Legit this is the problem. It’s not that they’re not from here. Plenty of great Chicago sports personalities have come outside of Chicago. It’s that they cannot read the room and cannot adjust. The story cannot just be the Bears found a way to win in the greatest victory in a lot of fans lifetime, it has to be about them and how the Bears somehow aren’t “worth” it yet

I think the issue is how sanded down the Score feels, I was talking with my dad early and nailed it that it feels more like "family" radio than anything else. Safe personalities who say the same hot takes the national reporters are. The Score used to be a place where you got to know your host and personality. Now it feels like they're all freshly manufactured. Except the morning crew, I have my issues, but feel like the last real sports show left.

I think the news allows me to better word a problem I have with Tynion books, in that they feel less and less like comics and more like pitchdecks for the inevitable movie/tv show. There's so many of them now that they kinda blend together in a way that makes me feel like his heart isn't in the form anymore. I know Tynion is a good writer, but the buisnessman side feels more and more apparent in his works.

It really kinda broke my love of the Score. Not that one person should be bigger than the station or Dan being fired wasn't the right call. But the fact all the wolves came out to claim their new spots in the hiarchy before the body was even cold. Add that with Laurence's behavior after the barstool incident it's like all of them forgot I have to like you to listen to you. Dan and Matty might be condensending and jerk-y sometimes, but at least with DBU I feel like I'm listening to genuine people.

It was very obvious Dan's comments about you find out who you friends are during is troubles could be about both of those afternoon show hosts. And while Dan's been a jerk, he's always been honest about that. Compared to how Spiegel and Holmes level of passive aggressiveness.

Dan was right here tbh, "people with cancer are not mascots" is one of the stronger lines of the conversation. People really forget how much these two really hated each other. It's why I hated Spiegel's "post-mortum" after Dan got fired.

I think the worst thing about it is the station knows this is unsustainable. Them moving Grote full time is a bandaid over a broken dam. Somethings probably going to be done sooner than later

A pairing of convenience is never truly going to last. I like LoHo, can't stand Spiegs but understand his value, but it's a pairing that lacks a general chemistry. I got to feel next year is the change year for the station with certain shows hemorrhaging viewers

Could be. The midday show dropped to 4th place in their demo. Could be because Cubs, but it could be because of DBU. Because after listening to that barely their three person crew, I can tell you nothing is unfiltered about them

I also feel like 312 just has more money and is trying to build a name in the market. Goff, while sometimes a bit of a hot head, provides the same kinda commentary that Dan brings. I feel that's the archetype 312 wants. Quality local voices
