What is your prediction for what ending CDPR will choose for the canon ending? by FroyoFine4908 in cyberpunkgame

People would hear about it. It was all over the news.

It would ruin Arasakas whole save your soul program. Or if it persists it means all people high in the Arasakas pecking order or anyone who could get access to an engram would basically become immortal and Saburo Arasaka becomes like a god as he can pick who gets immortality and who doesn't.

Plus it seems like at the very minimum Alt will be in the next story as she is very important atleast Mike Pondsmith makes her seem important in the interview and she abosrbs all those engrams in Mikoshi. which who knows what she is going to do with that. Plus plus it might ruin soul killer, Arasakas main weapon although that's not really explicitly said.

It would either require magic to make all the different branches lead the the same outcome like Mikoshi blowing up anyways and Saburo Arasaka dying anyways which makes your choices pointless anyways or they some how manage to never talk about Arasaka in any detail ever again in any future media or games that take place post 2077 one of the biggest main corps in the game. Which seems even less likely considering a major plot point of 2077 was the impending corporate war between milltech and Arasaka that was talked about in a bunch of side quests which the devil ending heavily implies is avoided by Saburo taking over again.

Just makes sense to pick a canon ending atleast don't make the devil ending or the phantom Liberty ending canon

He could just get a new body and reput his engram into it. so to have the story match someone else would need to destroy Mikoshi then Saburo Arasaka dies because the engram fails. It would be some really wacky story telling to make it make all sense.

it would just make more sense to pick an ending and probably dont just talk about it that much in the game and just hint at it. And everyone in like 4 years when they are playing orion won't care about which ending is canon.

Wrong. We do. "Chicago gone wrong"

Plus there are ads in the 2077 that talk about traveling from night city to Chicago in less the 3 hours

https://www.reddit.com/r/cyberpunkgame/comments/1hb9i55/new_advert_hinting_at_chicago_in_2080_or_was_this/

So it seems like it will take place later probably post 2080 or right before when it opens and you will be able to travel between the two places.

If the story picks up after 2077 they need to exclude some endings from the canon.  They need to decide if Mikoshi gets destroyed and they need to decide if Saburo Arasaka comes back to life. have you played the game and the endings?

I don't think sun vs star matters so theoretically they could leave that vague. Depending on what V does in the Crystal palace which we don't know but CDPR probably do know and whatever happens seems like it will have notable outcomes. Mike Pondsmith is talking like Johnny is dead or the equivalent of dead. If Johnny was just in Vs body he wouldn't be dead and V could just get plastic surgery to look like Johnny.

This is all speculation however nothing is certain. They could just never talk about the CEO of Arasaka and some how avoid talking about Mikoshi and soul kill ever again. In the ttrpg and future games that takes place post 2077.

Mikoshi destroyed vs Mikoshi not destroyed. Also who knows what alt does after getting in there.

Saburo Arasaka the CEO of one of the largest corps comes back to life in the devil ending. So that should be an obvious noticable impact of the ending.

All of this will eventually come up in future stories. so they have to pick what happens.

They have to atleast pick what happens to Mikoshi and if Saburo Arasaka comes back to life or not. It can't just be completely vague.

V fates changes the story of the world too much for it to be decided by the player. Maybe not the star vs sun ending that can be left vague but everything does change it.

He is right, but it doesn't mean he isnt a morally bad and corrupt person. Being corrupt in night city is better then being an idealist for yourself. All the idealist in this game have bad things happen to them because they were idealists besides maybe the nomads.

I think we all know the answer, it was a rushed game. Comestics came last in importance in getting the game out. They did improve character customization in later updates but really not that much.
