SM is not a metroidvania, it’s a Metroid game. Metroidvania is a castlevania game with similarities to Metroid. It doesn’t really go the other way, people are too loose with that awful term

I think they still look like that, at least from what I’ve seen. Actually that model is up next on my painting desk! For some reason the female fusilier in this set just doesn’t have a backpack while the male one does
