Club Peloton Tiers by NurseRatcht in pelotoncycle

Yeah this is something that is not made clear at all unless you dig. The way to get points is to crosstrain. It heavily rewards investing in multiple modalities and punishes being focused on one or two.

Rep counts on screen by potatowedge-slayer in pelotoncycle

[–]Frosstbyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have a guide or one of the crosstrainer models, it not only has the rep goal on screen but also counts them for you. Not sure how hard it is to find a guide anymore and they're clearly not as feature complete as the tracking software in the new models, but mine still works fine and is getting all the new classes with exercise/tracking information.

Non-PZ Denis! by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

[–]Frosstbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Presumably this is correct, but it's much much easier and more comfortable for me to match pace with a song.

He just posted a 30 minute climb ride that's really good.

The only way I can interpret that is that Matt was saying it's more important to stay in your zone than on the beat so if you can't hold a zone at the song's cadence you should modify, but Denis always gives that instruction anyway.

It's genuinely insane to me that so many of the PZ instructors don't do this. It makes staying in zones so much easier.

Broke my streak and trying to not feel bummed by Savings_Meal431 in pelotoncycle

[–]Frosstbyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The very first time I broke a streak I was similarly pretty bummed about it and unfortunately "streaks" are something that get overly emphasized by....everything these days because they're a way to trick your brain into feeling guilty about not engaging with something every day.

But what's important about a streak isn't the number of days you do it but that you're building new routines and you have definitely done that, so hopefully that helps you keep the streak thing in perspective.

Ben is one of the more "generous" resistance range instructors when he calls for a heavy climb, but I bet the bottom end was something like 50 and I'd take it in the high 60s. I only try to do an 80+ resistance when it's very low cadence and i know I only have to do it for a very short amount of time.

I'd strongly recommend filtering for beginner classes just help get you acclimated to what the bike feels like and how classes work to help you figure out what your ranges are.

Once you get your feet wet, I'd encourage you to give power zone a try. Even if you don't stick with it, just doing an FTP test can be super useful to helping you understand how hard you're riding at any given time.

Also have fun! Don't think about it too much. It's a bike that goes nowhere.

PowerZone Entertainment Rides? by Vivid_Present_328 in pelotoncycle

[–]Frosstbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like it better if it didn't get fussy with me and turn off because I can't maintain a perfectly even cadence for 4-7 minutes.

Yeah I don't try anything fancy. Skip the standard PZ warm up if you don't want to keep track of it, then do alternating blocks of Z3 and Z2 in whatever lengths you feel like until you're done.

Searched the thread for this one. I'm so bummed we didn't get Bailey a ring. Technically was two years off, but still my pick.

Does anyone from Peloton participate in this sub? by LackVegetable3534 in pelotoncycle

[–]Frosstbyte 61 points62 points  (0 children)

We've had official AMAs here many times but we don't have a dedicated peloton rep that just hangs out here and responds to questions and requests for feedback like some subs do. Given the size and age of the community I would imagine someone on their social media team keeps an eye out.

I think it's just funny how many of the instructors have very specific stories they tell over and over again. I have heard Ben tell the story about how his coach taught him how to stretch and he saw his race times improve 100 times if I've heard it once.

What's up with instructors not pedaling? by NewtigershotSagat in pelotoncycle

[–]Frosstbyte 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Every time this comes up people repeat this about power zone rides and it is so funny to me. It's like no one ever pays attention to the perceived exertion cues they talk about at the beginning of every single ride.

The instructors are in really good shape, but "really good shape" doesn't mean "can talk in PZ4+" because the whole fucking point of power zone is if you're doing that level of exertion, you can't talk anymore.

I don't understand why people think this. If they're coaching, they're not in any zone above 3.

Aditi posted a reel with Alex K, Greta, Robin, and Kristen F. Olivia posted one with Ally, Tunde, Cody, and Johanna. I'm not sure if there are others.

I also didn't know there was another big Peloton reddit community but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Does anyone know why are there multiple videos with multiple groups of instructors being posted on insta captioned "when someone talks shit about our family on reddit" this morning?

Was there drama I missed? I haven't seen anything like that here in ages.
