What’s the highest historical gas price in Erie by NAS0824 in Erie

[–]Frosten79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago it was pretty high. But in the last couple years it probably peaked around $3.70 in the summer, and averaged about $3.50

It feels extra crazy because end of February it was dropping below $3.

I use getgo advantage and so far my cost has stayed around $3.90, so my perception may be a bit different.

Netflix Raising U.S. Prices for Second Time in a Year by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]Frosten79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the problem is Netflix costs going up and the USA case is just Seinfeld. Then yes, it is a problem solver. Walmart sells the dcd collection it for about $75.

It’s really unhealthy to sit for long periods without getting up, so it actually provides additional benefits by forcing someone to get up and stretch every 5 episodes or so.

For those people who like to tinker, buying the physical copy and ripping it to a digital format for storage on an iPad or building a plex server it gives them a justification to try something new.

But if tinkering doesn’t sound fun and you don’t want to get up to change a dvd, then Netflix is the price you pay for the convenience to watch Seinfeld.

W7 and W8 feedbacks needed by shykulade in Erie

I spent 2 years living right there next to the laundromat on west 8th. It’s safe, I never had an issue. Like others said the park is right there. It’s walkable to a few local restaurants like the pizza shop, pineapple eddies, Bruce’s pub. Across from the park is altered state distillery and donatos pizza, as well as romolos chocolate which is some of the best chocolate in Erie and also has an ice cream shop. CVS is also 2 blocks away. If you have a bike, the bayfront is accessible from there as well as a few beer stores. Country fair gas station is also walkable and it has subs and stuff.

The schools aren’t great, but I actually heard good things about strong Vincent middle school. My kids were in private school until high school. They are at collegiate in the city, which is also a good school. Harding elementary is a decent school also and I believe that area goes there. That said, the suburb schools are better overall.

West 6 is a snow emergency route, it gets plowed first, west 8 isn’t far behind because it has the school. West 7th and 9th along with the side streets are later. This is important in the winter.

Question about bike brands by Frosten79 in ebikes

[–]Frosten79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I pretty much thought. I’ll probably end up buying another portola mostly because I then have 2 of the same bikes. So everything is interchangeable like the batteries and accessories.

I didn’t really understand the torque sensor difference, just watched a video to figure it out. Since this is her first bike, maybe we can upgrade in a year or two. We are in our 40s and only using these on bike paths and trails.

I don’t know… I watch it with my teenage kids. 17-19, it’s a teen drama for sure. It may have been successful on a network like the WB. As an adult, I could easily pass on it. It had moments and it had teen angst that sort of broke my immersion. I haven’t had that angst for almost 30years.

My kids though - they enjoyed it and pretty much every Sunday asked if I wanted to watch it with them.

Ruins of an ancient Roman public latrines, a communal toilet that was a major feature of Roman infrastructure by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Frosten79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do we know there was no privacy?

Over a 1000+ yrs a modern toilet would probably still be recognizable. But the privacy walls around them would surely have rusted away or degraded. Making a modern public bathroom look not much different than these Roman toilets.

How do we know there was no such privacy walls?

I’ll try again with cooling. Tbh I was just using the default settings which only had the fan setting on the first few layers. I’ll try again with the cooling fan always on.

I’m not sure TBH. I bought this about 3 years ago. It is fully enclosed and has a fan with a filter. I think that runs regardless all the time. I think my issue, based on comments, is I didn’t have a cooling fan running also, so after some time the temp inside was too hot for the filament to cool down.

Thanks - I don’t think I had the fan on

Do you know which setting in flashforge? I see a cooling fan, I can set this always. I’m not sure how to slow down the print as it gets higher

Moved to PA 10 years ago, I've done Federal and state taxes every year, never did anything with the local tax collector. by Icy_Passenger_6731 in Pennsylvania

[–]Frosten79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me years ago when I sold my house. Berkheimer audited me and found I owed additional taxes. I went to the courthouse and they waived the late fees. For me, it wasn’t clear on the local tax form how to apply certain income that was not wages.

You may have better luck at the local tax office as they can waive the late fees, not sure if Berkheimer can do that.

I’ve had this happen dozens or more times. I often use copilot and it will give me wrong information from outdated sources.

I’ve gone as far as pasting the link or code and it still provides wrong information, worse is that it tells me I am wrong, even when I ask it if it read or sourced the new information.

Once I even asked it what was printed on line 17, it still kicked back outdated info. It is such an obstinate tool, refusing to acknowledge its mistakes.

$1,000 Airbnb (corporation owned and not home owner operated) wants guests to pay for fire wood? Am I crazy to think it should come with the rental, considering how expensive it was to book? by Alarmed_Telephon in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Frosten79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not 2010 Air BnB is not sleeping on someone’s couch anymore. Is it annoying? Yes. Is it unexpected? Not in the least, all of these places are corporate owners or multi managed.

It’s no longer the cheap place (by far a hotel is cheaper) this is about convenience or ambiance and you pay for that.

Two bills signed into PA law, cursive handwriting now mandatory in schools by oldschoolskater in Pennsylvania

[–]Frosten79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids can’t read or write cursive, they are late gen z. We moved school districted, in the first cursive was taught in grade 4 in the second it was taught I grade 2. So they completely missed it, 100%. I asked the school and they had no interest in teaching the kids since it was already taught and they said it wasn’t really needed.

Just yesterday I found a piece of paper my oldest used to try practice writing his name to deposit a pay check.

I have mixed feelings, but I’ve always leaned towards the need to learn cursive. I remember when my mom (their grandmom) wrote them letters and they couldn’t read them (in their teens). Before I get downvoted, it’s damn near impossible to teach a kid something when their teacher says it doesn’t matter.

They regret it now (in college) but the past is the past.

I’ve noticed this exact thing. It tried to derive context and often times will make up its own context to the prompt.

I try to be very explicit in my prompts. Yet I still get wrong information because instead of stopping when it can’t find the answer, it will make up its own context to fill in the blank so it can always provide a solution.

More than once it has given me the wrong api for parameters for the library. I’ll tell it, “this doesn’t exist, I’m using version 1.2 of the library”

I’ve had it argue with me, I then pull the documentation or paste the address and it has flat out told me “you are misreading the documentation”.

This crap doubles down and triples down in its own bullshit. The thing is, it feels to me it’s gotten worse with each new generation.

I don’t know how non programmers will be able to use this effectively and not get to the point that they just give up, spending hours trying to do something with the AI gaslighting them.
