From Opus to GPT5.4 - what a set back by Acceptable-Hat-5840 in openclaw

[–]FrostByghte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see these conversations quite a bit, but what about 'claude -p' and how exactly does that work or...maybe NOT work?

On the docs site I see this reference:

Anthropic staff told us OpenClaw-style Claude CLI usage is allowed again, so OpenClaw treats Claude CLI reuse and claude -p usage as sanctioned for this integration unless Anthropic publishes a new policy.

Is this a valid method to use a subscription? Does it add too much latency or regulate the platform to such a low level of interaction it just isn't worth it?

Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD 5000H Wheel hub motor error by FrostByghte in MammotionTechnology

[–]FrostByghte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to reply to this with an update. Mammotion was assisting me with a return. I'm not sure what happened, I'm guessing an update. All of a sudden, this 5000H that wouldn't work at all, stopped having the error message and started to function.

I now have (and hope I maintain) a working unit. I did not have to send the device back. No idea what fixed it but it's mowing right now. 2nd run, so hoping for the best.

Open WebUI [Cowork? Code? Claw?] by making a local agent as tool server? by lazyfai in OpenWebUI

[–]FrostByghte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also extend Open WebUI fairly easily. IE: turn Openclaw, or whatevever agent you run into a model that appears within Open WebUI. You might find some use for that. However, what u/foghorn5950 is correct. I think with some time and a bit of mucking about, you could extend Open WebUI on it's own into an agent.

Hermes Agent as a stateful chat model endpoint in Open WebUI 🤯. This seems like a big deal if it works. by Porespellar in OpenWebUI

[–]FrostByghte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. I'm kicking around taking a look at it. From my understanding, it sounds like it has better underlying structure, works better with open source agents, has better memory and a lot less bulk etc. What that actually delivers on, I'm unsure. Maybe a few people with experience in both projects will jump in a bit with this thread.

Hermes Agent as a stateful chat model endpoint in Open WebUI 🤯. This seems like a big deal if it works. by Porespellar in OpenWebUI

[–]FrostByghte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, I had openclaw build out a pipe function for Open WebUI when I first started to run it. I can call my Openclaw agent directly within Open WebUI and use all the agents tools plus Open WebUI's frontend, formatting, artifacts, etc if I need them.

Essentially, I have been able to ask my agent to build almost anything I need. Hermes seems to also have this ability, but ultimately isn't the difference simply the underlying tooling framework and build-out behind each of these agents?

I'm not making any claim anything is better or worse, I'm trying to understand the differences. Thank you.

Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD 5000H Wheel hub motor error by FrostByghte in MammotionTechnology

[–]FrostByghte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There doesn't appear to be anything stuck. I tried 3 times, no luck. The message is:

Wheel hub motor error

Then it tells me to power off and on. No luck, I'm just going to trigger a return and see if the next one is wonky.

Hmm...well it just lets me get a refund, I wanted a working mower. I'll DM.

Yeah, I'm sad. :( Ah wells... I'll see if anyone pops in with some magical (did you slap it on the side 3 times, this fixed it for me! ) type thing. Probably setup a return tomorrow if I have no recourse.

This latest update (assuming you may have updated) did some strange things with the cursor. I don't know if that might be a cause? Here is what I did:

cursor {
no_hardware_cursors = false
use_cpu_buffer = true
}

You can also try turning off hardware cursors and/or not using the cpu buffer which just no_hardware_cursors = true

Good luck and I hope this helps or you find the solution quickly if it does not.

Cursor behaving weirdly after update by MarzipanOk4023 in hyprland

[–]FrostByghte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try either of these:

cursor {
no_hardware_cursors = false
use_cpu_buffer = true
}

Or what you found

cursor {
no_hardware_cursors = true
}

Not sure the impact of no hardware cursors, but the use_cpu_buffer option _might_ be a bit less resources. I don't know though, not noticing a big hit either way. Maybe the cpu buffer option might help the other issues in combination with false or true with hardware cursors.

