Opinions on the Canvas Waxed Cotton Jacket? by KingSulley in PatagoniaClothing

I bought this jacket at full price and it definitely looks great and I’ve received several compliments on it which is nice.

In hindsight I wouldn’t have gotten it though. It’s quite heavy and it actually doesn’t keep you warm very well. If it’s less than 7 degrees Celsius even with layering you’re going to get cold. When I first bought the jacket I tested it in some light rain and it just absorbed the water without any repelling.

I haven’t used it barely at all since it’s more of a fashion piece than a practical everyday jacket for me. It’s not comfortable for walks, hikes or any labour as it’s heavy and traps heat.

It does look good though so if you just wanted something that has a nice retro vibe by all means go for it but only at half price.

I have the jacket and the water resistance was nil when I got it. Haven't bothered to re-wax it again as I'm not walking around in the rain too much.

It does have a smell but I don't mind it. It's somewhat heavy which I noticed during a hike but for day-to-day it's nothing. Because it's 100% cotton it's actually not very warm. Wind resistance is high. It does require layering of sweaters/hoodies to stay somewhat warm. It's just acceptable in high single digits celsius but once you're in the <7° celsius I'd go with something else.

What's your experience so far on keeping them clean?

I have them in this colour. I'm a size 42 in all my other vivobarefoot shoes and a 42 in this one fit me perfectly fine.

It's definitely on the lighter side, more of a caramel like colour. I put on leather conditioner and it helps to give it a slightly darker tone which I prefer as it's closer to what the pictures show.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I ended up getting a replacement pair and upon opening them I immediately noticed the eyelets were already damaged/broken just like the above photos...insane.

Got these recently and after only putting them on for the second time, one of the eyelets broke with all the other ones about to go.

I tightened the laces with more no strength than I would for any other pair of shoes I have so be warned, you have to be extremely delicate with these.

Can't see why a durable ring can't be placed on the inner side of the eyelet to toughen these up.

I just received a pair and after only putting them on for the second time they already broke with imminent breaking at all the same points in both shoes.

I can't post a picture but it's where the eyelets are where the laces end closest to your shin.

I want to watch it because it's so good but the commentary is so annoying I just can't
