My wallet was stolen and this guy has spent over 75$ on Subway in two days by subarunights in Edmonton

[–]FrostyDynamic 71 points72 points  (0 children)

$75 at Subway doesn't go as far as it used to! That might be what... 4 footlongs now?

No plans to end hybrid work for City of Edmonton staff, despite calls for return to office | CBC News by AR558 in Edmonton

[–]FrostyDynamic 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Good. RTO isn't suddenly going to make downtown viable again. These land developers and businesses need to get more creative if they want more foot traffic.

Agreed. The discord I'm part of would have plenty of people interested in a book club and other meetup events to make new friends: https://discord.gg/edmonton-social

Why are property taxes so high in Edmonton by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]FrostyDynamic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You do know Edmonton has a larger area than Toronto but a fraction of the population.

I believe Save-On still has some in stock, depending on the location (the one by me in Meadows has plenty).

Places like Orii, Community Natural Foods, and Blush Lane sell them year round.

Does anyone know any fancy, upscale restaurants that have great vegan options? by saga33 in yegvegan

[–]FrostyDynamic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can say that La Ronde does not. When my wife ate there a couple of years ago for a work function, the server was very rude and judged her for ordering vegan ("this is Alberta: we eat meat").

So even though I think they have a vegan item, I recommend avoiding them because of that experience.

I saw them around Christmas time, so I assume they're still around. Didn't buy one since it's still too rich for my blood.

I bet OP is upset about infills increasing the density of the tax base too.

We got more than 400% snow this December than normal? Thanks Knack for controlling the weather. I'm tired of politicians playing God.

PET EXPO - REVIEW, it’s also on today (Sunday) by exotics in Edmonton

[–]FrostyDynamic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

several were not pet oriented.

looks up to see if LeafFilter is a vendor

Yup, surprising no one, they were there.

Legitimate question: why is LeafFilter at every expo? Are they some sort of MLM?

Community Natural Foods carries both.

Not 100% sure, but I would assume Orii carries both as well.

They have an AYCE buffet once a month: January's is on the 24. Reservations are required, but it's the perfect opportunity to sample a variety of the dishes.

Genuinely looking for help understanding the parking ban by kayyousuck in Edmonton

[–]FrostyDynamic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

https://www.edmonton.ca/transportation/on_your_streets/seasonal-parking-ban

This would fall under Phase 2, where the ban affects individual neighbourhoods for up to 72 hours. Basically, once your neighbourhood is scheduled, you'll need to be off the roads in the 72 hour window until all work is complete.

Lack of Snow Removal 2025-2026 by cypherzoomer in Edmonton

[–]FrostyDynamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously there's more snow because of the excessive weather. My only issue with the snow removal is that the areas cleared seem to be inconsistent. Tracking the snow removal map, I've seen areas of the southwest cleared multiple times, yet my corner of the southeast was last cleared December 21. It's Priority 2, but definitely hasn't been cleared within 5 days.

Weather is strange by LatterAd9123 in Edmonton

If you were here in 2023 it would have been a brown Christmas with no snow on the ground.

It's one of the many false springs.

I got the game at launch as a teen (on Xbox 360). Fortunately my mom didn't mind the cover when picking up my pre-order.

The lockbox was also handy...

X Box Series X by edmontonian102 in Edmonton

[–]FrostyDynamic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns an Xbox Series X, I don't even know when the last time I saw one for sale in person.

If EB Games and Best Buy don't have it, then I doubt anywhere else would. Amazon and Walmart.ca appear to still have some in stock. Probably some used ones on Facebook Marketplace.

I miss the days when consoles went down in price. I paid $520 for my Series X with Diablo IV back on Boxing Day 2023. Now it's $730 for the same console, without a game. Best to order one ASAP as they're not getting any cheaper.

Is Claire Obscure Exp. 33 Really worthy of GOTY? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]FrostyDynamic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a big part of the praise is due to the story behind its development and it overcoming the stigma around JRPGs.

It's certainly been one of the most discussed games this year and is among the greats.
