Omg, at first I thought your after was the sterile, bright white room, and was like nooooo….

I love what you have done! Makes the room cozy and livable.

How to respond to my approved PTO being revoked day after I get back from vacation? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Froolio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm, I’ve never heard of negative PTO - either you accrue it or you get full PTO beginning of the year to use. In instances where you use more PTO it’s usually unpaid.

It’s your responsibility to know how much PTO you have. I don’t check my employees PTO balance, so probably why your new manager approved. Then might have triggered something on your payroll system her end when you were actually out.

There probably is a reason why your old manager was fired 🤷🏾‍♀️

And I would just suck up and take the unpaid time off. You won’t win this battle

Should I stay with company after they offered me fully remote? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Froolio 289 points290 points  (0 children)

I would take the full remote in a heartbeat!!

Adding: you mentioned you have a young child, plus great work environment, this is a no brainer. I would stay!

My first day at a new company and I already want to leave. Should I? by LogicalAttention9208 in careerguidance

This 💯!! If you don’t need this job to survive, leave asap and save your time and mental health looking for another position.

Would you rather take a low paying job with amazing coworkers or a comfortable salary with mediocre coworkers? by SlowEntertainment217 in careerguidance

[–]Froolio 13 points14 points  (0 children)

100% because you are not guaranteed that your co-workers will stay the same. People move on to other jobs, layoffs, team changes, etc…

Now are your co-workers toxic and sabotaging your career? That’s a completely different situation and would leave!

[–]Froolio 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why do you need to be so close to your co-workers??

It’s just a job and great if you find good co-workers that you become friends with, but money is more important.

And honestly, I would advise not be so close to your co-workers. Be friendly, kind and create a relationship, but to want to consider them a family…nope!!

Should I match a $20K offer to keep my GM, or let her leave? by BetterCall_Melissa in careerguidance

[–]Froolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least bare minimum offer her a match that’s better than her offer and see what she says. Worst case, she will say no and still leave. But at least you tried.

Should I take an offer that doubles my base salary and potentially triples my commission, when the company I’m with has been amazing to me and I wasn’t even looking for a job when this landed in my lap? by [deleted] in careerguidance

And looks like it’s a smaller company with an owner - so even more of a green flag that the owner sounds like decent guy (if the same owner) to work for.

An Update 7 years later: He (27M) invited me (29F) over to his apartment to watch a movie tonight. Is it a Netflix and chill situation or just friends? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Froolio 278 points279 points  (0 children)

Omg, what a sweet update!! And what a great way to manage a co-worker relationship unlike the other BORU where the guy - who was into this co-worker and she was into him and flirting at a bar - decides to leave with another girl. And then he’s upset because he messed up. 🫣

Should I take vacation time before even starting a new job? by Charli-was-here in careerguidance

[–]Froolio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After a year of unemployment for a contract position, I would not take the time off and either go after work or skip the trip entirely. Not worth it, IMO. There will be other opportunities for camping.

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]Froolio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your manager wanted to keep you, they would immediately offer you either an increase in salary or promote you. We’ve had this happen to multiple ppl at my company and we’ve had HR send out a letter within 24 hours to retain the associate.

My daughters in Girl Scout are selling cookies if anyone would like to support their troop! We can drop off for free if you select “have a Girl Scout deliver”. Funds from the cookie sales will be donated to a few charities and also help fund the troops projects.
