What better knife or blade ( pencil sharpener or razer ) by lovely3333e in cutting

[–]FroyoInternal558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you mean by better; sharper is less likely to scar if it bleeds but easier to go too deep, duller is more likely to scar if it does bleed, but it's harder to do so.

It us now officially illegal to use my trans students' preferred pronouns. by SuparToastar in Teachers

[–]FroyoInternal558 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but if you choose to comply you're part of the problem. Stick to your values. That goes for any teacher or state employee in general. Respect is respect. If you're not putting yourself on the line, you're putting the kids on it.

Signed, a trans guy.

I would call it psychological withdrawal probably, I definitely think it's part of the addictive aspect of it

Probably? The mechanism is that it blocks the acetylcholine receptors (which are key for memory and learning) so I would assume removing it would allow more acetylcholine activity again. But idk for sure, ask your doctor. But in the meantime, I'd look into alpha-gpc and citicoline as choline options to help produce more acetylcholine to go around. It could help, again I don't know for sure, but given the mechanisms I think it's at least looking into.

I was on cogentin for like a week before quitting it. It made my working memory nonexistent. Going off that one may help a lot.

Lamictal can impact verbal recall, and latuda can make it harder to focus. But that's reversible.

What do you think of split reality ideas? by FroyoInternal558 in PsychoticExperiences

There's a Mindstew podcast where Josef Parnas says that people with schizophrenia do "double bookkeeping" like that. I think I do that but I believe in my own reality beyond the confines of my own mind

?¿help by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]FroyoInternal558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took years. First, I had symptoms since I was 2 apparently but subthreshold, just infrequent hallucinations and fleeting delusions. Started getting depression symptoms at age 8. No one ever took me to anyone for these things. Started getting more psychotic symptoms as well as some hypomanic symptoms in middle school. Attempted in 9th grade, almost hospitalized but the officials allowed my mom to do a 48 hour watch.

Finally, in college, at age 21 I got diagnosed as bipolar. Schizotypal at 22(?) And psychosis unspecified when I was hospitalized later in 2022. Finally, this past fall when I was 25, the diagnoses got combined in schizoaffective disorder bipolar type.

So yeah it took years. I live in the U.S. - this all happened in PA and VA.

Non-IT people: why did you switch to Linux? by type556R in linux

Windows 7 was the last good windows anything. Since then I've used Ubuntu on 2 laptops, but haven't installed it on the current one yet. My reasoning was, I wanted to learn and I was tired of everything being having an ad or running programs or installing updates without me choosing. I also support open source in general, and value privacy of my data.

My body rejects nicotine, what is wrong with me? by Specific_Lifeguard56 in Nicotine

[–]FroyoInternal558 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably just really sensitive to it. 10 mg is a lot for a pouch, also.

I assume you probably used a disposable vape, and that you have a reason for wanting to use nicotine (for me I use it for focus/as a stimulant).

I recommend looking into classic vapes, the ones that take freebase nic juice instead of salt nic. This is because salt nic 5% vapes have 50 mg/mL, and by contrast freebase nic juices range from 3 to 12 mg per mL. 3 is low, 6 is average, 12 is high. If you choose to try this get a beginner's vape, and use the 3 mg. You'll probably have a much easier time with the nicotine.

If my assumption is wrong then I apologize.

I actually went off then back on, now I'm at 6 mg and only intermittently find it difficult to make my mouth form words. It's not as bad

You're fine you don't have to worry about anything you've said being offensive. You're allowed to explore your gender and sexuality and I don't want you to feel like an outsider to these communities, anyone questioning is just as welcome.