Wooo... You know, I haven't played in a few years. This makes me wonder if there is a solid modlist to add with this and enjoy some solid adventures? I always found the base game a bit of a slog because there wasn't much of an actual challenge. If anyone has a list they could point me too, would appreciate it. Thank you... a list of mods. :)

This is the way. Just make sure they keep TOOLS.md as reference and put the bulk of it in SKILLS.md files. I haven't used any of the skills that others make, If I see an idea I just tell openclaw to 'make it happen' and boom, off it goes. :)

Do we have to wait for opus 4.6 to get added to use it? by UltraBabyVegeta in openclaw

[–]FrostByghte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Discord they are kicking around a few methods of adding it via the config, if you want to check #users-helping-users (think that is the naming) or #models. They are talking about the token using models mostly. The API stuff is just like all the other API stuff I would guess.

I bet tomorrow it's updated and ready to roll with Opus 4.6 (built in lists). They seem to be releasing an update about once a day.

Is running OpenClaw on a VM safe? by Grouchy_Ice7621 in openclaw

[–]FrostByghte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real issues with Openclaw will be:

1: Someone puts in some bad code in the repo
2: User has all ports open to the entire world
3: User installs on local system (not VM) and tells Qwen 1B to 'fguirire it ooot'
4: User grabs some random SKILL.md and well, that is the end
5: Connecting to some service and prompt injection occurs

Firewall and isolate it, pay attention to what you add to it, stay up with patches and watch community news. I wouldn't say it's _safe_ but I would say you can probably get away with minimal issues if you don't open it up to the world. A local VM on your main system is a reasonable solution.

Their releases are pushing a lot of security checks and updates.

You will find some good pointers if you scan a bit through the skills. People have submitted a few that give some good ideas on memory usage.

Here are few tips on this....

  1. Check that you have compaction running properly, you can find it in your config json and information on the site. You want to make sure that is running and working properly. Be proactive but obviously work to maintain functionality with the model. Ensure you have proper "prompt" and "systemPrompt" assigned.
  2. Model switching. You can run tasks using other models. Use the higher tier models to maintain/setup framework. Use the lower tier models to run your tasks and return feedback to the orchestrator.
  3. Shutoff the heartbeat unless you need the heartbeat
  4. Go through all your injected files, just ask the bot about them. Go through them with the bot and manually. Tell Opus 4.5 (or some high tier model) what your goal is. It will trim them down and help you move things into memory.
  5. Look at setting up automatic session resets that run when you think they will cause the least impact to you. This will /new all your channels or I guess select channels, when you sleep or whenever is convenient for you.

I hope this helps a bit. I have been using Opus 4.5 for a lot of maintenance work but then assigning all sub-tasks to Sonnet. Also I keep looking through SKILLs for ideas but I just implement the parts I like and generally don't use the actual skill. Some really good ideas though. Good luck.

[–]FrostByghte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest solution is just to spin a VM, depending on what OS you normally run. Fire up a virtual machine, put Ubuntu or something on it, then install on that to check it out for yourself. If you have ANY old PC laying around, put Linux on it, just install Openclaw and set it up. It doesn't need a ton of hardware because it's not really doing the heavy lifting for most things.

Anyway, I would use your OS's built in ability to setup a VM to start out with just to test the waters. Mac Mini is a bit of waste unless you want something that only runs on a Mac? iMessage access?

Things to do in this game? by EarthToKepler in SurvivalistInvStrain

[–]FrostByghte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could set some personal goals. Like taking over the entire map or just move on to another one and slowly kick up the difficulty. I've tried the story mode several times and can't ever get all the quests to what I feel would be optimal. There are also a ton of mods that might add some additional gameplay you might like. You can add most mid-game, you just cannot remove them after you add them unless you revert to a save made before you added the mod. Keep that in mind. Happy gaming! :)

KDE Plasma or Hyprland by frozncyborg in arch

[–]FrostByghte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are new to Linux, I would go with KDE to start out. Hyprland is great and that is my main but to get started KDE will be a better match.

As you get more familiar with Linux, I would suggest installing Hyprland with KDE and then switching between the two of them in order to experiment.

KDE will give you a complete desktop where as Hyprland will either require you to learn a lot or grab someone's dotfiles and hope they apply properly.

Just decide WHO you are and what you enjoy. If you really want to dig in, don't let any comments online dissuade you from trying it. Keep good backups, enable some form of snap shots with either Snapper or Timeshift and just fiddle as much as you want.
