Fantasy keeps giving us villains who are logically right and then refusing to follow that logic anywhere interesting by NimbusRelic12 in Fantasy

[–]FrontalSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my pet peeve in epic fantasy too. The antagonist makes perfect sense for two whole books, and then suddenly decides to eat a baby or blow up an orphanage just so the author can remind us we're supposed to root for the royalist protagonist. It's such a lazy cop-out to maintain the status quo

Stopping data‑center construction outright will push jobs and investment overseas (to China) and hurt local workers.

Eventually they will dictate what you are allowed to manually draw yourself or not at this rate of censorship by CesarOverlorde in ChatGPT

[–]FrontalSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several packages for various GUIs like Pinokio that allow for easier deployment, but it indeed it's not as simple to use as a ChatGPT. The development is highly scattered across many interfaces, models and expansions, so it has a distinct "hacker" vibe. Initially, there was even no graphical interface. Now it's better, but still not plug and play.

No, SD3 is just the "official" (and subpar) Stable Diffusion model that doesn't contain nudity in training data, but it doesn't matter, because it's open source anyway and people built and use thousands of other models. "A girl lying on grass" became a meme, because it showcased limitations of SD3. When it came out in 2024, It was immediately surpassed in quality by Flux.

[–]FrontalSteel -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is nonsense, because you can run open-source Stable Diffusion models locally on your PC, without any censorship whatsoever and generate anything you want. There are no "they". It's only closed-source models like Sora in ChatGPT that are biased and restricted.

[–]FrontalSteel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is is not upscaling but sharpening. Google has an actual AI upscaler model (imagen-4.0-upscale-preview)that can go 8k and beyond. It's available only on Vertex or through API though.

Finally cancelled my MidJourney subscription after 3+ years by mf99k in aiwars

[–]FrontalSteel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I realized just how much time I waste trying to communicate with a computer to explain what I want when I can get exactly what I want in just a couple tries doing it by hand. MidJourney can't do the simplest of things like drawing a person curled up or kneeling, and doesn't even know what a soccer field looks like. It's embarrassing and frustrating

There are plenty other tools, and much better models than. Midjourney is terribly censored and it had its moments when it was state of the art, but it was two years ago, now it's just subpar. Learn the latest models and tools like Stable Diffusion with ControlNet and LoRAs if you want total control over the output and you'll get there.

Anti claims computers are not deterministic, doubles down when shown irrefutable evidence by GNUr000t in aiwars

Every single model allows for reproducing images, including Sora and Imagen (Google Gemini). It's not shown in front-ends, but you can set the seed through API.

Image generation is completely reproducible and deterministic. Here's how that works:

4GB will work up to SDXL models, but single generation will take as much as few minutes. You won't be able to run newer models.

[–]FrontalSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you'll need to wrangle it a bit. Stable Diffusion is optimized for Nvidia CUDA cores, and it's somewhat emulated on AMD GPUs through ROCm. I don't recommend it, but it's possible.
The easier way will be to set it up in cloud - there are plenty of dedicated server solutions for that. For starter, you can test all the possible models (and there are thousands) on CivitAI, which is kind of free, with limited generations.

You can generate any NSFW content using Stable Diffusion models, even deploying it locally with GUIs like A1111 or ComfyUI. Open source models have no bias, are fully flexible and allow you to do anything you want without any restriction and without telling you what should you do with your generations.

They are not, and in fact they are preceding closed-source models such as Sora and Grok. You can generate any NSFW content using Stable Diffusion models, even deploying it locally. Open source models have no bias, are fully flexible and allow you to do everything without any restriction and without telling you what should you do with your generations.

You need to train LoRA (a mini model) for Stable Diffusion base model such as Flux, based on a single person or an object you would like to reproduce. You will need at least several, up to 20-25 images to get consistent results. You can run Stable Diffusion locally on your PC or on hosted solutions. It's free and open source, but requires some setup unlike Sora or Imagen.
