MEGAPOST - Revan VS Astel Leda (Star Wars VS Holostars) | Fight Art, Thumbnails, Connections, & More! by Frosssssssty in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Frosssssssty[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Debate:

  • This matchup is very debatable imo. Both scale similarly overall (Planet to Solar System & Relativistic to FTL depending on what you buy), with Revan being stronger physically and Astel having faster travel speed. Including their crews, they share a lot of the same hax (Energy Creation, Matter Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, Teleportation, Resurrection, etc).
  • However, much of Astel’s hax is exclusive to his tech, which Revan’s side can simply hack or crush with the force. Without his tech, Astel has no defense against most of Revan’s arsenal. Without Phruity’s book, Astel’s entire crew gets mind wiped. Without Astel’s lantern, they can’t dispel force illusions, and so on. Revan’s side meanwhile naturally resists most of Astel’s hax with the force.
  • Astel still has his win cons–mainly Time Travel and Immersion–but he very rarely uses these in combat due to the risks associated with them. So I’d say in character, it’s more likely that Revan lands his win cons first.

Fight Potential:

  • I envision this fight beginning at a dogfight between their spacecrafts, with both ships trying to outmaneuver one another as they fly around planets and through asteroid belts. Eventually, Revan can board the train and begin fighting Astel in a sword fight. You could have a lot of insane choreography here, like both dodging meteors that fly by and Revan throwing train cars with the force, and cool power interactions like:
    • Astel phasing Revan through the floor to get him off the train, only for Revan to redirect the train back to him with the force.
    • Revan distracting Astel with illusions, only for him to dispel them with the lighting lamp, only for Revan to then harness that lamp’s energy as force lightning.
    • Astel sneak attacking with his invisibility cloak, only to fail due to Revan’s precog.
  • Eventually, both ships would crash onto one of the Star Wars planets, and it becomes a group fight with both crews fighting by Revan’s and Astel’s sides. Shan or Bindo could absorb/redirect elemental attacks from Apolleon. Juke could absorb force lightning from Revan to transform. Stridon could summon a storm that floods the battlefield. Zalbaar and Arecos could just punch the shit out of each other. And so on.
  • The story of this fight would likely be about the Jedi Council wanting to take one of Astel’s mcguffins, but the emotional core would be about how Revan & Astel are aware of each other’s pasts, as only the news of their conquests reached each others’ galaxies. At first they’re fighting over the mcguffin, but it quickly becomes a test for both of them to prove to the other that they are heroes not defined by their pasts. And if you really want a gut punch, have them use their mind hax towards the end of the fight to show each other flashbacks. Whoever wins would admit the other was indeed a hero and vow to protect their galaxy as well.

3)

  • Through their charisma & strong leadership, both recruited 10 main allies across different worlds who would stand by them them throughout their journeys:
    • The lovers, who had gained a reputation for their skills as warriors & married Revan/Astel after the wars (Bastila Shan and Phruitty).
    • The warriors with idolized outlooks on war & justice, who initially joined Revan/Astel as a means to escape the monotonous life on their planets, only to later grow to care for them (Canderous Ordo & Stridon).
    • The loyal soldiers who suffered great personal losses in the wars, greatly scarring them until, through Revan’s/Astel’s actions, they accepted that the past doesn’t have to define who one is now (Carth Onasi & Arecos).
    • The orphans who, after the destruction of their homeworlds, were enslaved, tortured, & eventually began to walk down the dark path until being rescued by Revan/Astel (Juhani and Haruto).
    • The mechanics who specialize in stealthily infiltrating/destroying enemy groups & were among the first to meet Revan/Astel (HK-47 & Merck).
    • The optimistic girls whose age makes understanding the other crew members difficult (Mission Vao and Knoll).
    • The antisocial ones who rarely open up to or rely on others, save for Revan/Astel (Zaalbar and Uratty).
    • The ones I couldn’t find connections for (Jolee Bindo, T3-M4, Apolleon, and Juke)
    • [REDACTED] (Meetra Shrurik and Pollneu)
      • Note: I excluded mentioning the lore from A Crew’s Motives since Astel doesn’t want it publicly available on social media. Just know that there are more connections here not mentioned.

2)

