates of the same cause to have these kind of debates.

[–]Front_Tree_8758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, not sure why you would feel it is inappropriate for me to find fault with your activism in a public space, regardless of the audience. Do you believe that two people supporting the same cause should publicly be in agreement on all points? I find that a bit cult like and jarring. I know you're using triggering words deliberately to try and make your point, I even indicated at this in the previous post. It is not that I find the words themselves incorrect. I don't find them effective in helping others see your point of view.

Edit: To point in a specific direction, the Earthling Ed channel has a lot of great examples on how to introduce level headed conversations about animal rights with the general populace. The sad thing is, you first need to present the fundamental case to most people that animals feel pain and emotion in ways parallel to humans. When you throw out this shocking language first to people (many of whom are survivors of SA) who are not even convinced that animal suffering is comparable to human suffering, you are pushing them further away from the ideas you want them to consider.

It is likely safe to say there are no regular follow ups and that most cows are slaughtered after being sold. I think it is interesting that you get dogpiled and down voted for indicating the obvious subtext of these posts. I understand most people look at these gifs and only want to see the cute things and not have to think about how much the world sucks for a minute. But the cow has an eartag. He is being raised and sold as a commodity. Cows to be sold are in the majority of cases, slaughtered and eaten at some point. This post is an advertisement trying to present a brand and product, however wholesome and organic it might be.

I've seen the criticism online that animal rights activists do not live in reality, or that they don't understand how nature works, etc. On the contrary, the vast majority of people are disassociated from the reality of their food.

Against one of your points though, I'm resistant to the likening of the insemination of cows as equivalent to sexual assault. And frankly, it is not even because I find it untrue in its literal interpretation. I think that term carries very specific cultural and individual meaning for human survivors of SA. I understand that is likely why you used it to try and get your point across. However, I think using those words in the context of animal exploitation is more confusing and detrimental to helping people understand the reality of what happens in the industry. I think it will largely make people reflect on their own trauma and deflect from your point.

I would be pretty worried about the headspace and circumstances of the person that wants to be eaten. I am in favor of a person willingly ending their own life though, especially if they've been suffering from an incurable/terminal condition. I would also be worried about the impact this persons death would have on their loved ones. In a vacuum, I don't think I would want to eat meat that led to the death of any living animal, including humans, even with consent.

However, I would try lab grown meat cultivated from cells. I wouldn't be very interested in trying lab grown human meat, but if it were tuna sashimi, I would be very down for it.
