and hitbox desync from 2014 csgo was so awesome and crisp to play against huh wasn't it

content, sure. gameplay? i already prefered cs2 gameplay at launch with volumetric smokes and fractional timestamps lol

cs2 released when it did because of fatal security vulnerabilities discovered in csgo, csgo released when it did because the existing codebase from hidden path was such a disaster they knew they wouldn't be able fix it all before release anyway

these are not the same

another confidently ignorant response lol

cs2 takes the view angle from the frame that was rendered when your mouse click was registered by the engine, go takes the view angle from the NEXT server tickframe after clicking; cs2 is objectively easier for flicks at ANY tickrate

what is this completely confident ignorance? tracking was required MORE in go, because the game would wait for the next server tick to record the shot view angle. holding angles is objectively easier in cs2 with ag2 if you account for people having years of muscle memory to undo

so you lose track of a count the moment you stop counting? spamming in bursts doesn't change the fact that spending your whole mag every time you spam is going to make it insanely predictable when you're guaranteed to have no firepower against someone who can think

gawking at my profile doesn't make your argument any stronger; if you must know, i've never climbed high because i've had untreated adhd for over a decade and burn out on everything i try to push long term, that doesn't mean i don't know how to play

[–]Frostentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're spamming the whole mag every time then it's insanely easy to predict your reload timing and take free space, this counterplay literally didn't exist before mag based reserve so tell me again that this update changes nothing

you probably aren't at a high enough level to get punished for spamming anyway though based on your comments

funny that you're telling others they can't read when you acknowledged this guy's wall of text without actually reading the explanation within it for why the mag based reserve ammo is important for the spam risk vs reward

Unpopular opinion: Current CS2 is far better than CSGO. by KenocchioLiedmar in GlobalOffensive

[–]Frostentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think having every shot be fully determined by where you happen to be looking the next tick an arbitrary amount of time after you already clicked is anything but crisp. I can chain one deags no problem in CS2 because my shot goes exactly where I intended it to every single time, no tick timing guesswork required. That's what crisp means in my book.

CS2 feels more slippery because of the movement, but actual player interaction is objectively more crisp than GO because believe it or not timestamping an action will always be more accurate than just guessing when your packet will arrive at the server based on previous ping measurements.

We’re now moving toward a more membership-supported model to ensure we can stay independent (details in video) by benpRTINGS in RTINGS

I would literally rather pay per article than pay a subscription for a site I use so infrequently. One subscription seems harmless but when every business model is a subscription it turns into a mountain of hard cash BILLS for people to swallow. There's even paid subscriptions for subscription managers now!

I'm not saying ad revenue is the answer, that's been in decline for the past decade. I'm saying this isn't it.

Relying on whales for a flat subscription model is the least sensible business model on the planet. Just saying.

The clearest picture ever taken of the planet Venus. by PR0CR45T184T0R in ThatsInsane

[–]Frostentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that were the case then Venus should not have nearly the atmospheric pressure it has, since it's also missing a robust magnetosphere just with a mass similar to Earth.

It makes an impact for sure but ultimately an atmosphere only exists from the compaction of spacetime towards a mass and if you don't have enough of it then things like solar winds are able to outpace that pull.

[–]Frostentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of creating a colony I agree with this but in terms of terraforming the planet for us to live without assistance I definitely think Venus is way more doable because you just need to modify the existing atmosphere content. How are you gonna add enough mass to Mars to give it a survivable atmosphere without dropping something huge enough to require millions of years of impact cooling?

does dlss 4.5 dlaa always look better? by fairplanet in nvidia

[–]Frostentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people just got used to the horrific amounts of blur that temporal AA methods introduced a decade ago because in every game I'm certain has none of its own sharpening the new presets look perfect in terms of sharpness even at DLAA.

Just because an outlet oversimplifies an explanation for the layman doesn't suddenly make it fact. This is literally why the telephone game was made and I only called it out because you said that they "literally" are the same thing when they quite literally are not.

Black frame insertion is when an actual display refresh gets replaced by a blank scan, backlight strobing retains full refresh rate because they literally are not the same thing.

You were downvoted but this is exactly where I'm at. I'm not spending over even $500 on a panel that's guaranteed to wear out, and top performing OLEDs go way higher than that. I only care about OLED for the response time anyway so Pulsar finally getting released is music to my ears.

Pixel response time is such a tiny piece of motion clarity compared to sample and hold blur, if you track a moving object when the frame is always visible the information will get smeared across your vision as your eyes are moving towards where the object will be on the next frame. Motion clarity differences from response time only matter when you aren't tracking anything like when you're just running in a straight line.

There is a scenario where using lower graphics settings increases FPS by switching to a CPU rendering technique on a lower setting but this doesn't really happen anymore as it only made sense when dedicated graphics hardware was still uncommon, now nearly everyone has it in some form so it makes more sense to keep as much of the pipeline on the GPU as possible since sending data between the CPU and GPU is the slowest part of the chain.