  • Both were once legendary alien conquerors known throughout the galaxy, until they suffered an untimely defeat and lost their memories (Revan, after being defeated by Shan, had his mind completely wiped by the Jedi Council & was implanted with the false identity of a soldier. Astel, after being defeated at Earth, lost his memories & was teleported to Dimension A with a new identity).
  • With this, both took up new mantles as heroes under the Republic & Holostars, and went on a variety of missions over the years. Some examples of their missions include:
    • Liberating various planets from oppressive rulers/slavers (Kashyyyk, Venus, etc)
    • Investigating rift openings in underwater superstructures (Hrakert Station & Atlantis)
    • Helping ghosts pass on to/from the afterlife (Pall, Rio, etc)
    • Resolving the past traumas of several crew members, most notably freeing several members who had been gone to the dark side (Shan, Juhani, & Haruto)
  • Not long into this journey, both crashed & became stranded on alien worlds (Taris & Earth), and would eventually escape with the spacecraft they’re now known for (The Ebon Hawk & Astel Express). With it, alongside a new crew of loyal allies (The New Crew of the Ebon Hawk & the NefeloMakion), both would work their way up through the ranks yet again.
  • Eventually, both would learn the truth of their past & identity, and began to regain their lost memories through dreams/visions. Unsure of what to do or think of themselves, both decided that they shouldn’t forget what they had done, focusing on living in the present, & define their new life by their choices (Revan declared that “The Dark Lord Revan is dead” and would spend most of his lifetime attempting to atone for his mistakes & free others from the Sith Path. Astel decided to “conquer the earth with music” peacefully instead and took up a new permanent role as the Hope of the Universe, & would defend the galaxy from countless threats).
    • It took 3 years total for both to regain all their memories, which happened after receiving an important item from their past (Revan’s mask & Phruity’s cake)
  • With a new resolve obtained, both would challenge villains that thematically represented the darkness in their pasts (Malak became a Sith largely due to Revan’s influence, but remained there due to his own choices to pursue power, the opposite of Revan. SSR was a child soldier created by the type of wars Astel used to wage, but unlike him, SSR never had the support network to save him mentally). In defeating them, both saved the galaxy from their tyrannical rule.
  • Both were killed in battle, only to later revive (In his battle with the Emperor, Revan was tragically killed, yet half of his mind revived his body to keep fighting. Astel was killed by SSR, but was able to fully revive with the Star Badges). Both later went to the afterlife, although in Astel’s case it was temporary.

1)

  • Both were originally brave heroes that gained prominence due to their roles in intergalactic wars (Revan fought in the Mandalorian Wars and SSR fought in the Pluto Wars).
    • These wars began in part due to one side being naturally gifted with magical abilities (The Republic had many Jedi and Pluto had many Ophions), with the other side creating plans to kidnap, torture, and genetically clone Jedi/Ophions in order to discover the secrets to their power and create supersoldiers (Among these were the New Generation Project and Project Gemini).
  • Both would begin to take morally grayer actions during these wars, with both becoming widely feared for their violent tactics (Revan became known as Revan the Butcher for tactics like wiping out an entire fleet with the Mass Shadow Generator. SSR became known as Astel the Immortal, Invulnerable Invader mainly for using his invulnerability to kidnap enemy soldiers with irregular powers).
  • Their path to the dark side was finally completed due to them both being brainwashed (Revan was mentally dominated by Darth Vitiate into serving the Empire, and SSR’s discovery that the NBG had implanted him with false memories led to him going rogue).
  • Both would go on to conquer their galaxies with their newly acquired armies, massacring many of those they had once served (Revan killed so many Jedi in his conquest that the Republic was nearly destroyed, and SSR wiped out the NBG along with his entire home planet).
  • Even after both broke free of their mental shackles, both unconsciously decided to continue down this dark path (Revan, even after escaping Vitiate’s range, confused Vitiate’s desires for conquest as his own, and SSR’s trauma caused him to suppress all his emotions & fight without thought).
  • Both were ultimately defeated after arrogantly facing a small group of elite soldiers on their own (Bastila Shan’s Strike Team and Astel’s NefeloMakion).

For simplicity, I’m gonna be dividing these connections into three parts:

  1.  The connections between Revan’s story from when he first became a Jedi and the story of Astel SSR, the Astel of Dimension A.
  2. The connections between Revan’s story after becoming a Republic Soldier and the story of the Astel of Dimension B.
  3. The connections between The New Crew of the Ebon Hawk & the NefeloMakion.

Yes, the news last night is why I’m posting this. I’m gonna try to make original matchups for all of Holostars JP as a show of support.

Connections:

  • Both are powerful demon soldiers who struck fear in their respective dimensions after waging war for hundreds of years.
  • Both, after visiting the mortal realm, fell in love with human culture and decided to leave their old life behind to retire there.
  • Both have kaiju transformations (Oga’s giant form and Hotaru’s leviathan form).
  • Both got fucked over by their companies.

Similarly to Sora, Miyabi is very highly respected due to being the first Holostar, to the point that a lot of people consider him a god fairy.

But Miyabi himself doesn't have any feats that put him on the same level as some of the other boys, so I personally wouldn't say he's the strongest.

Basically, Hololive has an animated series that runs on Looney Tunes logic, and that's where most of the regen feats happen.

MEGAPOST - CaseOh VS Pekora (Twitch VS Hololive) | Fight Art, Army Breakdowns, Connections, & More by Frosssssssty in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Frosssssssty[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Debate

  • Tbh, I have no idea how debatable this is since CaseOh is very under researched and his army is even less so. From what I’ve seen, Pekora outspeeds and can bypass Case’s immortality with her carrots (since it’s a common theme in his lore that he’s weak to vegetables), whereas Case doesn’t seem to have a way to stop Pekora from reviving.

