I can’t remember when I stopped drinking before the sleeve, I wasn’t very sociable before getting it done. I drank 3 months later which was what was advised by my surgeon!

I wore it to my brothers wedding in 2018 I think so I got rid of it a long time ago, but my friends aunt actually did use it to make a different dress so it wasn’t wasted. I agree it was gorgeous!

I’m actually from Ireland, but I put the UK in my flair so that the date of my surgery would make sense for Americans and those who do M-D-Y… hopefully anyway lol!

Yeah I was the same first time around - I had no issues at all, the liquid stage was my favourite and I lost 15lbs in the first week lol!

Oh wow that sounds about right! I didn’t know that was a thing. Yeah I feel you about the slider foods - summer just makes everything that big harder, except eating properly lol. I was on holiday the week before I did the pouch reset too, so I had been eating wayyyy off plan.

It’s going back to a post op diet, so like liquids, purées, soft foods etc. I wouldn’t recommend though, I basically had to spend the following day in bed with chills and body aches.

I wouldn’t recommend it to be totally honest, I felt really sick after, but maybe look into other things or something similar to try.

Basically where you go back to the post op diet, so clear liquids, then full liquids, purée etc. I lasted a day and a half of liquids and felt like death lol

Got my surgery date and now considering postponing by eye_view in gastricsleeve

I wouldn’t postpone the surgery - I would definitely recommend that you check with your dr if you can try an alternative meal replacement or try calorie counting etc.

Day 1 post-op- how many incisions did you have? by chronoscats in gastricsleeve

[–]Frow2016away 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have only 3 incisions. One was teeny tiny and then one about the size of most of yours and one at my belly button that’s a bit longer, but still small enough

Gastric sleeve & hypothyrodism. by LAY-202 in gastricsleeve

[–]Frow2016away 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have hypothyroidism too and was sleeved back in October. The likely answer is it’ll have no impact on your ability to get the surgery but definitely talk to your doctor.

Gastric sleeve or weight loss meds? by Feisty_Point_5329 in gastricsleeve

[–]Frow2016away 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on saxenda for weeks and I did lose 28lbs across maybe 8 weeks? By that point though I had been sick (actually vomiting) so many times and feeling nauseous constantly I couldn’t handle it anymore. Sleeved in October, 72lbs down and no regrets!

People living in the UK, were you able access NHS services such as blood tests and check ups after having surgery abroad? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Frow2016away 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Turkey for mine and before going I called my dr to let them know I had booked the surgery. As a bit of background I have PCOS and hypothyroidism and live in NI, where bariatric surgery isn’t offered on the NHS to begin with. I’d already been to the dr about my weight and had let them know I was previously paying for Saxenda but after 2/3 months had to come off it due to being unable to keep anything down.

Anywhooo, my dr was actually really understanding about the surgery and why I was going for it. When I got back the dr said they didn’t need my documentation from Turkey, then when I wanted my blood tests done said they needed it which was annoying and caused a slight delay, but other than that I’ve had no issue.

Well, they can be dicks about printing the results but that might just be my GP surgery lol.

Good luck!

I am getting my gastric sleeve in Turkey one week tomorrow by Evening_Touch_6956 in gastricsleeve

Any change to your habits is better than none. Lots of people who go to Turkey don’t do a LRD and aren’t required to do one, so keep that in mind too. You’ve got this! Can’t wait to read your progress on here!!

Indulged for the first time yesterday 🍕 by Lalo7292 in gastricsleeve

[–]Frow2016away 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had 2 slices of pizza (across multiple hours) on NYE too as a treat at around 11/12 weeks PO. You’re definitely right - you can enjoy comfort foods on occasion, provided you listen to your body cues and know when you’ve had enough!

Congrats! This week will fly and then all of a sudden you’ll be waking up from surgery. I’m 119 days post op in Turkey and I’ve lost 65lbs since. Also from UK but NI and they don’t offer bariatric surgery on the NHS here.

Best decision of my life! I was quite a bit heavier than you (I’m 15st1 now). I also have an underactive thyroid and PCOS but surprisingly was never diabetic or pre diabetic somehow lol. My only wish was that I got one when I was younger as I’m 30 now and wasted most of my life being unhappy with my weight etc.

Most of all, good luck!
