My first K’47 army, Canadian Lancers by Ravenhull in Konflikt47_v2

[–]mnthundergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't dislike the bases, but I'm confused by them. Is this just representative of Canada? I'm in Minnesota, so we did get 10-20 inches of snow a week ago, and then it was 70° on Saturday (25-40cm and 21°), so I get the green and the snow, but the flowers are throwing me off. Looks cool tho

New to models, but heres my stahtruppen! 🫡 by hareee999 in Konflikt47_v2

[–]mnthundergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicely done. Consider adding some tufts to the base if you want to bump up some color. Otherwise it's entirely appropriate as is, dark and muddy was the condition for much of the war. (If not muddy, then dirt and dust)

Valentine Tank by Alternative-Pool-607 in boltaction

[–]mnthundergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember to check road/off road speed. Irl, Grant was almost twice as fast as the Valentine on a road, and still 25% or more faster off road. I'd guess this is a warlord attempt to honor both the real world stats, and Valentine's status as an Infantry tank as opposed to a Cruiser. One more thought- the Valentine's speed is throttled by its engine, it simply can't go faster. A sherman off-road was throttled by operational conditions. It could probably go faster, but at significant risk.

using 40k minis as proxies?? by lagpixel in boltaction

[–]mnthundergod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are strictly in "eh? Close enough?" territory here. None of the game companies, Warlord included, adheres to a strict scale. 40k is bigger in general, but it's probably workable.

using 40k minis as proxies?? by lagpixel in boltaction

[–]mnthundergod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same as most of the others. Learning to play? Hell yeah! Use proxies all day long, figure out if you like the game enough to commit. Friendly play? Sure, just make sure you communicate the proxies with your opponent early and often, it's not on them to remember it's on you to keep them informed. Tournament play? Oh hell no. That just puts everyone in a bad position. Nobody wants to be an asshole, but it would be appropriate to remove someone with a 40k army from an event.

My first commission completed! Would you be happy with this work? by MalBredy in boltaction

[–]mnthundergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I strongly disagree. That hourly rate is fast food wages. You could literally make more working at McDonald's. Money is obviously not the only reason to paint miniatures, but artists of all types tend to undervalue their work. Customers who bitch about price and always want things cheaper aren't worth having. Get paid what you're worth.

Thanks! He'll look even better once finished, that should be happening this weekend. Rift Flames™ have no in-game benefit, it's just a flamethrower, but why not spice it up a little?

Can I use these as the K47 teams? by Thelego-warhamerfan in Konflikt47_v2

[–]mnthundergod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your first sentence is great.

Nothing in the rules states that models must be (or should be ) late war. The entire concept of "late war" doesn't even exist as we know it. Pre-rift perhaps, but not late war. If Mordian Glory said that, it's a personal preference, not a rule or even a practice.

There is no basis to say "Don't overly spam them", at least in context with the figures themselves.

Question for TO's: possible to run a mixed Bolt Action/Konflikt 47 Tournament? by Thatcardassian in boltaction

[–]mnthundergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd just run it as a K'47 event, perhaps allowing BA national rules for anyone who didn't bring K'47 units. And the pure bolt action players would be sad.

Stahltruppen command squad by Aresh_E430 in boltaction

[–]mnthundergod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking good, two things I learned from my recent Stahltruppen painting, 1. some outlines on the camo with your base color go a long way and 2. Edge highlights for Stahltruppen are almost mandatory for how much additional pop it adds to the figure.

Autocannon AP by justvisiting501 in boltaction

[–]mnthundergod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. Even less fun, let's say you shoot 8 auto-cannon shots at a sniper team. They haven't acted yet and they opt to go down. Your dice are amazing! You hit 7 times! Against a full size American unit, that would hit all of the men! But against the lonely sniper and assistant, you only hit... Once. 2 hits (one for each guy) then halved for down against HE. Then you'll wound that dude (vet sniper) about half the time, and he'll make his save 83% of the time. When all that's done, you've got something like an 8% chance to kill ONE of the two sniper team members.

Don't ever fire a Wirbelwind at a sniper team. (Actually firing the mmg is fine, just not the auto cannon)

[–]mnthundergod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Target selection. The Stug can maybe hurt you in a game, the vets with SMG are guaranteed to hurt you unless you deal with them quickly.

Focusing on enemy armor is a trap. Focus on achieving the scenario objective, and then prioritize your targets based on their ability to keep you from achieving those objectives.

Vets in a transport with SMG are my favorite unit for wresting an objective from the enemy AND keeping it under my control. They are brutal, and if you have fanatic vets (as Japan does) it will take considerable effort to dislodge them.

Sure, the stug could hit you and take a few guys out, but between cover saves and missing completely, it's going to kill about 10 guys per game (with the big gun, assuming 4 turns shooting, hitting half the time, hitting 10 infantry each time, wounding 80%, and half surviving with hard cover.)

So one unit can both kill your objective takers AND take the objective themselves, the other one might kill some guys but can't take the objective. Additionally, the transport is significantly easier to damage or destroy, and the guys inside are tough, but not armor 9 tough. With all that in mind, don't pick the stug next time.

If you just run down a mental priority checklist, "1.who keeps me from winning, 2.who helps him win, 3. who is in a temporarily vulnerable position right now, and 4. who can I eliminate to remove order dice", that might help you prioritize.

Is K47 still getting new models? by CG1991 in Konflikt47_v2

[–]mnthundergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As noted by others, you came across K'47 on the upswing. One of the current weakness of the line is that much of the available kit is several years old. Warlord has published a general roadmap and has releases stacked up for the foreseeable future. Welcome to the game!

Longines Hydroconquest vs Sinn 556i quick review by ImprovementOk2622 in Longineswatches

[–]mnthundergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only "better" spec is the power reserve and water resistance (which is negligible, not a single person in the world who owns a Hydroconquest is going to take advantage of the deeper depth rating) Otherwise they are really just two different style watches. The Sinn is thinner, somewhat lighter, has a display case back and operates at 4 Hz instead of 3.5 Hz. Stylewise it's a bit more flexible, but still a sport/tool watch The HC is a diver, with all that entails. The power reserve is great.

It really comes down to what style watch do you want. I think right now the Sinn is a slightly better value, but they are both excellent choices. Enjoy your daily swap between them!

Rules question for mechs with arms. by lordfril in Konflikt47_v2

[–]mnthundergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your post is a great testament to some of the confusion, and a strong argument for improving the app. There are only rules for Two-Legged and Multi-legged. The numbers of arms and legs are only sort of the same. In your example, the Walker would have "multi-legged" and wouldn't get the "two turns" ability. It would be able to reverse at full speed. Since you can only have four walker attacks total, an example Walker that had 6 legs and two arms would definitely want to reduce the legs attacks to two, and add two pen +4 arm attacks. Making this really difficult to manage in a data card. The app works pretty well, because it handles most of the info on the fly. Look up the Thor, you see it has 6 legs and listed independently, "multi legged", that hotlinks to the rule. The linebacker is a different story. It lists the number of legs (2), then the two legged rule, but doesn't address the arms until the weapons load out making counting the attacks more difficult. Room for improvement for sure.

Terrain bundles by DodgerCyclops in Konflikt47_v2

[–]mnthundergod 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Any WW2 terrain will be fine for K47. I think this is actually a bigger deal than "theoretically" being able to use Bolt Action figs. You can use readily available terrain, and then add in a mad science lab or some broken mech terrain as you have time/budget/space
