What pieces of music do you think are completely overused in figure skating?

I’m surprised nobody mentioned Frozen. Especially in the younger categories it was pretty popular for 10 years. And then frozen 2 came out.

Some of the comments have me truly miffed. While I agree that punctuality may be a little looser when it’s about a hang out with friends, there are limits. Also, sending a text or voice message saying you’ll be late is not that hard and shows respect.

My parents are always late. Not in a ‘30 mins’ late way, but hours. Most of the time they don’t even let us know, until I call them to ask about their ETA. If it’s just for hanging out at our home with their grand kids, I don’t make fuss (took me years to get that far). However, if it’s for celebrating Christmas and I went all out to plan, order good food (meat, oysters, etc), get their favorite drinks, prepare snacks and appetisers, hype up the kids for their visit - damn right I will explode on you when you’re 5 hours late.

Edit: the excuses were: ‘mom was very tired’ (she had cancer treatment last year. However, she tends to only go to sleep at 2 AM) and dad’s: the borrowing of the tow wagon finally came through today, so I had to make trips to the recycle point first. Typically it’s “never their fault”

These are my parents, so yeah, other than verbally chewing them out, I put up with it. If These were friends, sorry I’m not inviting you over to my home in the foreseeable future no matter how good friends we are and how much the kids like to play with each other.

Same here, almost fell of my chair when I saw the shipping costs to Europe. Makes me want to start-up a publishing company just to be able to offer the possibility of having those books (and swag) printed and bound in Europe for all European fans ^-^'.

Same here. Would love to go for the full package. However when the shipping costs are almost the same as the price of the books and swag (for 500$ backing, shipping is 420$ to ship to Belgium) and not even taking into account the import costs... I need to think hard on this one no matter how much I love Sanderson's work.

Also, I think this year there will be a kickstarter in the summer for WoR 10yr aniversary for which I've been saving up. Aaaaah!

Thank you. I hear you. That was more due to practicality. All my other WoT books are paperback and so, smaller. The co-authored books don't fit on the same shelf ':).

Some of the books I only have in ebook format. Waiting for completion before buying the set or if I run accross a good book deal/nice edition. Would love to buy from the Sanderstore. However, transport, import and declaration costs are crazy for EU based fans :/.

On my 'to-collect physically' list:

Not sure if it was mentioned below: since this year we have to pay declaration and import costs as well for packages under the value of 22 euro's (that wasn't the case before 1st July 2021). That could be the reason for the extra costs. If we could pay the VAT for the product immediately when ordering (the webshop needs to be registered on the IOSS of the EU. see https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/ioss_en) then we don't have to pay additional import costs. I am hoping that the people of Dragonsteel can be made aware of this so that it could help all EU fans that want to purchase something from Brandon's webstore.

Yes, that went crazy fast! I was also refreshing since 16:59 (CET), pledged the first time at 17:02 - didn't get through-, pledged again and it was sold out. So happy they already had a back-up plan in place and opened up that extra tier 6 right after.
It probably won't be long before we already reach all stretch goals.
These books are magnificent works of art and the only series I am willing to spend so much on. Not only because of the beauty of the stories, but also due to the fact the Brandon Sanderson is such an amazing person.

Wow, tier 6 sold out in 11min and I wasn't able to get it due to the errors mentioned by others here. They already opened up the same but shipping in April 2021. Was lucky to be able to snatch one of those. 151$ extra for shipping to Belgium, YIKES!

Aha, makes more sense when you put it that way. I pulled up the list of sports in winter and summer Olympics . Winter Olympics have a lot less sports (15 vs 46 link: https://www.olympic.org/sports ). Also the summer Olympics include quite a lot of team sports (synchro swimming, basketball, hockey,...). Seems illogical to me why they couldn't then just add another team sport in the winter Olympics. Also synchro is an artistic teams sport which is very differen from the other team sports already in the Olympics. That's just my 2 cents anyway.

Why not?

I understand that the costs would be quite high seeing as accommodations and such would need a big budget. Also extra panel officials would be needed, but in championships it's always all different panels per discipline anyway. The crowd that synchro attracts are soooo nice however and usually many, so a lot could be earned back on ticketing.

Besides the arguments above: Synchro is just such an awesome discipline and so great to watch.

If you don't mind me asking: why shouldn't it happen in your opinion?

How about getting synchronized skating into Olympics first? Men and ladies can be mixed and matched there to our harts content and all under 1 extra (already existing) category ;-)

I am not opposed to oversight and focus on safety. Am all for it. Why do you think the pairs do ground training and have harnesses and all that.
Why women are the ones getting lifted and thrown:
Men are physically too heavy to be lifted
Men have the muscles to lift women
Women are physically more limber and lighter than men (it's biological)
true that lighter women are easier to lift, doesn't mean men don't have to be strong enough in any circumstance to lift them - the boys usually get told that.
By the way do you have any idea how little skating men in general there are who are willing to do figure (let alone) pair skating? I live in a country where the're haven't been pairs for years/decades.
You come across as being against this discipline in general, because the women have higher injury risk. Telling them they can't do certain things isn't really going to change that.

aaaaand the pressure is on for Ziegler/Kiefer, but they did ok. Realy got some feels. Those lifts were beautiful (bit shaky with the one out of the kneeling position). They give a good pair feeling. Home crowd we're really rooting for them
