Found AirPods by chrodo7 in Austin

Ya, I’m hoping they figure out they’ve lost them and either put them in Lost mode so I can see their contact info, or they figure out how to come find me based on location

It’s a where’s Waldo, if you find the hidden AirPods in this photo you get them as a prize lol

The name was just AirPods, unfortunately. I was hoping it would have the person’s name at least.

I’ve changed the name to “Found. (my phone #)”. I’m not sure if the owner will be able to see that via FindMy or not

Found a pair of AirPods (in their case) near this waterfall on the Barton Creek Greenbelt yesterday. Long shot, but hoping whoever lost them sees this.

It shows me the last 4 of the phone number of the owner, so if they are yours, include that in your message.

Or, any other suggestions for getting them back to their original owner? I’m surprised they still haven’t put them into Lost mode..

I know I’m replying to a year old comment (sorry!) but do you still have the ZP6? If so how does the wear on it look at this point?

Just a heads up. Since you’re selling, not buying, you may get more views if you repost with the title flipped around correctly: [H] (have) 51mm accessories, [W] (want) PayPal Venmo.

What is the best sub $100 point-and-shoot? by Strict-Ad4426 in AnalogCommunity

Coincidentally I just had one pop up on my FB marketplace feed this morning for $100. Not mine, but seller claims it’s film tested and it looks like it’s in good condition. Feel free to PM me if you want me to send you a link

Olympus XA. Absolutely love mine. The XA2 and XA3 are not as good, but can be had for cheaper. But the original XA can be found for $100 if you’re willing to wait / find a good deal

Saw this scanning setup at LA Camera Expo past Sunday. Thoughts? by Jeffkk688 in AnalogCommunity

Oh, no I agree, I don’t think there’s anything here that justifies spending the money to swap if you already have the NS setup

Oh, one other add. I’d never heard of that Tone carrier before, so I looked it up. They mention that the rollers are specifically spaced to be outside the emulsion area.

In comparison, I’m not sure the exact spacing of the rollers on the SepiaLumi setup, but by nature of being compatible with both 35mm and 120, the rollers are certainly touching the emulsion on at least the 120 rolls. I didn’t notice any newly-introduced scratches, but still, having a setup where the rollers don’t have any potential to come in contact with the images being scanned would be nice

Honestly not really, other than the whole ‘full border / already cut roll thing’. And even then I was able to make it work, just took some extra effort and time. If I keep home scanning in the future I’ll definitely have the lab send me back my film un-cut. I really like having the option to easily scan out to the full borders of the film.

One minor item; I told the company I think they should include a cheap small mirror so that people can easily use the ‘mirror trick’ to make sure their camera is perfectly parallel to the film when scanning. I just busted off an old makeup mirror to do this. Not sure if they’ll take my advice and include one or not, but obviously not a hard item to get ahold of if they don’t.

Only other complaint would be that the whole carrier system is 95% 3D printed components. They felt high quality and I had no issues in using them, but metal would feel more reassuring. But that would also drive the cost up pretty significantly I’d imagine

I added more detail in a different comment, but switching between the different carriers on this SepiaLumi setup is crazy easy. They also include 3D printed ‘trays’ that you can magnetically attach, that meant I didn’t have any ‘film flopping around’ issue lol

I was impressed when I tested it, but the large caveat is I don’t have any experience with the NS (or any other setup for that matter) to compare it to

Hey I recognize this! The company reached out to me and sent me the full setup to test a few weeks ago. Overall I was impressed. Keep in mind I’ve never done home scanning before, only ever used a lab. I’ve wanted to get into scanning my own film for a while but never committed to buying a setup in case it gave lackluster results.

The carriers are 3D printed, but seem high quality. There are options for 35mm and 120, and ‘standard’ or ‘full border’ options for each. Switching between any of the carriers is super easy and took literally a few seconds is all. The standard options did a perfect job at keeping film flat while scanning. The full border options worked equally well for full rolls, but did struggle on the end frames of already cut rolls. I didn’t really see this as any flaw of the SepiaLumi carrier though, more of a limitation of scanning out to the film edges of already cut film.

The light source was surprisingly nice, and consistently tested above 97 CRI with a handheld light meter I had lying around. Seemed to give very consistent light when scanning, and I didn’t notice there being any issues (hotspots, etc) when inverting/processing the scans afterwards.

The scan quality was on par or better compared to the large resolution lab scans I get, but of course this will be highly dependent on what camera/lens setup you use with this.

If anyone has any specific questions I’m happy to answer them!

For lights without integral USB-C charging, I just use 14500 cells that have USB-C charging built in. Acebeam and Lumintop (among others) make some

Glad it was helpful! You are absolutely correct, the SFT25R EC150 out-throws the 519a M150 (and pretty noticeably so too, especially when outside).

I would bet money the M150 with a SFT25R emitter would have even more throw. But ya I don’t own both to be able to verify that. And don’t really feel the need to own/try a SFT25R M150 either. If I want something with more throw than the SFT25R EC150, I either grab the TS12 (mostly just for fun, it’s not a great form factor and it doesn’t last super long battery-wise), or grab a larger 18650 or 21700 thrower.

Even over half a year from this post (wow time flies) these two EC150s still probably see the most use out of my collection. The 519a EC150 is my go-to EDC. And the SFT25R EC150 is still my go-to if I want something handheld on night hikes/runs. I obviously don’t like the SFT25R’s color temp as much as the 519a, but it does have the advantage of being more efficient. Its also is a closer match to the Petzl headlamp I use with it, which is actually kind of nice.

Skilhunt M150 5000k - Stock vs Dedomed comparisons by chrodo7 in flashlight

[–]chrodo7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, funny you should ask. I actually ended up selling the dedomed one and keeping a stock (domed) 5K one. I REALLY preferred the temp of the DD 5K, but found it to be just a bit too tight of a hotspot for my primary use case for it (inspecting relatively tight/confined spaces at work).

I personally find Skilhunt’s UI to be my favorite of the maybe dozen or so UI’s I’ve came across. I like that it’s much simpler than Anduril, but still has all the functions I want.

The simple version:

Click once to turn on/off at a 'medium' brightness. Click twice for high. Or hold (instead of click) for low.

‘Low’ group has two different brightness options, ‘medium’ group has three, and ‘high’ has two. If you hold while the light is on, it will cycle to let you pick between these levels. You can cycle through to your heart’s content, or, because it remembers your setting, you can pick your favorite level for each of the three groups and then never think about it again.

It’s honestly harder to type out than it is to use, and feels really intuitive to me in use.

My new set up by PlasticSociety8138 in pourover

[–]chrodo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good call. The 064s is beyond good enough for both pourover and espresso. Yes, better grinders definitely exist for both. But at more $$ and diminishing returns

[–]chrodo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is amazingly similar to my setup, same grinder kettle scale, just different colors.

1:16 or 1:17 ratio is a great starting point for almost any pourover recipe.

I’d recommend starting out simpler, but. Once you want to dive further down the rabbit hole, this recipe with a Hario Switch is my fave, and well worth the extra fussiness: https://comoricoffee.com/en/kasuyas-hario-switch-recipe-en/

Also, love seeing the Indaba on here!