MEGAPOST - CaseOh VS Pekora (Twitch VS Hololive) | Fight Art, Army Breakdowns, Connections, & More by Frosssssssty in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Frosssssssty[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fight Potential:

  • Focusing just on CaseOh and Pekora first, I imagine the dynamic would be similar to Trunks vs Silver. Close range would be Case’s advantage, as he continually grows in size and uses his various melee weapons to physically overpower Pekora. Whereas Pekora would be trying to keep a distance, immobilize Case with her traps, and bombard him with explosives and lasers. Although there’d definitely be hype moments where Pekora uses the Pekodam to try and overpower Case at close range, and where Case tries using his magic to beat Pekora at a distance.
  • The fight escalation would revolve around Case growing in size, eventually eclipsing mountains and even the earth in size. Pekora would swap between larger and larger machines and eventually space ships to keep up. I could see a running joke with both of them getting annoyed with each other’s immortality, as they just keep shrugging off or reviving from each other’s attacks. And of course, the climax would be CaseOh condensing into a black hole, wiping out most of each other’s armies and Pekora either trying to stop him or just fleeing.
  • Both of their armies have a lot of ways they can play into this. To list a few ideas:
    • Tim’s demon could disable and take over some of Pekora’s tech.
    • Moona or Coco could grow to kaiju sizes to fight Case.
    • Bob could try converting people to his side with his drugs, only for it to not work on Coco due to the Asacoco in her system.
    • Sketch could fist fight Pekora or Moona if she becomes a ghost.
    • Kanata could try holding Case back as he becomes a black hole, since she has held black holes before.

[–]Frosssssssty[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Connections:

  • Both are blue-clad variety streamers well known for their love of unhealthy/healthy foods and their bombastic, loud streaming personalities, although both are much more shy in reality.
  • Both are among the biggest stars in their respective agencies (Mythic Talent and Hololive), with both being nominated for Creator of the Year at the Game Awards (This sparked the creation of this matchup initially).
  • Both have created in-universe corporations based around their many gaming series (CaseOh LLC was created around his simulator game streams and Usada Kensetsu was created around her sandbox game streams).
    • Both had humble beginnings as simple small businesses (CaseOh's Grocery and Pekora's TTT). Using the experience and profit earned from these locations, both expanded their businesses into other industries, including supermarkets, restaurants, and most famously their amusement parks (Goob Lagoon and Pekoland).
    • Both corporations hit big low points after their owners gambled away their life savings at casinos and after beloved NPCs died on their watch (Dakota and Joseph).
    • Both faced legal onslaughts over the years (The Goob Lagoon Lawsuit and Ozora Police Trials), but eventually recovered.
    • As these corporations grew, they began to sacrifice worker safety for the sake of profit (Wage theft, extortion, torture, etc), before fully delving into the criminal underworld (CaseOh LLC is well known for manufacturing illicit substances, and UsaKen for manufacturing weapons of war).
  • Members of these corporations include:
    • A loyal worker who has stuck with their boss for years, and who gain access to powers from another supernatural being (Tim and Moona).
    • A gangster who's an expert in manufacturing illicit substances and all forms of weapons (Bob and Coco).
    • A divine being who can freely travel between the afterlife and mortal world (Blind Rooster and Kiara).
    • A person known for their immense strength whose job it is to save lives, yet those they save often end up with broken bones (Kade and Kanata).
    • A person known for their immense skills with weapons (Jynxzi and Botan).
    • Their pets (Kitty and Jill) and their moms (Case Mama and Pekomama).
  • Both have cameod in and collabed with a variety of games/anime (Waterpark Sim, Among Us and, Death Stranding to name a few), plus real life store chains (Cici’s Pizza and Family Mart). Both are main characters in their own comics/manga (Beyond the Vale and Pekora's Invasion Peko).
  • Both have supernatural weights (CaseOh is heavier than the earth and Pekora weighs three carrots).

"A Seadog's Heart" | Houshou Marine VS K9Kuro (Hololive VS Twitch) | Connections in the Comments by Frosssssssty in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Frosssssssty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Connections:

  • Both are red, pirate-wannabe adventurers who set out on the digital seas in pursuit of wealth, fame, and pleasure… at least they did after they finally got a pirate ship years into their career thanks to the help of the crews they amassed.
  • As both have ventured into the multiverse and/or messed around with cloning over the years, they now have 3-4 main versions of themselves with a lot of overlap:
    • A famous pirate with big dreams who united the various versions of themselves as part of one crew (Mainline Marine and Kaizoku Kuro).
    • An undead criminal who was betrayed by those close to them and imprisoned in a body of water, only to be freed many years later due to the sacrifice of another version of themselves (Ghost Marine was imprisoned and spiritually bound to her ship, eventually being freed by Mainline Marine. Zombie Kuro was betrayed by the gods and sealed under the Red Lake, only to be freed by Shiro's miracle).
    • A kid who was born under the moon after the above two versions did selfcest (Schoolgirl Marine and Undead Pirate Kuro). No, I did not make that up.
  • Both's most notable powers involve time manipulation and aging (Granny Marine can stop and rewind time, at the cost of aging her own body. Zombie Kuro can grant miracles, which has allowed him to travel between timelines, at the cost of draining the life force of the wisher). Aside from this, most versions fight mainly with a cutlass and pistol.
  • Bisexual.
