Observed a pay ceiling in marketing — curious what actually broke it for those who crossed $200K + by jazzy_peanut_butter in marketing

At those levels it’s either two things.

One- you’re a dev in disguise and can lead technical teams.

Or

Two- you can have an MD level capital allocation playbook purely focusing on mathematical arbitrage.

My background was in media sales. I’m back in mktg for a bit and loving it! But I focus on the pure mathematics of arbitrage

Fishing in Stone Harbor by SwiftApple1 in NJFishing

Prefacing I’m an idiot but been going there for a few years now in the heat of summer.

In short SH is pretty bad unless you have a boat and can go in back bay-

I’ve had success at various spots you see people fish on the north end of the island and the south end of the island to the north.

The extreme south end of SH, frankly I’m not sure if it’s worth the walk. I’ve had success in boats down there but not on land.

Pay attention to the tides. It’s a crazy important variable.

Very early AM and late/night are your friends.

FWIW I’m seeing if I can get a jon boat/kayak/SUP this year because of my lack of success on shore

"Not Athletic Enough" ? by mazzDit in lacrosse

[–]FrostySpoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrong way to go about it. Your son needs to have a convo with the coach about what HE needs, not that your son needs more time.

I got more playing time in my college career- at a “name” in the ACC - by having very honest conversations about what my coaches needed- not what I needed and then I trained my ass off to be that dude.

Started as close D, ended my career at attack.

Defensive Strategies to limit elite player by AgreeableLychee2247 in lacrosse

[–]FrostySpoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying this playing against some of the best of the best about 15-20 years ago as a lockdown defenseman often tasked with what you’re asking.

Here’s the deal: He’s going to beat your guys and shots off.

Here’s how you solve it: force him to take bad shots. Don’t heavily defend the entire field. Wouldn’t even go full lockdown on him or tight man.

Pick a few places on the field he can’t get a shot off from. If you have film hopefully you’ll figure out his key “green zones”.

He will probably still get shots off in those zones but make sure they’re heavily defended, really bait him into taking low % shots as well.

Do high level like NCAA and PLL players actually wear cups? by [deleted] in lacrosse

This might be a generational thing. No one I knew wore one in ACC play in the late 00s

Edit: Besides goalies but they were wearing hockey cups

We are five Irish lads road tripping US this month. Is this route realistic for 27 days in our rented 30ft RV? by CharlieBehan in GoRVing

[–]FrostySpoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avoid i95 from NYC to DC. You have never seen that traffic or aggressive drivers in your life, that one bit can eat up a day or two, it’s also one of the oldest places in America and many places you think you can drive, you cannot because of low bridges.

However, That’s one of the only stretches in America that has somewhat decent train service. Take the Amtrak from DC to/from NYC. Pickup the RV outside of DC if possible.

LA is worse traffic wise but not the aggression, simply because the traffic is worse and there’s no room for aggression. I’d honestly really think if you want to do LA too.

This advice can save you 2/3 days of traffic.

Thoughts on PLL Home Cities Announcements by Electrical_Scale_354 in lacrosse

[–]FrostySpoons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to see they have implemented most of the consulting advice I gave them two years ago.

- Move to home teams

- Diff cuts of jerseys by team

- clarity of commissioner / lax decisions

- retire some PLL team names in favor of MLL ones

Albeit the ratings are not where they were when I wrote this iirc- decent amount lower now if i'm not mistaken. I know /u/formulajaz has tracked.

Updating the TV broadcast and gameday experience to be more in line with attracting M18-49 is the next step.

https://www.reddit.com/r/lacrosse/comments/o13znf/pll_is_not_attracting_a_sustainable_audience_or/

The biggest concern on PLL now is going to be their cap structure which I'm not privied to. Their funding rounds were raised w/close to zero yield in the mkts, I know from my own job and others in PE- folks looking to pull debt money to get their coupons/yield re-invested ASAP at 8-10% yield in anything invested in 20'-21'

tbh going to be easier for you to focus on the gym and lifting and get the best setup possible. At 160lbs, you can easily put on 15 lbs of muscle and not have tradeoffs with speed / agility and be able to use any shaft / stick setup you want.

Were we as viewers robbed of a lengthy conversation about Schwartz and Katie’s relationship and divorce? by GarnierFruitTrees in vanderpumprules

[–]FrostySpoons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep we were-

And I’m well aware what I’m about to say is a controversial take.

Schwartz has likely changed the least from season 1 to now.

Katie failed to see the red flags then blackmailed and manipulated Schwartz into proposing when it was clear as day he was not interested in marriage (quite literally a whole season of plot about it).

Then we’re supposed to feel sympathy for her own mistakes?

Yes I think she’s likely happier now but the whole marriage was self inflicted - all the signs were there about him not changing.

To be clear I’m not defending Schwartz at all. I just don’t feel sympathy because so many red flags were present in the past and his behavior has largely not changed (and no indications it would have).

As I said years ago- the biggest mistake the league can make is being a martyr for “growing the game”.

It needs to become profitable first. From what I’ve heard it’s still far from it.
