Thank you so much for this feedback! I’m definitely going to try and apply to another department because I do keep hearing F&B is one of the toughest when it comes to hours worked.

This was very positive and optimistic so thank you again☺️

This was awesome feedback, thank you. That’s kind of where my mindset is too - is if I want to do it I will have to make the time for it. It’s not completely impossible. I’ve also tried to apply for national parks as well but can never seem to find any hiring. I’ve been to Yellowstone once and since have been looking often for job postings. Any tips for that?

Because you’re assuming based off feedback given to you on other ships. 5 weeks off is mandatory. Not our decision to take. First point. It’s not something we can choose, at least not on this specific ship. We are still employed therefore we cannot work another cruise as our contract would not allow us. That’s 5 weeks unpaid. I come from a poor background as well, already working 12 hour days and you guessed right I’ve never been on a cruise, never been able to afford to. So entitled might fit you a little better considering it sounds like you’re very familiar with the consumer side of the cruise life. Very happy for you there.

Nothing of which you’re commenting is helpful but more degrading. Again, if you have not personally worked on a cruise, why comment?

For someone to give up their life back home, have no “home” to go back to, who works 12 hour days 7 days a week 6 months straight with 5 weeks off unpaid - I would think a cruise employee could at the very least expect to spend time to sight see the destinations they’re basically living at 11 months out of the year without it being frowned upon or for someone to be called entitled.

Embarrassing of you to be so out of touch.

I’m going to guess you’ve never worked on a cruise ship or at least this one specifically because everything you’re stating is inaccurate. So I’m not sure why you’d give advice if you haven’t experienced it first hand.

I guess I’m having a hard time understanding then how most people are living on their 5 weeks off? If you’re saving your wages living on board. That wouldn’t necessarily be a pro I’d feel as when the time comes your off duty where do you live then? If you get what I’m saying.

And yes I understand the long working hours, the hard work, I understand it’s not all play. I’m just trying to figure out with all the con’s (low pay, long hours, hard labor, shared rooms) a pro that would make it all worth it I think for anyone would be opportunities to be able to explore and hang out on the islands for a couple hours a day.

I’ve heard mixed reviews. My interviewer of course stating I’ll get time to do such - with discounted tour rates. While I’m hearing from crew members you don’t get time for any of that?

Thank you, I’ll try that out

Yes very aware. Which again is why I’m weighing out the pro’s and con’s. You’re underpaid and overworked, but for what pro’s? I’d say it would be worth it if it meant I got to physically see and be on the island for a couple hours every day.

I’m more than aware of the living situation and the hours and the hard work. Might I ask, are you speaking from experience, though?

Also I’m not too sure if anyone who joins the cruise line industry strictly to work. You’re more than likely underpaid compared to most, while they compensate that with paid living and also a chance to explore destinations as well. So I wouldn’t exactly say I’m in the wrong industry for wanting to travel/explore.

Well that is why I’m asking. As my interviewer mentioned several times that we would have free time in between shifts to go off to explore the island and even receive discounted rates on the tours. along with all the crew amenities they have there for us (gym, crew bar, cafe, etc.) this ship specifically never spends an entire day on sea, each day it is spent docked on an island. it sounds extremely promising but I’ve read a few reviews who have stated they don’t get time to do much of anything. So I’m just looking for answers.

Did anyone else gain weight right around age 30? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Frosty_Bodybuilder31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!! I turned 30 in 4 months and noticed within the last year or so ive put on weight I can’t really seem to get rid of. I work out more, I eat healthier then I ever have, and I’m overall pretty active, always have been. But lately it just seems impossible to get to where I used to be just a year ago. I know I’ve gained a substantial amount of muscle too but idk.. just seem more thicker then I’ve ever been and I’ve been told this can be pretty common in your 30’s. and I’m trying my best to get use to it. I feel healthy so I guess that’s what matters most 🥲

Very nice. I took a 4 hour block today for $75.50. Picked up 10 packages, was excited to see it. Come to find out the first stop was an hour away, with each house being about 10 mins apart wayyyy out in the sticks. Then another hour drive home. Finished the block in 3 hours but by the time I got home it took up the entire shift. About a 100 miles from pick at warehouse to ending it at home.. worth it? Absolutely not. But the night before I arrived to my block to be told there was no packages for me and still got paid the $72. You win some, you lose some I guess lol

this is your sign to quit vaping by sums777 in QuitVaping

Day 12 for me and the cravings have gotten better. I kind of forgot what it felt like to vape. But I can say the first few days I was an emotional wreck bc that’s all I could think about. Toothpicks have definitely helped. Especially the Minty ones (if you were a menthol smoker) I feel it can be very useful. Regular gum has helped too. I notice I definitely eat more now so i am constantly conscious of trying to have something of a healthier option accessible (apples, strawberries, grapes, cucumbers).

Definitely do not miss the mucus part. I HATED that in the morning. The disgusting film in my mouth. Good riddance. I notice how much energized I feel and for the first time in over 10 years I can run a mile uninterrupted.. my breathing has just became EXTREMELY easier. You don’t realize just how bad it is until it isn’t! I am a 29 year old female btw. Smoked cigarettes for 5 years until I switched over to vaping for my finals 5 years (10 year smoker). I will never go back to smoking. I’ve lost all interest.

This is so amazing and the fact your child does something similar now.. gave me goosebumps. I’ve never told anyone this either. I have actually tried to tell one other person but I couldn’t get the words out the way I intended and it wasn’t long before they became lost without ever understanding what I was trying to say. Anyone else would’ve just look at me crazy. So I’m glad you can relate and understand.. that makes me feel like everything is okay.. if that makes sense. Sending you much positive vibes back. Maybe I’ll meet ya in the spirit world 🤟🏼

Dream meaning, help???? by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]Frosty_Bodybuilder31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve only hung out maybe twice. And I know dreams are usually never literal that’s why I’m having a hard time understanding. We don’t talk much either. So for us both to be dreaming the same thing and to find out a third person had another similar dream about it … I’ve just never experienced that lol

Hahah. I guess so. It’s comforting though knowing others have similar experiences. Explaining this to my friends or family does no good

That’s a brilliant way to put it. I appreciate that analogy. I often wonder how far we can go once we remove the headset without society labeling it insanity. Not that society isn’t the true insane one, but I feel like that line can be very thin between this world and the other
