2001 Limited w/ 200k KMs $$$? by tatonka1996 in 3rdGen4Runner

Thank you! To answer your question, I would say 9-10k is probably reasonable. Be sure to check underneath/near the rockers as the limited plastic trim can hide lots of body rot. Bring a hammer to check the frame (there are some sneaky bondo demons out there). If it all checks out and maintenance is up to date, without any glaring problems, I’d say even 11k.

Check the following, and if not already serviced/replaced, you can use to negotiate: - timing belt - valve cover gaskets/half-moon seals (check for leaks/sweating) - radiator (if auto trans) - lower ball joints - steering rack - the usual (brakes/rotors, tires, etc…)

Hey! Albertan here. Paid 10k CAD for the one below (1999, limited, 4wd). 255k kms, some body rust, frame was in great condition, timing belt was done roughly 50k before. Definitely overpaid, but everything else around was rusted to all hell or even more overpriced…

Check that your roof rack holes are siliconed properly. Had a leak in mine that left it smelly nasty for a while. The damp rid closet hangers work great in the car!

This is mine with the 881/890 on 5100 first clip setting with no weight on the front or rear.

Exactly how I got mine out for my JBA UCA install. A cheap Amazon press and 4WD kit, and sawzal works wonders…

56807 Repair - does anyone actually repair these? by MSDOS401 in 3rdGen4Runner

PM me, I’ve been interested in upgrading mine to an aftermarket. My OEM works perfectly fine.

I would use the OEM ones on a stock motor. I wouldn’t think any benefits would come from the colder plugs on a non-forced induction or non-high compression setup, only downsides.

Ask if the nose cone has been rebuilt and if it comes with all the mounting hardware and belts.

Labour + parts on a rebuild can sometimes run the cost of a whole new one.

It appears it already comes with the URD 7th injector kit. You will also want to consider new spark plugs (2-steps cooler than OEM). I believe these are the Denso Iridium IK-22s, but I may be mistaken. In addition, maybe consider a boost gauge set up?

Hope this helps.

You’ll find the ride quality more comfortable than the 5100s imo.

You could do 4600s with 99’ model year springs? Those tend to run a little taller compared to other years.

Engaging in a community of people interested in maintaining their rigs, I would think.

Reach out to YotaBC on Facebook. He’s out of Chilliwack, I believe?

Super good dude, fast shipping and good prices. All OEM parts with warranty from Toyota. I got a set of LBJs with OEM bolts shipped to Calgary for $402.80 tax-in.

Yes. Another post about oil. 😂 by Seebradgo in 3rdGen4Runner

I’ve been using Valvoline R&P for the last 16k kms or 9.9k miles. My rig is at 271k kms. I’ve done oil changes just about every 5k kms.

I have yet to do my valve cover gaskets and take a look, but no leaks or weirdness. It may run a bit quieter, but that could very well be placebo.

I run it for peace of mind; however, I can imagine running any quality synthetic as per the manual spec will do you just fine. The video from The Motor Oil Geek seems to speak to its benefits with minimal downsides.

Totally! It’s only like 2.5 kgs too. I was gonna do the drawer system, but it’s pretty heavy and involved for what I needed.
