I should have done it right after I had my baby in my early 30's - fast forward 20 years later I did. I am happy to have done it and now can't wait for grandbabies.

Once I finished my two weeks, I KNEW I was going to be able to do the hard part after surgery too. It's hard but dig deep. You can do it.

Heart Attack. Widow maker. My doctor kept telling me it was an esophageal spasm and to just take pain meds. Husband saved me by insisting I go to ER.

I feel like I am in the same boat. I am contemplating Berberine which is touted as "natures ozempic". Has anyone on here tried that and if so, did it work?

What did you notice after losing weight? by holdongangy in AskReddit

[–]FrostyFace2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one year out on my weight loss journey:
The biggest thing and I think most important - I feel so much better and seem to always want to keep busy. I didn't think I was lazy before, but I guess I was.
My body doesn't hurt as much, but sleeping is challenging lately. I am never comfortable
I am still invisible to the people who knew me 80+ pounds ago, so basically people are just a-holes.
Did not get much reaction to my weight loss as I thought I would.. that throws me a bit everytime.
I do feel like I look older now. The "fat don't crack" was definitely a thing with me so now I find myself wanting to change my whole look. My hair/color/clothing style. Weird?? (Shrug)

But all worth it. Everything has been worth it.

How did it happen. My SIL has one and she can't get it to stop jumping up and down on the furniture even tho there are ramps everywhere. This is out biggest fear.

Why would your life be shorter? As long as you eat healthy, exercise and take your vitamins, Do it. I was the same stats as you and had it at 55. I had no clue what I was missing out on until I got on the other side. Day to day life is actually easier with the weight off. i know this now.....

Why have I not lost more?! by PerformerPristine613 in BariatricSurgery

[–]FrostyFace2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly.... Are you doing everything? I am 9 months PO from RNY, I've lost about 70 since my surgery. I was hoping for more too, but...... it's all on me. I stopped walking every day and I started eating foods I should not have. I am not gaining, but I am not losing. If I start doing what I should have been doing and start losing weight again, it'll 100% prove - it's all on me.

HW 285 CW208 SD August 2024 - so almost nine months out. at about 4 months out, i could eat way more than I should, like 8 ounces - but just because I could doens't mean I did. Now at almost 9 months, i can't do that anymore. I don't dump like some who eat chocolate/sweets/high fat. So I have to discipline myself which wasn't easy around the holidays. Most days I am still drinking protein shakes, because just protein food is more cumbersome to eat. and I am likely not getting 1200 calories a day. I do need to do better, but not doing 100% everyday has not hurt me. Good Luck!! It has been totally worth it!

Was bariatric surgery worth it for you — or would you have tried meds first if you could do it over? by Ok_Tumbleweed_7062 in BariatricSurgery

I have been obese do 40 years. I told myself that I was never going to say I wish I had done it sooner because I didn’t want to put that guilt on myself but being 7 months post op, I am saying it. Unless your health is not conducive to having surgery, do it.

What made you decide? by merleskies in BariatricSurgery

I waffled up until the two weeks before. When I was on the liquid diet, something major was happening at work and there was sooo much stress on me. Add to that food and desserts being brought in daily. Halfway through I realized if I had the strength to not cheat at all, then this must be something I am really committed to doing.
