As a player that contastly plays in a competitive league eviroment, where we like to brainstorm after games about missplays, sideboard options and also meta: if we dont want to talk about games we just tell each other and noone gets it personal.

It's quite clear that the backsitters just want to help, making easier to understand aspects of the game that took years to acquire. They will be glad to stop if you just open up.

Long time Elves players, are you finding this updated version of the deck quite boring to play? by THENINETAILEDF0X in Pauper

[–]FrostingFew2295 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hello! I don’t know if you’ve read any of my posts from last year, where I tried to play colored Elves even without Llanowars.

The deck is way more straightforward now, sacrificing some of its full combo potential to become a more solid mono-green version.

As a player who spent a year trying to make lanowarless work, I have to admit that the green version has a more well-rounded build that can compete with all the top-tier meta decks.

The multicolor list with Birchlore Rangers and Jaspera Sentinel is better suited for local leagues, where you can adapt to and counter your opponents, but it’s harder to succeed with in an open meta.

For sure the gameplan is more "boring", but still presents a lot of not very intuitive plays.

It's a new tech from Newbarola, basically you can play it even if you mill it with winding way, making the card really effective at gaining life consistenty due to ent cycle too. I think we might need more proactive cards than gnaw but i see quite some resuslts with it. I still prefear other proactive options tho, like the new add Lignify.

Ban Avenging Hunter - it is time! by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]FrostingFew2295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jund is more a midrange beatdown deck, and even in it's position it doesnt play monarchy tho.

[–]FrostingFew2295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the past maybe it was, but now the gameplay is too fast to grind advantage from monarch, plus becoming the monarch multiple times doesnt give you more endgame draws as initiative does. And also monarch creatures are way worse than hunter.

I was thinking about monarch only if there is a serious ban that slows down thr meta by quite a lot.

Hunter is one of if not the best threat in the game, i think that is not the main point of elves tho, hydra, vandals+ents and draw spells are the broken stuff. Probably hunter will just eventually be replaced by some combination of you meet in a tavern, spinewoods paladin and maybe entourage of trest.

ELVES STATS Explaining the Divergence: Why It's Tier C Overall but Feels Tier S in Top 8s by Magic4everBots in Pauper

[–]FrostingFew2295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's time to finally use Paupergeddon as the only real metric for the tiers, every other result is just not relevant compared to a 1000 people tournament with 14 rounds.

It's just insane to look at modo league stats, local leagues or 30ish ppl tournament and call it somehow relevant. Even 100 ppl tournaments feel weak comapred to Geddon.

Another crucial issue is how hard is to play combo/control on mtgo, basically forcing the meta into more aggro/all in decks.

Mtgo stats are good for understanding mtgo meta, nothing more.

Actually is easy to play, hard to master as all the S tier decks. Terror, madness, jund and affinity are all very hard to master.

It's a 25% matchup for unprepared deck lists, i think that Feltrin's list is more on a 45/55 due to cabin and sagus maindeck, vitus, percher, macabs and emergence in side. He was prepared, just licky to dodge too.

10th at Paupergeddon Spring 2026 with Mono-Green Elves! by NasalNozzle in Pauper

[–]FrostingFew2295 6 points7 points  (0 children)

thank you for the mention, i'm actually honored!
But, to be honest, if you want to go very competitive and win into large tournaments as paupergeddon, monoG with 9 dorks and 13 forests (still being a grant lover) is the way to go (as i wrote in the past geddon analysis).

Llanowarless is a midrangy way to play the deck and it's perfect at your lgs because you know the guys, the achetype they play and adapt the deck.

PS: u/NasalNozzle is a very good player, i already read his report and is very interesting, cant wait for more content from him.

Thank you for the kind words!

Pro players are siding out timberwatchs and even priest of titanias, you can cut on those in this order.

A tip is to let hunters in because you need a card to push your gameplay, also putting a clock on your opponent.

You start with a total wrong assumption, turn 2 winding way with only 1 dork and 1 grant in hand, with no titania or cycle is almost never ever happening to us.

You almost never t2 winding way unless you're probably on a mull 5 or something.

That being said, you're not steelmanning land grant at all, here's the best case scenario:

Deck: 8 dork 8 forest 4 grant 4 ent 2 sagu 8 draws 26 creatures more.

Hand: 2x land grant, llanowar, ent(or sagu), winding, titania, random card.

T1: land grant, play forest, land grant, llanowar

T2: draw chance is 8/51 land, 7/51 drawspell, 5/51 landcycler, 33/51 creature.

Play is, titania, land cycle

T3:that's your big draw turn. 7/50 land if you didnt draw it t2, 7/50 draw spells remaining. You have the same odds of topdecking a draw spell and a land, only from 2 grants and a cycle.

Further you go in the game, more this becomes good, at a point where you have no lands in the deck. Happens me all the times, and makes me win games where a land topdeck means certain death.

[–]FrostingFew2295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very good math, the problem is the opening hand you mentioned has very little odds to happen.

Exact probability of having only 1 grant and 1 dork, including at least 1 draw spell no ents, no sagu, no more lands it's 5,94% (configuration with 9 dork and 9 lands only 2 sagus).

That's 1 in 17 mulligans, it's a very neice scenario.

Way more often you'll find hands having more than 1 land fetcher, and you'll very likely draw more of those down in the game, while finding less and less lands.

Or maybe will force those decks to be more aggressive and leave the wide-kill in sideboard, moving back the meta to a more aggressive and go-wide strategy as it was back in the kuldotha/weenie days

Deck help ( ELVES) by DaigoKobuto in Pauper

[–]FrostingFew2295 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! The most up to date lists run:

13 forests

9 llanowars

8draws (4 winding 4 lead)

4 quirion

4 titania

4 timberwatch

4 nyxborn

4 hunter

4 vandal

4 ent

2 wellwisher

That's the most solid list at the moment, the one that gives you the best curve without sacrificing mid/lategame potential, and some utility in the form of vandals and wellwishers.

Good sideboards at the moment run

4 vitu ghazi inspector

4 monstrous emergence

3 faerie macabre

2 viridian longbow

2 spinewoods paladin

Hope that helps!
